Cops Hurt in Crash

Three transported to the hospital:
  • Three Chicago police officers were injured when their unmarked car was struck by a van on the South Side while they were responding to a robbery Wednesday morning, officials said.

All three officers were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The driver of the car was listed in serious condition, and the other two officers’ conditions were stabilized, police said.

They were answering a call for a robbery at a T-Mobile store around 10:15 a.m. when they tried passing a van on the left in the 8300 block of South Halsted Street, police said. The van tried to turn left and hit the unmarked squad car, sending the car into a light [pole].
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

When you put your heart into a job and your bosses try to cut it out, it's surprising to hear how some coppers still try to do the right thing.

I’ll go out on a limb, boys will be boys.
Serious injury and an extended convalescence should be a wake up.

Many years ago, the advent of the trunk mounted kicker, it seemed some people would purposely ignore lights and sirens.
Now it’s cellaphones and Facebookin’Live.
Now everyone has a social excuse.
Tell me, has anything changed?
At 83rd & Halsted, one has to wonder if the van driver was just doing their part to impede the hated police.

It’s 83rd & Halsteed, folks should be used to robbery (a property crime) by now and “should expect it” as Democrats say.
Why, oh why get involved?
A pleasing voice from an ASA saying “declined” ?

Limiting police actions and empowering a corrupt band of anti-police haters should be enough to know where we stand in today’s progressive society.
What might be Great for America isn’t going to happen here in Sanctuary City.

Stay Fetal.

Never a good thing to do dangerous driving in an unmarked. It's not about your skills, it's that the other drivers simply don't give a shit about us.
Joint and neck pain have ways of returning. Don't skimp on the rehab, even if it takes until after Summer (hint, hint).

Another pathetic me me see me me moment, hope they are not seated in the front rows at this heroes funeral after all they are part if the reason letting the felons run free to cause more loss of life! The elected should not get "reserved parking and reserved seats" God bless the police!

You would think that the phone companies would be able to address this problem so that stolen phones are worthless. What about the third parties that are unlocking and fencing them?

Similar situation with stolen catalytic converters, like the buyer for scrap metal doesn't know.

Who the hell cares about stolen phones? Not your problem to respond to. Show up much later and process the paperwork. Even if apprehended the ASA would not charge them. If they don't care why should you.

The phone companies know the IMEI of ever cell phone they have in boxes, and on their network. They activate it when they sell it - that's what they charge you an activation fee for. These things are easy to blacklist - but several carriers would actually have to work together to make it happen for GSM networks (since all you do is move the SIM chip) - while the only two on CDMA are Sprint and T-Mobile (no chip).

They're not mandated to do it, it'd cost money they don't want to spend, so they could give a shit less. If mandated to do it - we're all going to see yet another bullshit "recovery" fee on our bills.

The best ways to solve this problem?

* J/O thieves get charged with a felony because it's over $300, and cuff up for 5 years. No parole, pleas, time off, credit, early release, EM...

* $0.30 of high velocity lead inserted by the intended victim into a location on the J/O that they won't forget.

But either would require cooperation from the Crook County Scumbags Office and we all know how that's going to work *sigh*
