Carjacking Fatality
- A man who carjacked a taxi cab in River North on Tuesday evening crashed into two cars just blocks away, killing a woman, police said.
The 31-year-old cabbie was in his taxi in the 200 block of West Walton when a 29-year-old man opened the driver’s side door, struck him in the face, and forced him from the car around 10:45 p.m., according to police.
Minutes later, the stolen cab crashed into two other vehicles about a half-mile away, in the 800 block of North Larrabee. A woman who was driving one of the struck vehicles was later pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Police transported the taxi driver to the crash scene where he was able to positively identify the man who attacked him, police said in a statement overnight.
The carjacking suspect is in serious condition at Illinois Masonic Medical Center. The cabbie is in good condition at Northwestern.
No word on his rap sheet yet. We're imagining a whole bunch of previous arrests, a few convictions, on parole or some sort of early release. Anyone know?

Undoubtably, the stolen cab would have been used to commit additional robberies. The next round of victims would be flagging down what would seem like a legitimate cab only to be preyed upon by a habitual criminal. Or worse, a sexual assault to an vulnerable, unsuspecting woman. The stolen car had the potential to be utilized in numerous other criminal acts only to be identified in a published crime pattern bulletin forwarded by that multi-jurisdictional carjacking task force touted in the superintendent's press conference.
Sadly, an innocent women going about her daily life was killed by a most likely a fleeing career felon. Stolen cars are just a petty property crime. Yea, right. Habitual felons take full advantage of a failed States Attorneys Office with a political agenda, a laid back approach by the Courts more specifically black robes who fail to set appropriate bonds to the corresponding crimes and Corrections Institutions who pinch pennies releasing determined violent predators instead of housing them ensuring the general law abiding public conduct their daily lives in fear of being that next victim.
Wake up Chicago, goverment via elected officials and their progressive policies are taking a human toll. Get your head out of your ass and vote these bastards out of office already. Tired old liberal politicians are not the solution, but rather the problem.
How many more God fearing, law abiding people have to be sacraficed in the daily war of Good versus Evil? Or are we as a city desensitized to the daily carnage and just accept all the violence without consequences?
The Asshole carjacker WILL get probation from these fucked up Cook County Courts!
