Mayor Brandon Johnson announced six proposed appointees to the Chicago Board of Education on Monday following uproar over last week’s announcement that the entire board was resigning.
During a fiery news conference, Johnson rejected calls to pause the appointment process and shot back at criticism that he has been heavy-handed in his handling of Chicago Public Schools.
He said his mission is to avoid major staffing and programming cuts in the city’s schools — and at one point likened his detractors to leaders of the Confederacy who said it was too expensive to end slavery.
Forty-one of fifty aldercreatures signed a letter objecting to the overt politicization of the School Board process and the almost certain political firestorm brewing just over the horizon.

A super embarrassing CPS OIG investigation for Mayor CTU is due out any daty now and it involves the now former head of the Office of Student Protections /Sexual Allegations/Title IX Officer Unit Camie Pratt and her lying in several cases to help CPS Law win them.
Pratt resigned in September 2024 and took a consulting job outside CPS as a determination was being finalized against her and before CPS gave her a Do Not Hire designation (DNH)., a designation she helped CPS Law give to several other CPS employees.
In one case, a west side CPS teacher was accused by Pratt of several Title IX violations. The problem is Pratt produced no evidence and was admonished by the arbitrator. This helped the 18-year male White teacher to be cleared of 13 false allegations brought against them and manufactured by the Black female principal that had a vendetta vs. this and other White & Hispanic teachers at her school.
This principal repeatedly stated she wanted all Black teachers at her school and she'll always find another school to find another $140K salary that'll allow her to drink champagne and eat lobster. And this principal was under investigation by CPS Investigations herself for not reporting incidents involving students to CPS OPS , DCFS, and the others in the chain of command. The charges against the principal were substantiated by investigators and before a determination was made in her case. She too landed another job outside of CPS, she landed in another school district in the middle of the 2021-22 school year.
This same principal also had fake emails supposedly sent to the suspended teacher by a student traced back to her computer. If the teacher would have responded back to the emails, they would have been fired on the spot for violating the no contact with students terms of their suspension. The trace back to the principal's computer was brought up by the suspended teacher and their CTU attorney and the CPS 'railroading attorney Charles ' Chuck' Little claimed he knew nothing about the email. (Little left CPS 6 months after this case and us now working for the Cook County States Attorney's Office and Kim Foxx)
In the end, the scheming and racist Black principal left 11 days before her teacher was cleared on all 13 allegations and 12 days before charges against her were substantiated by CPS Investigations.
Next up: CPS Nepotism as the head of CPS Law Ruchi Verma is married to the head of CPS Talent Ben Felton. A ethics inquiry and complaint were made to Jennifer Chan in CPS Ethics and she found no nepotism. Who does Chan report to? If you guessed Ruchi Verma, you win a Bari's Italian sub.

One of my kids works for CPS. The school she is at does not have a nurse or social worker. The school did get a brand new 100k kitchen though. And every teacher in that school is currently being shorted $$ on their paychecks. All the teachers also want OUT of not only CPS but out of the whole teaching career together.

CPS Investigation involving CPS Chief Title IX Officer
Camie Pratt and former Deputy Chief Title IX Officer Debra Spraggins.
An EOCO complaint was filed against Pratt on July 9, 2020, and the investigation wasn't completed until June 28, 2024, nearly 4 years later. During this time Pratt received 5 raises and was making $207K+ when she resigned and was given a DNH designation from CPS.
An OIG investigation revealed that in 2020, CPS Chief Title IX Officer Camie Pratt, former Deputy Chief Title IX Officer Debra Spraggins, and the CPS Office of Student Protections and Title IX conducted an off-the-books investigation of Lincoln Park High School teacher and girls’ varsity basketball coach Eric Lezcano. In January 2020, (via Pratt) made a complaint to the OIG’s Sexual Allegations Unit alleging that her head coach on the LPHS varsity girls’ basketball team, Larry Washington, sent her inappropriate text messages.
Pratt and Spraggins both “fail[ed] to fulfill their duties and responsibilities as described” in the reporting procedures section of CPS’ New Comprehensive Non-Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation Policy by secretly investigating Lezcano’s alleged retaliation against rather than reporting it to the OIG. See Board Report 19-0522-PO1, New Comprehensive Non-Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation Policy, §§(IV)(B), (V)(3) (eff. Sep. 3, 2019). Pratt and Spraggins also violated Board rules and CPS policy by making false statements to investigators during their OIG interviews. See 105 ILCS 5/34-13.1; Board Rule 4.4(m); Board Report 19-0522-PO1, New Comprehensive Non-Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation Policy, §(V)(4) (eff. Sep. 3, 2019) (“It is a violation of this Policy fo . . . [a]ny employee . . . to refuse to participate and/or provide truthful information in an investigation conducted by the . . . OIG.”). Pratt lied about recusing herself from OSP’s LPHS investigations, while Spraggins lied about how OSP’s secret Lezcano investigation was initiated and about her knowledge of
why Thuet and Brumfield were fired by CPS.

Don't bother reporting CPS teachers and other CPS employees as like the city's IG, especially as employees with connected sponsors never got investigated at all. CPS William Fletcher only went after malcontents and those employees CPS principals or higher-ups wanted gone and residency was one way to do it.. Amber Nesbitt is Fletcher's interim replacement and she did as told by Fletcher and now she does as her CPS handlers tell her to do.
Fletcher took 4 years to come to a determination after a complaint was filed in July 2020 against Camie Pratt (Chief Officer of Title IX.) for lying and doing an off the books investigation into the Girls Basketball Coach at Lincoln Park HS. A team her daughter played on, conflict of interest. So, don't expect Nesbitt to lead any residency investigations any time soon.
Pratt ($207K salary) was allowed to continue to work for 4 years after the CPS OIG started the investigation into her. This when other CPS employees with no juice would have been suspended on the spot.
