More New Buildings?
- Sneed is told the Chicago Police Mounted Patrol Unit as well as the CPD’s Canine Unit has been told to prepare to move to a new location in the near future.
They were given no specific dates.
• Translation: Plans to move the CPD’s horse patrol’s “barn” now housed on Chicago Park District property in the park adjacent to the South Shore Country Club — and next to the South Shore golf course — may be the result of a hush-hush proposal to merge the Jackson Park and South Shore golf courses into a single championship-caliber course involving the Obama Presidential Center planned for Jackson Park.
(The Sun-Times has reported plans for the Obama center are being firmed up largely out of view.)
Meanwhile, Sneed hears the police Canine Unit, located near O’Hare International Airport, has been told to prepare for a move because of the construction of a new tollway exit.
“That’s what we are told,” said two top police sources.
We suggest the new Mounted Unit be placed in close proximity to City Hall. Not only are the horses then centrally located to where a majority of their assignments take place, but the smell of horseshit will blend in perfectly with what emanated from City Hall and the County Building on a regular basis.

Truth be told, the stables for the mounted unit have needed a complete overhaul for at least the last 15 years. Whst they currently have is deplorable.

What about the Canine unit? They use an abandoned trailer park along Higgins near the airport.
As much as Commander Bauer was linked to the Mounted Unit, they should have named a new Equestrian Training Center in his name and named the new Training academy after James J Riordan, the highest CPD to die in the line of duty.
Old news. We’ve been aware of the need for both moves for a year, at least.

Why not move horses to the Ag School. Stables are already there.
The Canine Unit facilty is actually located in Des Plaines . If they build the new academy training facility sure there’s enough room to House Canine and build Horse Stables for the Mounted Unit. They’d both be centerally located.

This is the key phrase. The horse barn is secondary. The Obama library/golf course is taking over much of the park. Any real opposition will be branded "racist". Don't forget, both Rahm and Madigan have pledged 100 million dollars each in city and state funds to the library as well as all the freebie infrastructure changes to the neighborhood
Hey where's the beef from PITA, does the city know how many Dog's are buried on

Current list has only been up a couple years so don't expect a new test anytime soon there Sparky.
I'm guessin k9 test prob in 3-4years
I wonder if the themes for the obamanation tribute will change if/when the indictments come down.......
