Weekend Preview?
A string of 90 degree days, with the heat index topping 100 each day on tap for this weekend. Was Tuesday a warning sign?
Chicago police arrested five people, including three juveniles, as a large crowd leaving North Avenue Beach moved through Old Town and Lincoln Park on Tuesday night, according to a CPD spokesperson.
Police commanders deployed two saturation teams and tactical units from six of the city’s 22 CPD districts to manage the crowd, a source reported.
Approximately 200 people, most appearing to be in their teens or early 20s, began leaving the beach via LaSalle Drive and the North Avenue pedestrian underpass shortly before 10 p.m. Minutes later, a CPD supervisor requested additional patrol cars to help with the crowd at North Avenue and Clark Street, leading to two swift arrests.
Where's McCompstat to tell Conehead to close the beaches because it's just too damn hot? Remember, weather doesn't have anything to do with crime.
Keep an eye on the CWB blog for weekend beach and downtown updates.

Just a matter of time before they destroy some areas we aren’t in.
Shit show again this weekend for sure.
‘We’re closing North Avenue Beach due to extreme weather (high 80s),’ says Rahm Emanuel…!
Seems to me that was racial profiling.
Remember when one tact team could handle that crowd?
What a large police police response Old Town Thursday Night, Tuesday huge disturbance. What’up week days in Old Town a disaster
Wow- with a crowd that size, think of the “fun in” that was spoiled! Good job.
Is the North ave pedestrian tunnel the one that had the “Lydia the Skeemer” graffiti all those years
Who?
Some old as dirt types can recall:
"One Riot, One Ranger" is a legendary motto associated with the Texas Rangers. It signifies their reputation for handling difficult situations, even those involving large-scale unrest, with just a single ranger. The saying is said to have originated from an incident involving Captain Bill McDonald who, when sent to handle an illegal prizefight, was met by the mayor who asked where the other Rangers were. McDonald replied, "Hell, ain't I enough? There's only one prize fight!".
"McDonald was both big-headed and bull-headed, but he had sand. "
" We's just funnin..". A couple of years ago a guy was beat up and robbed by the Boo Crew, including his shoes, in the middle of the street at State and Hubbard one night. A frightened local said " ..it's almost enough to make me vote Republican..". Fuck them. Fuck those that vote for these assholes. They deserve to be looted. Give them what they asked for...
When you have an asshole Mayor supporting this crap, what do you expect?
So about a month ago the Sox played a Saturday evening game at home. Security was apprised of a “teen gathering “ to occur in outfield seats by kids from Lincoln Way HS, and alum I assume.
Almost entirely white kids started coming in, some trying to sneak in cans of beer, others obviously pre drinking in park or parking lot. Again no big deal, kids doing kid stuff.
At some point management decides no more kids from Lincoln Way can enter.
This is where it goes sideways.
So now we are arbitrarily denying admittance to ticketed people that are white and late teen to early 20s age range. Sober, ticket purchased, telling us they have family or friends inside already? Too bad, denied entry based on white and age range.
Yes some were tuned up and would have been denied entry based on that alone, but everyone denied at every gate meeting that criteria.
Imagine if they were black teens denied entry? There wouldn’t have been enough parking for the news trucks.
Wonder why days off are not canceled this weekend?
The solution may be to open fire hydrants on the corners in certain zip codes mobilizing emergency cooling stations in those at risk communities.
Interesting order for CFD. On buildings 7 stories of less you can’t go into afire unless you know a person inside. Have to wait until an officer lets you go in. Supposedly it was written to take some of the dangers of being a firefighter away. WS on the contrarian.
Gonna' be alot of misbehavin' this weekend.
Weather has absolutely nothing to do with crime. Now knock it off. An important man told me that once. So I'm going to put on all my gold chains, gold tuufs, and withdraw 10k from the bank and go ride the red line all night to prove it. Believe the science you Maga dolts.
Great. So if you live alone you're SOL.
From the link: "Two adults were also charged, the spokesperson said: Honest Williams, 19, faces charges of misdemeanor reckless conduct and resisting a peace officer ..."
Aren't the Cubs having some kinda street festival at Halsted and Addison this weekend?
Being a retired PO who works security at the park and worked that game, I can tell you that your facts are slightly off. First, it had nothing to do with a specific high school, it was students from all throughout the south of the City and surrounding suburbs. Secondly, they did not arbitrarily deny entry to students of Lincoln Way specifically or any other school generally. The directive given was to deny entry to any who attempted to sneak liquor into the park or anyone showing signs of impairment in order to avoid problems in the park. Ethnicity was not a factor, though the vast majority of the kids drinking and trying to enter were white. I can attest to the fact that many white unaccompanied high school students were granted entry as long as they did not appear impaired. I will agree that if those denied entry were black, there would be an outcry.
When DEI cowards are placed in charge, this is the result. They’re trying to make this department just like that idiotic TV show.

Not sure what gate you were at but at my gate the supervisor refused entry to any white kids teen to early 20s aged
In fact we lamely told them to go to box office to inquire about a refund which I doubt they got
I stand by account
