Supposedly, the FOP was promised that these sergeants would have the exact same seniority date as the golden class of thirteen "merit" picks.
We'll see. At the very least, they'll probably lose out on the Sergeant sell-back option and extra Personal/BFD/Furlough days. That's a monetary damage, provable in court. Will Dean stick up for the soon-to-be-former-FOP members?

Class of 57 with a full compliment of 30% merit. 40 officers from the list,17 merit. Plus McCarthy squeezed in an extra 13 merit for the earlier class. He knows what he is doing.

The 13 count for 2015's budget, this class counts for 2016's budget. The 13 also count for 2015's 30% merit. 31 + 13 = 44 - 30% = 13.2

I learned today that Dean withdraw the lawsuit that was filed on Greg Bella for allowing $203,000.00 to go out from legal defense money when Bella was Legal Defense Chairman. The amount was suppose to be for $60,000.00. Bella agreed to support Dean if Dean would drop the lawsuit. I didn't believe it, but a lawyer friend pulled the case up and showed me. The Temporary Restraining Order was denied. Means nothing to the seniority and back pay issue. The case is still going forward. You can make everyone whole by back dating their seniority. It ain't over yet.

I disagree. im sure that nobody here ever reads carefully of the city and department budget. its online. read 2015, and now 2016.. while you are at it read 2014 also. these sgts start class in december 2015. they will officially make sgt in january and begin getting paid as a sgt in 2016. the reason they are starting the class over a month away is because they know they cant go against the 2015 budget and graduate this class in 2015. If you read the city and cpd 2016 budget this is it for 2016. If they decide to make more it will be over the budget which absolutly can happen and has happened in the past, however not with Emmanuel. He seems to try and stick to the budget as close as he can and with the budget woes looming for 2016,17 and 18 i really dont see them extending themselves any further than they have to. You are correct though, alot of sgts are going to be lost in 2016 and 2017. its possible the next class isnt announced till late next year so they can graduate first thing 2017. the city is starting to have to play catch up... also, the sgts contract is set to expire in less than a year. we all know that during contract talks, arbitration etc the city uses promotions as a back room silent bargaining chip. the longer the city holds out the more pressure on the sgts union and the union knows this. it could be an interesting 2016 but dont expect them to be burning through this list until the next contract is figured out. I see the likes of 2009-2011 during last contract talks when sgts were down almost 250-300 citywide. 3 months after the contract was settled there was a windfall of promotions with heavy numbers on the classes over the next few years. open your eyes people...

I understand they took 2 more off the list a couple months ago, for a total of 8. So if they keep that list around a bit you might have a shot.

Wrong sir/madam, The CFFU Local 2 is contractually the sole recognized bargaining unit for the unionized members of the Chicago Fire department. Just as the FOP Lodge 7 is for you. A handful of disgruntled paramedics decided to form their own rival organization and challenge Local 2's position as the sole representative responsible for making political endorsments despite repeated warnings from Local 2 and was declared a rival organization. This has happened before in other Locals and there exists a precedent for sanctioning those members.

You can not sell back 200 hours as a patrolman. Only a Sgt. can. Once your sworn in as a Sgt. then you join PBA. I don't understand what the problem understanding that is. Plus if your a Sgt with a CR# that you got as a Patrolman the odds of taking time are cut in a third.
And I trust Jimmy Ade and Pauly Bilotta to have my back ............

Hey Dick Wad!! FOP had free health care from 55 till Medicare age (65) and you gave back 2% of the gross of the pension check. Ryan and Ade are both sellouts to Rahm period, but you guys always were union scabs working other union jobs without a union card or you just buy one under the table. fop only represents its members. Sergeants and above both active and retired can continue their membership, although they cannot vote, if they pay a nominal annual membership due. I think they call it an associate member or something like that. It is worth looking into for newly promoted sgts for that very reason
Once a baby sparrow fell out of it's nest and Zogg caught it just before it crashed into the ground. Then he placed it back in it's nest and tipped the little guy out a $20, because it was raining ya know.

You cannot be promoted meritoriously until all your CR#s are resolved. They cannot block you from test score promotion. If you have an ugly accusation against you you might not want to put yourself in for merit consideration. In their expedience to resolve it they might fuck you instead.
