- Longtime Chicago investigative reporter Pam Zekman’s 39-year run at CBS 2 Chicago ended Wednesday.
Zekman was among 12 or more reporters, anchors and other employees laid off by the local CBS television affiliate WBBM, as first reported by the Daily Herald’s Robert Feder.
Other layoffs included news anchor Erin Kennedy, sports anchor Megan Mawicke, meteorologist Megan Glaros and reporters Mike Puccinelli and Mai Martinez.
Zekman's best days are far behind her and the SeeBS brand has fallen so far in recent years that you would need a microscope to even see the remnants of it. Hopefully the rest of the "reporters" can Learn to Code.

They could get rid of all the news reporters and no one would even know they are gone! The media and the two rag papers in Chicago report everything is rainbows, bubblegum & unicorns. Just who the hell wants to see, hear or read about that. As for reporting, there has not been an investigative reporter worth his/her weight since the voters implemented the Chicago one party system with democRATS which means there are no checks & balances and no oppositional forces. Just one big happy family, like the Manson Family...

Let’s see the machines two cat box liner newspapers start laying off people. Start with Darlene Glanton, Neil Steinberg, Matt Hendrickson, Chris Fusco, racist Nykia Wright, Eric Zorn, Mary Schmich . Zekman and all other so-called "Investigative Reporters' in Chicago are a long-standing disgrace. We are up to our necks in pollitical corruption in this town, and no one ever looks into it.
Every year, during sweeps week, Zekman would get off her ass and go find a cockroach in a Greek restaurant on the near west side and do a four-part report on that. Every single year. She probably got a kickback with these guys for covering a different restaurant every year; it was free advertising for them.

I stopped watching CBS a few years ago. Anti-police, anti-conservative and just irrelevant if you ask me. These people are not journalists no matter how hard they try to convince you. One person could do the entire 10 PM news reporting from news, to sports to weather. Who cares?

In her prime decades ago, she actually did a good feature on the CPD killing crime which led to some well needed reforms in the detective division.

CPD is not documenting calls of shots fired to keep violent crime incidents down in black neighborhoods , why didn’t you report that ?

The "Mirage" was literally her last piece of investigative reporting - in 1977! After that she was nothing but a hack for city hall.
When and where is the benefit being held
Back in the early 1970s Zekman was doing an undercover expose on collection agencies. She was caught planting an illegal eavesdropping device in one of the agencies on Sheridan Rd. A/6 detectives were preparing to arrest her but States Atty. Bernard Carey stepped in and quashed the entire investigation. Zekman was working for a Chicago newspaper at the time but I forget which one.
