Contrarian Reminds Taxpayers
Conehead's people are trying to slip one past the City Council....and taxpayers:
When a Chicago Police Department (CPD) tactical team serving in the 11th District stopped Dexter Reed in Humboldt Park on March 21, 2024, few could have predicted a brief encounter over a traffic violation would end with a Chicago Police officer injured and Reed mortally wounded. It is even more inconceivable Chicago, considering how the incident unfolded, is nearing a financial settlement with Reed’s estate.
If you are confused over why the City of Chicago has entered into a settlement with Dexter Reed’s estate after it was clearly established Reed attacked a police officer, you aren’t alone.
An incident which has fallen out of the public’s consciousness since the police dashcam capturing the incident was released in April, it will probably be helpful to recall some of the basic facts of CPD’s encounter with Reed. Reed was stopped by officers at 3836 West Ferdinand for what police originally alleged was a seatbelt violation. Later, in a contradiction to the initial version, police stated the stop was prompted by illegally tinted windows.
Despite the contradiction, officers who stopped Reed acted in full accordance with CPD use-of-force guidelines and within the guardrails of state law.
In the end, it doesn't matter why dead shithead was stopped. Dead shithead opened fire on CPD Officers and lost. You don't get a payout because you lost a gun fight that you had ZERO right to participate in.
Is this the message that Conehead's dumb ass wants to teach the gangs? That you get money for shooting at the police when you are 100% in the wrong?
Because as we have pointed out for years....decades even....when you reward this sort of behavior, you get more of it. Guaranteed.

Just a suggestion why doesn’t the FOP legal team use our lawyer to file a suit against the estate of Reed on behalf of the officers traumatized by this incident. It would be a great way to stick it in the a$$ of the $hity.

Payouts for justified deaths has been the City’s policy for as long as I can remember. Keeps the revs happy and the animals from rioting out of ignorance. The pols don’t care for A they know why there’s a payout and B it comes out of the pocket of the taxpayers, which the dead shitheads could never claim to be. Payouts go the same for deaths as a result of traffic pursuits no matter who is the striking vehicle, the police are always the causation of the crash. Conehead is a Marxist and the council is full of Marxists so they will continue to give payouts for bad behavior. They don’t care. Unfortunately there are not enough intelligent people to change the political landscape in Chicago to stop the payouts. Uggggh

I'm still convinced the actual reason that they stopped Reed was they had info from a CI that he had obtained a gun & was going to kill his uncle, the man who had shot Reed the year before & wounded him, so he was out for revenge.

This is why Chicago is constantly sued because they constantly settle, especially for small amounts like 10-25k. Easier to pay than it is to defend.
First it establishes that the police engaged in misconduct and turns Dexter Reed into a martyr. Second, it gives a payout to a probably connected attorney who will kick back the money in campaign donations. This version of lawfare is becoming very common, sadly. The powers invite a lawsuit and settle it with terms they wanted all along. See the EPA who seeks lawsuits so they can stop projects they don't want.
