The White Sox announced Thursday that chairman Jerry Reinsdorf and minority investor Justin Ishbia have reached a long-term investment agreement that will allow Ishbia to obtain a future controlling interest in the organization.
Ishbia’s brother Mat Ishbia is the controlling owner of the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury. Mat and Justin Ishbia’s father, Jeff Ishbia, will also be a significant investor to the Sox.
According to a report by The Athletic in Feburary, Ishbia dropped his pursuit of the Minnesota Twins in February and increased his minority stake in the Sox.
Reinsdorf, 89, will have the option to sell controlling interest to Ishbia from 2029-2033. After the 2034 season, Ishbia will have the option to acquire controlling interest in the team.
Whereupon, the White Sox move out? This guy already owns the Sun and Mercury (NBA and wNBA).
Eight years of planning and politics on the horizon.

I’ve been a White Sox fan since birth. Just like my Roman Catholic religion. Except I have lost faith in the White Sox. They are the worst team in baseball and there is no hope for them to improve. They want a new stadium paid for by the government., us taxpayers. No way. They threaten to move the team elsewhere.? I say see you later alligator.

Hardly anyone, Reinsdorf has destroyed the fan base with such crappy teams for years. The he forced out the sole independent bar near the park, Cuddy's. If the Sox have over a half million fans total, I'd be shocked! He could've built up a genuine bar & restaurant strip there, but he wanted all the money for himself!

This could be the most ignorant stance I've seen on ScC and that's not an easy thing to do. Look at our team, and many other teams. They're young men from generally poor backgrounds who have worked for years to get to where they are. Often times spending years riding busses in the minor leagues. Lots are immigrants who without baseball would be back in Latin American countries living working class lives. Lots are from dirt poor small towns and cities across the US too. They play 162 games in 6 mouths. I'll help ya with the math thats 27 days month working. In addition to spring training, winter league, workouts and team activities. They have a union that looks out for them and squeezes scumbags owners for everything they got. Wish our union would look out for us the way MLB players union does their guys. I'd encourage you too watch a game, Just for your own edification, and look up the players on your phone, and find out who's actually playing baseball before you disparage them
