Fire Rescue
Some say that just showing up to work these days counts as heroic, and cops still go above and beyond:
A Chicago police officer suffered smoke inhalation while helping a man to safety early Wednesday in a Humboldt Park house fire.
Officers were on patrol about 2:50 a.m. when they noticed a residential fire in the 700 block of North Spaulding Avenue, Chicago police said.
One officer helped a man to safety while two other occupants escaped the building unharmed, police said. The officer was taken to an area hospital in good condition as a precaution for possible smoke inhalation.
Well done and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Speaking of fires, rumors on the north side continue to swirl that a couple of recent fires, including one in which an elderly man died, were caused by the residents barbecuing indoors and/or on porches. Anyone have any further info on this?
There's never a firefighter around when you need one…
Excellent.
Patrolling. Observing. Rescuing. Gee, hope s/he/they didn't violate a policy, like "pursuit" of saving a life. Salute to those involved.
Bathtub bbq is the best
God Bless CPD officers. I miss Spank Daddy.

In Rosemont IL, coppers rotate to Fire-eaters & back every 2 years. They keep their Bang Bangs while using their Fire Can Squirt Guns. The Citizens get 2 Trained Super Heros in one package. Coppers are always ahead of the Big Red Truck to most West side & Auburn Gresham fires. Office of the DOGE report to City of Chicago.

Rosemont has a bunch of goofballs working there. They rarely see any fires and don’t do any police work. They sure love their gear though if you know what I mean

Aaaaaannd they parked their squad in the middle of the street in front of the fire building...only because there was already a car parked in front of the hydrant....
