Body Snatchers Contract Up?

Rumor time:

  • Pretty soon, Chicago will be phasing out its body-removal contract with Allied Services and switching to contracting with a specific funeral home. Is nepotism afoot? Being Chicago, I wouldn't be surprised.

Allied was always a scam operation. It used to take hours for them to show up until it was pointed out that keeping cops off the streets for four hours and sometime more was not the best use of manpower. That was when the 45 minute rule (75?) was instituted.

And before that, it was discovered that Allied was charging the City over $800 per removal. Comparable contracts in other cities were under $300.....and in a pinch, a wagon crew could do it for out-of-grade pay from D1 to D3, payable for the entire tour, but amounting to under $100.

And we're old enough to have met and worked with some wagon guys who were investigated (and cleared) of steering bodies to connected funeral homes for $50 per stiff.

Are we about to return to the bad old days of certain establishments getting bodies for a "fee" with associated kickbacks to Conehead's reelection campaign?

Off topic but lets talk about the worst aldermen. I vote Matt OShea. 19th ward has the worst public parks in the city, no field houses, disgusting bathrooms and grass that never gets cut. Now we have to deal with every day at Mt Greenwood and Beverly there are park bbqs filled with scumbags smoking weed and drinking right in front of the little kids. To top it all off, a male black was arrested last Friday at 6:00 PM with a 40 caliber semiautomatic Glock just 30 feet from the Beverly Parks playground with tons of kids at 6:00 PM. Oh he also had a sack of weed on him.

Slightly off topic, but still on the subject of contracts, could you find out through your sources whether all the companies with City contracts actually reduced their fees by the requested 3%. If they didn’t, I would assume their contracts won’t be renewed. Yet again, MSM overlooks this and fails to do any real investigative reporting.

Off topic but speaking of which of cars being downed on scenes waiting for snatchers , how about we address manpower . Put the green pajama wearing buzzcuts in a squad and deploy them to a district that’s short . They shouldn’t be hanging out bbq in the garage of Homan SQ all night and lifting weights . CST is basically tac you can get rid of those two yr wonders who do nothing but step in shit and leave it to the districts to fix and handle .

True ironic from news network which is based in Chicago. Point being, as far as the US goes Chicago isn’t even the radar.

That C note you got was a delivery charge. It came in extremely handy about five days before payday, when you were broke and thirsty. I started out in 1968 working skid row and saw some great innovative, individual expertise over the years handling 'stinkers.' I also witnessed some amazing compassion when handling some of the more controversial DOA's during my tenure as well. I learned a lot just by observing many of these old-time wagon guys. My first rookie summer. They put me on the wagon every day even with another PPO one day because the regular wagon guys didnt want to work a tour without A/C and do nothing but pick up stiffs. Yeah, two rookies. It was NBD. We made a run out of roll call every day to the ME and picked up 2-3 more bodies and went back to the ME office if there was time. The wagon smelled like shit and we had CFD use some Bio agent cleaner on it. It didnt help much. What a week! They never asked me to work the wagon after that...good times!

Only north side districts were involved no black, Hispanics or females were charged and they had them as working the wagon and involved in pay offs. Also you could only use funeral homes in your district. While on the westside and and southside the funeral homes paid by the pound for bodies.

None of the privileged phone calls you mentioned above will be there to help you handle a violent offender when they’re BBQ’ing in air conditioned Homan Square. $4.4 million for up to 25,000 removals. Funeral home is Wallace-Harrison on Irving park. Owned by a F/1, allegedly, and according to there proposal they submitted to the city that’s posted on the city website, 3 employees are being used for removals. The names TBD! Which means they didn’t hire them yet. 5 employees total. All minorities which gives them like 10% reduction in there bid.

Summer of 95. Fun in the sun. Every fire hydrant in the ghetto was open. Water wouldn't get to the 2nd floor and forget fire fighting. The entire water dept was driving around in anything with wheels turning off hydrants to the delight of the little rascals in the ghetto. We had no ac in our vehicles or offices, and we worked 2 12 hour shifts for about a week. Everybody including the Pilsen grandmother's kicked our asses for shutting off LA pumpa while the babies played. We called cpd often but I guess you guys had your own problems. We started to call our own " 10-1 " s and had rolling fist fights with water dept trucks rushing from rumble to rumble. Different world then,we thought it was bad, today we would probably be machine gunned for shutting down LA pumpa. And the city would probably burn. These idiots aren't ready for anything ,good thing international terror doesn't consider this shithole a worthy target.
