Fraud, Waste, Corruption

And the new Administration is taking a wrecking ball to it:

  • The Department of Education initiated mass layoffs on Tuesday night, reducing its workforce by nearly 50%, sources told ABC News.

The "reduction in force" notices began to go out at about 6 p.m.

Some 1,315 employees were affected by the RIFs, leaving 2,183 employed by the department, according to senior officials at the DOE.

There is nothing in the Constitution about education, and all things not mentioned in the constitution are reserved to the States. Trump aims to disband this monstrosity of a Cabinet position that was willed into its current existence by the peanut farmer in 1980 and return it to the states where parents can hold state and local officials to account.

Every year since then, by every measurable metric, test American students test scores have declined in all categories, resulting in a massive bureaucracy that doesn't do the only thing listed in its title - educate.

Thousands of useless bureaucrats (not teachers) will be laid off and up to a quarter-of-a-trillion dollars will be redirected to state education programs where actual accountability will finally be established. Those national "teacher" organizations won't have any Washington politicians to wheedle and will fade into oblivion along with their national lobbyists and countless lawyers.

Dismantle it all.

There was a time when teachers were held in high esteem, not anymore. For far too long teachers have been more concerned with indoctrinating students with the leftists agenda and amassing power for themselves via teachers unions. Hitler and Stalin would be proud of our school system.

In 1976, candidate Jimmy Carter promised the National Education Association, the nation's largest teacher's union, that if they voted him in, he would create this department of education, and he eventually did.

America did not need this.

We also DO NOT NEED federal funding of ANY public schools! With federal money comes federal control, and the federal gov't has totally screwed up the education system in this country.

The problem here in Illinois is we have a Board of Education not a department. They are just used to distribute federal funding. Illinois schools are controlled on a county and municipal level. Pritzker has a problem coming that can’t easily be controlled. The crazy thing is the unions will obtain greater power in Illinois which will be the opposite of the rest of the country.

This is good no more federal student loans. All will have to be private. I’ll bet the private loans get repaid. With AI in the future anything past HS will be unnecessary.

DoE is just a conduit to funnel $ to teacher unions. Close it down and bust the unions. CTU should be making $15 an hour.

checked out the Dept of Ed website--they do seem pretty useless. Zero faith that states will do anything different--unless of course the government sends them buckets of money--you know the same money that was budgeted for Dept of Ed----but luckily for every American--DC can use those funds to bully blue states.

Public schools should be abolished. If you want to go to school you pay for it.

Teachers should be prohibited by law from striking just like the police & fire (Oops CFD thing). A teacher strike causes lots of problems for working parents and forces a settlement that only enhances the benefits for the teacher crowd. Follow the Wisconsin lead and abolish mandatory membership is a teacher union and see the savings.

My sister (RIP) was a teacher, and I said, when looking at the homework, "this is horrible! Words are mis-spelled, punctuation is all wrong." I was told, by my sister, "just pass them to the next grade." So now you have idiots that can't make change, cannot look at a customer (after burring their head in their phone their whole life) and have close to zero social skills! Well done! Get rid of DoE. Trump-McMahon can "tag team" this and put a sleeper hold on it! RIP! DoE will not be missed!

Don't know any CPS teachers. Many IL teachers outside CPS, are dealing with similar legislative crap the cops are facing - the cops/teachers are statutorily limited/prohibited from dealing with kids/criminals in any meaningful way and are leaving the job. And what liberal socialist doesn't love to interfere with parental rights - as long as it doesn't involve their lil angel? Keep the gov't out of the kids.

i know this is a site for public employees, but we have too many public employees in America. The percentage of our GDP that is driven by government spending is ridiculously high. The taxpayers should be paying for essential services only. Police, fire, snowplows, etc. DC is a cesspool of filth and corruption. You can let all of them go in my view after watching what they did to Trump over the past decade.

Why not the pos cps system that is not teaching but indoctrinating children? How about the graduation rate? What about schools with capacity for 1,000 indoctrination children with 25 kids but fully staffed? How about school choice so our kids can learn in a proper environment?

next thing you know is the public schools might actually have the kids to be able to read and write in order to graduate

40 years ago, young teachers were also married mothers with 3, 4, 5 children or more. They were selfless, giving and wanted their children and students to become productive, good and often faithful self-sacrificing Christian adults. Today’s young teachers are single/divorced childless self-centered atheists. Please let me know if I’m wrong.

And if the funds are redirected to the state, expect nothing less than blue states to misuse the funds on anything but actually educating kids and increasing test scores

The opposite in places not beholden to the teacher’s Union, aka red states - it’ll be the same bs in blue states, cities and counties - in other words the abject failure of education

Every Chicago Public school teacher that I have spoke to blame the kids and their parents for the poor performance and education that the kids are getting. No blame, in their minds, on the teachers. Just poor attitudes of the families.
