Can they correct a wrong done to a fine Officer?
Former leaders of the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) are urging federal prosecutors and Cook County State’s Attorney Eileen O’Neill-Burke to bring charges against three members of the Spanish Cobras street gang in the 2011 murder of Officer Clifton Lewis.
Lewis, an off-duty officer working as a security guard at a West Side convenience store, was shot during an attempted robbery.
Alexander Villa, Edgardo Colon and Tyrone Clay were indicted in connection with the murder but had their charges dropped by former Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx.
Former Chicago FOP President Mark Donahue and former Second Vice President Martin Preib contacted National FOP President Patrick Yoes to request federal involvement and urged O’Neill-Burke to refile capital murder charges.
We'd certainly like to see Justice done for Officer Lewis and his family (he was a friend). Finding an appropriate Federal charge would certainly be a big step in the right direction, not to mention further reinforcing the correct perception that Crimesha was a useless turd of a states attorney.

The murderers deserve death and then burn in hell for eternity.
However, I smell FOP politics brewing. Martin Preib is still crying about losing the election. Are they trying to embarrass Cat-man for not doing this.
Society doesn't exist when you can kill Peace Officers and walk away. The next level will be anarchy and civil war.

Murdering any police officer needs to be a federal charge. Attempting to murder a police officer needs to be a federal charge. Do not allow biased, incompetent states attorneys like Kim Fuxx near any criminal prosecutions. Do not allow Soros appointed judges to preside over these cases. And most of all DON'T ALLOW CHICAGO IDIOT VOTERS TO SIT ON THESE JURIES!
I agree the penalty should be death.
However, who makes the effort to seek a new trial, state of federal is of no concern. Politics aside, a brother was killed, and justice should be primary for all of us. Foxx was not a turd, but a very dangerous person masquerading as the States Attorney. Anti-police and racist bitch, she did the bidding of the "Qu tip" head of the Cook County Board. Soros funded her, but she destroyed the office, on purpose. Just my very old and humble opinion.

Burke can refile charges. Double jeopardy doesn't attach because that POS Crimesha dropped the charges, so no jeopardy existed.
Don’t blame the courts or attorneys for this debacle. Look inside CPD. The dicks on the case, particularly JH from A/5, totally incompetent and way over their heads in this investigation. These were career burglary dicks who did nothing but suspend cases. If the offender was not in custody by P.O.’s from district of occurrence they were forever free to roam. They had no idea what to do and supervision sucked. Just a shame that nobody put a stop to this charade as it was occurring

1.) pulled out of arbitration . Still NO contract .
2.) talked cops into “ holding the line “ and then saying afterwards we only suggested it .
3.) spent $100 k of PPP money on a trailer to make burgers
4.) made by- laws to not allow members to see the financial statements
5.) John has gotten a cr number on another cop in the Academy and demanded he be transferred .
6.) spent on average three million dollars a year more than his predecessors .
7.) just recently voted to raise money for prescription drugs .
This crew is never in the office and does only stuff that gets them notoriety .

Not on topic, but the slumtimes (suntimes) editorial board ran another hit piece on our pensions for officers hired after 2011 after the bill was proposed to fund them further. Un fuckin real. Guess they want less cops and more crime?

Definitely go Federal with the charges here. Those prosecutors have an ~90% conviction rate and, under the current DC administration, your three amigos here could actually get the death penalty. Might make some other homeys think twice.

Came to the Area as a robbery, so RBT dicks were assigned. Officer wasn’t deceased at time job got called into the Area. JH cried after the death and shit his pants. Not known there was a copper involved at the time. Bosses let him keep the job, they were scared too. So, it got screwed up and you know the rest.

Why not ask how the investigation was tattered with so many flubs from the ones in charge. All looking harder for credit and notoriety than solving this despicable crime.
