Get Rid of ShotSpotter!
Conehead is going to have a hard time justifying his previous decision to unload ShotSpotter:

Many aldermen representing wards struggling with violent crime want to keep ShotSpotters in their wards. But Johnson’s allies—mostly aldermen representing more affluent, safer neighborhoods that aren’t even monitored by ShotSpotter—are blocking those efforts.
Meanwhile, the technology continues to help Chicago police officers bring charges against people for allegedly firing guns on the city’s streets.
CWB goes on to list three recent cases, all resulting in arrests, gun recoveries and charges.
It's amusing to see the "more affluent, safer neighborhood..." aldercreatures representing the....let's just say "more pale" segments of Chicago telling the bleeding, broken and maimed parts of town that they don't need ShotSpotter since it only seems to point cops in the direction of minority shooters who are actually doing 90% of the shooting.

It's the poverty industry at work. Keep people on slums where there are no jobs so they need services.
They don’t want Shotspotter because there is no Chicago grift. But someone will have a bright idea to let the “community” be in charge, and the shotspotter terminals be in the “community” offices. They will then hire at risk “community” members to monitor the alerts. Walla! Another multimillion dollar bureaucracy.
The simple solution is to send all the bangers, robbery crews, drug dealers and anyone else with a propensity to illegally use a weapon to neighborhoods where these clueless, rich white liberal douchebags live. Make the Red line northbound and Blue Line eastbound from the community free of charge, not that they actually would pay anyway.
After all, these white liberal pukes are the people who seem to want a city where criminals can operate with complete impunity. Let's make their neighborhoods a free fire zone and give them the chaos they wanted, that they voted for, that they insisted upon.
So.
ShotSpotter technology effectively detects, identifies and locates the points of origination of firearm discharges.
PodCams provide visual monitoring, within limits of frame and focus, of events occuring therein in real time.
The relevant eyes and ears, the better to see and hear relevant sights and sounds. In real time.
All, obviously, dependent upon human monitoring.
An impediment to both the predatory criminals and the hunters of same.
Thus, what remains, for law enforcers, is effectively a game of Where's Waldo.

Just a matter of time before those “safe” neighborhoods aren’t safe. The grifters will go where the pickings are better and softer targets. Fewer police and more wealth is a bad combination unless you’re a criminal. Then it is utopia. How does the POS mayor have any supporters?
Is it possible that the vendor behind “shot spotter” did not offer a big enough kickback to certain politicians? Hmmm, Shitago…no that could not be the case.
Conehead needs the Shot/spotter funds for the migrants.
Let's look at this factually: does it help? For notifications and possibly additional audio? Yes! You might not know this (random non-cop reader), nobody calls in shots fired...... very rarely in fact. Why? Because they are afraid. Period. To remove cameras and or audio detection devices to REMOVE a criminal from the street is a necessity. Or... better yet, try it out, let's see how it works!

The same people that support "decarceration" also support getting rid of a tool that might put people in jail in the first place.

Shot Spotter in my neighborhood is going off a lot. Goose hunters, duck hunters, turkey hunters and nice rural folks that have a shooting range on their property. Ahhhh, the country life is good.
Shotspotter is rooted in a deep and systemic racism against black and brown people. Shotspotter needs to be abolished so we can re direct the funds to help pay for my children’s private school tuition. I send them to private school because I want a better educations and better opportunities for them and I don’t want them to have to be around the hoodrats that infest CPS schools. Oops I didn’t mean to say that part out loud.
...and there it is. Dexter's family done wan' be paid. They found some schlub law firm I guess hoping the city settles out of court. Seeing as it's not his money, conehead will be happy to pay it. Probably hand the check over in person....

I don't know if I buy that. I know the Alder in my lily white ward is one of the strongest proponents of Shotspotter, and we don't even have it in our ward! I think it would be more accurate to say the "progressives" of any hue are the pro-crime, anti-Shotspotter contingent.
