Nice Police Station Rahm
- The Harrison District police station in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side lost power briefly Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
The loss of power to the district, 3151 W. Harrison St., about 3:35 p.m. affected the transmission of its police radio zone and officers had to switch to another police radio band, according to a police spokesman. Power was back on within a few minutes, according to officers at the station.
A ComEd crew was dispatched to check on the outage, which was believed to be affecting only the district station, said Erica Velasco, a ComEd spokeswoman. It was determined to have been a malfunction of equipment at the station, not ComEd power supply equipment, she later said.
The entire station had to be evacuated a few years back when the electrical room caught fire due to leaky ceilings and an explosion. We're going to guess they haven't fixed that yet.

Flooded basement at O’Hare 050 too. Lockers took on water. Only the best.
Water and electricity do not mix.
Combine both with humans, and you get dead people. Dead police, dead citizens, dead suspects.
Perhaps the homeless crashed the HunchLab room like they did Henny Penny's POD room, overloading the receptacles charging their smartphones?
Only the best for CPD right Rahm?
At least we’ve got those hundreds of miles of unused bike lanes.
Where's the great Bonnie Amatto?
I thought she was on top of every building issue.
Not so great huh Bonnie?
Did they pay the "light bill?"
It's really a fun place to work.
I headed the crew that replaced the fire alarm system after it failed during the previous fire. We were an outside contractor hired by the city. We found a few issues during our time there. Some we fixed as a professional duty, others were too large and outside the scope of our work. Those issues were noted with the city and I prayed they would be addressed. Guess now I know. From one professional to another, I truly feel sorry.
No backup generator??
But we have a multi million dollar state of the art shot spotter situation room. Who the hell cares if the officers have adequate clean locker rooms, bathrooms they don’t have to share with arrestees, computers that work etc. Oh forgot to mention how it was ok that the bosses didn’t even order a single plow along the pool lot to help ease driving dept vehicles in and out of 10 inches of snow. Let alone our personal car lots lol There are front store west side chapels with much better maintainence. But don’t worry the kids will still bring in the ISRs and impounds at the request of the XO.
What a joke.
A power outage? Happens a few times a year in my neighborhood and it lasts more than a few minutes. It appears that the problem was in the district that was either corrected by the district or corrected itself as it takes more than a few minutes for ComEd to arrive. Also they changed zones so no one was in danger because they couldn’t use the radio and it was corrected in a few minutes. No electrical system is perfect and the situation was handled properly. Not a huge deal
My buddy was at Callback for a bit. That is a building someone ought to look into.
Leaky ceiling? Extract some more leak blocker panels from the light fixtures and tape them up where needed...

So the same thing happened at O’Hare. No different for us. 011 is over 40 years old and one failure
Not a cop but I did speak to the cop who handles the IT contracts. We had a chat about computers being on Windows 95 and upgrading them to at least Windows 7. My team could have done that job in a few weeks but he told me that he has it under control. I know the company he is using (Unisys) and they pay the workers garbage and keep the rest for themselves. Another example clout in this city.
The Premire Shitehole of all the late 70’s - early 80’s low-bid constructed public buildings is 011.
It’s good enough for the territory it covers and there’s little interest of re-establishing an Area WestSide (GMac2019 talking point).
Unless there’s a plan to add a I-90 on/off ramps at Kedeezie, the location is crap for anything more than a storefront mega church or CPS learning (brainwash) academy.
Who knows, maybe a new and improved 011 will be bundled into the new Academy complex.
Nothing like adding travel time thru the jhetto.
If any District that’s destined to be razed in the next couple years under Rahm, it will be the highly sought after property where the newer built 018 rests. If they find a developer, there will be a sale, regardless if the pipes and roof don’t leak yet.
Can’t wait for that “ I was a victim of water boarding” beef...
what the two hampsters on the heels for power died
Aaahhh....the 11th District....nestled under the ‘Freedom Beacon’ shining its light of safety and hope to the West Side. Join us for the Caka Roach Races every Wednesday Night at 9 P.M.
Blaming Rahm for 40 year old infrastructure ? Why don’t you blame him for the Eastland disaster while you’re at it.
Near North was flooded too the carpet stank
Started my career in 011 over 16 years ago. Water was leaking into a trash can from the cement patio area above. To this day it still leaks, and the locker getting most of the water is almost disintegrated.

You do realize preventive maintenance is part of keeping a 40 year old building waterproof, right? Don't you change the cardboard on your refridgerator box every year or so?
No power a police station no backup generators? Another failure of the administration, just more and more misuse of taxpayers money not being spent to protect the police and protect the public! they all must go away!

Pay these rattle-minds no attention, SCC...
They're pissed because Rahm is being fast marched
to a slow crawl like Napoleon when he thought Russia
was easy pickings...
The skeletal remains and ruins of Bonaparte's army
are STILL percolating out of the ground 200 years
after the fact.
Heh...
Rahm's bones and the remnants of the
armored mayoral sled found wadded-up
on the far bank of the Calumet River
200 years from now?
...We just laughed out loud at that notion.

We wouldn't have to do this. Stop fighting US.
It's beginning to be really problematic!"
Hey at least they got new paint in the basement. That will fix all the problems with that s..t hole.

011th district.. our version of Chernobyl 💩🚽😮
I see Mr. BCP was firing on all cylinders this glorious morning (and I'd expect nothing less!)
My response to your inquisition, good sir ...
Perhaps.
Perhaps not.
A definite maybe.
You're getting warm... warmer... warmer. Oh, oohhhh... cold, cold, colder, ice cold! Warm again!
Tomfoolery, shenanigans, giddiness, high jinks, horseplay, insanity, irresponsibility, joking, fucking around, ludicrousness, lunacy and madness are just a few of the things that keep most of us sane. The occasional three finger pour doesn't hurt, either.
It's my pleasure to regularly be amongst like-minded clowns both in this CPD circus and on this blog.
Tonight's nectar is a variety of Saugatuck Brewing Company's milk stouts, the next bottle of which will be hoisted to you, good sir, as well as to all the usual suspects of similar grit.
“You do realize preventive maintenance is part of keeping a 40 year old building waterproof, right? Don't you change the cardboard on your refridgerator box every year or so?”
The previous Adminstration did absolutely jack shit when it came to preventative maintenance, he was too busy privatizing everything and cutting deals with foreign conglomerates and you said nothing.
Don’t have that problem with my refrigerator, I don’t purchase my appliances at Walmart.

UGH!
Nothing like ol' dookey-water setting
in the carpet.
Floor drains with floats in them
are a cheap fix compared to the joint
being ruined because of a sewer back-up.
Had some LOVELY oak flooring ruined
because of a back-up from a 100 Year Storm
and the sump couldn't keep up.
...We busted up enough basement floors
putting those things in...
But since it's a City of Chicago
building, it's anybody's guess
how many plumbing/drainage
shortcuts are involved.
The hallway toilet with its weekly clogging ! They had just redone that whole thing less than a year ago. Also the non existant parking lines in the back !
the rats must have chewed theu the wiring again.
