- Mayor Lori Lightfoot on Wednesday defended sending several insulting text messages to Chicago Fraternal Order of Police President John Catanzara, saying she doesn’t “take back one word that I said.”
In a heated text exchange, obtained by WGN, Lightfoot called Catanzara a “cartoon character,” “clown” and “total fraud” after the recently appointed FOP president sent a letter to President Donald Trump on Saturday, pleading for federal help in combating the city’s gun violence.
Lightfoot said she believes her characterization of Catanzara is “100% accurate.” She also accused Catanzara of sending the letters in a “craven political move.”
What Chicago political office does Catanzara hold again? Oh yeah, none.

- “In the middle of everything that’s going on in a craven political move, this man waved his hand to President Trump and invited him to bring federal troops into our city, federal troops into our city, a la Portland,” Lightfoot said during a news conference. “How is that responsible? In the letter, Catanzara didn’t specifically ask for “troops” or mention Portland, but he did call Lightfoot a “complete failure” who is unable to maintain law and order.
Amazingly, the Slum Times points out that Catanzara didn't say what Groot claims he said - essentially calling her a liar. Which makes us wonder what other forces are at play here, seeing as how most of the Slum Times front page "reporters" have carried Groot's bullshit for over a year now.

I worked with the FBI HRT team a few years back. I worked for an HRT candidate class as a fill-in for a few months about 10 years ago. The HRT class was completely filled with ex-military Captains from Special Forces, SEALs, and Force Recon. Every single guy, had been a military officer, selected for Special Operations, had time leading in combat, then applied for FBI. The FBI did not make these guys do agent time, they went straight to HRT because they knew they already had excellent training, and they had been vetted to an extreme. On top of it all, they were good guys. Honest to a fault. They could have done anything with their lives but they chose to serve and protect the people of this nation for much less than they could make as a contractor or a civilian. It was an honor to work with them.

You can do two things that will help: Settle the 3 years without a police contract debacle. Next, have city lawyers go to the Federal judge over seeing the Consent Decree disaster and show him the recent violent crime stats and get relief from that mistake, i.e. take the cuffs off the police.
