No Tasers Issued?
Anyone know why the Department didn't issue Tasers to Cancelled Day Off officers deployed to PR Fest?
Was the Department going to take full responsibility (and attached liability) for sending Officers into the field without the required equipment, seeing as how they spent how many millions ensuring that EVERY SINGLE OFFICER had a Taser available for their shift....
AND
....the Inspection Division was fully on board with gigging every Officer who didn't have a Taser on their belt for the past number of years?

I think you just need a second force option available. Either OC or ASP. Taser isn’t required.

Taser is a required force option you have to have with you as stated in U04-02-02 . I was written up when I didn't carry one.

Who is the fool that made the Inspector position the rank of political appointed clowns. Inspector’s should be from the rank of Sergeant, only requirement is that Sergeant’s that apply must have a minimum of 5 years as a District Patrol / Tactical Sergeant. They know how to deal with Important Issues like Officer Safety, Protecting Crime Scenes, not being a dog ass requiring others to pick up the slack. Superintendent Larry Snelling should change this order immediately.

So if its mandated to carry a Taser, and the Dept. doesn't provide them, the Inspector's write ups should be voided as invalid. And from my quick read of "CPD Uniform and Property U04-02-02", it doesn't appear uniforms are required to carry one: "If there is an insufficient supply of Tasers, they will be issued at the district station supervisor's discretion, ensuring there is one Taser device issued to each field unit, when possible." There's enough holes in that policy to drive a truck through on a grievance methinks.

Technically oc spray and baton (or asp) are both required. Taser is not.

And how is a sergeant supposed to write up another sergeant or a lieutenant? That would be absurd. Inspectors are Captains, with rank authority above everyone on a district watch. Like them, hate them, whatever, but it's the only rank that makes sense.

Well when the off duty CHICAGO Officer decided to be a douche and act high and mighty over another agency across the country, he brought it on himself. Don’t piss in someone else’s pool.
Breaks have always been given to the deserving who don't give the on duty P.O.'s a hard time. I'm gonna say he acted like a total JO and was treated as such. I'd lay down money he's got 5 or less years on and if it's more then the CPD is worse than I thought. Imagine what this dickhead is like at work!!!

Back in the day, inspectors were lieutenants, and they hated being called lieutenant, but they still did the job of an inspector. They started making captains inspectors when they realized captains didn't have anything to do.
