Nine Years, but Zero Time
Ain't Illinois "justice" great?
A 30-year-old Chicago man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for possessing child pornography after his parole agent caught him engaging in a sexual video call with a 14-year-old girl, court records show.
In 2022, Julio Rodriguez faced a 20-count child pornography indictment but pleaded guilty to a single count on August 16, 2024, receiving a three-year sentence from Judge Michael Clancy. With a 50% sentence reduction and credit for time on an ankle monitor, Rodriguez served no prison time, entering and exiting Stateville Correctional Center on August 20, 2024.
And then, you'll never guess what happened:
- Less than three months later, on December 5, a parole agent visited Rodriguez’s halfway house in the 8100 block of South Cottage Grove after he failed to report his living arrangements as required. The agent found Rodriguez with his pants down, performing a sex act while on a video call with a young girl, prosecutors claimed. Rodriguez dropped his phone, revealing the girl’s screen name to the agent before she ended the call.
This time, he caught a nine-year sentence. But if he had been inside on the previous sentence instead of "serving" ankle monitor time, he wouldn't have been able to commit further crimes.

From a citizen standpoint....WTF is the automatic 50% reduction. To me that is total BS. 3 years should = at least 2.5 if good behavior. Don't get me started on time on the AM. Does that time include the 2 days off a week? I say, if you are caught doing another crime while on AM then that time goes out the window.
The DA's Office gets all kinds of wins, when they can tell the scum bags, listen, if you plead out, we will give you x amount of time and blah, blah, blah and you will walk the day you are sentenced. ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!

I think the original version of “good time” was for every day you didn’t cause trouble while incarcerated you got a day reduction in jail time.
Now, with the new Black Caucus version under the Safe T act you get half off your sentence before you do any time. The “Black Caucus” thinks that the black man should not do anytime because anything else is racist.

Why is being on EM considered part of your “jail time”? The offender is NOT in jail, he is simply- due to the allegations and charges pending- abiding by a courts rule to not participate in any other crimes, like a bail restriction used to be, which was NOT considered as “jail time”. Who made these laws up?

But look how much money the State of Illinois is saving by not putting people, folks, and creeps in jail? The budgets are getting balanced and we have extra money to pay for social service programs to prevent crimes. Right?

I required no gov't services at my home this year. Can I get 50% off my property tax for being "a good citizen, too?"
Plus they get 2 days off while wearing the monitor for personal reasons and things like shopping, drs appts,etc. For real they aren’t supervised for those days
