A new study shows Chicago’s crime decline is part of a national trend that’s driving murders, carjackings and sexual assaults below pre-pandemic levels.
The report from the Council on Criminal Justice shows nationally, violent crime rates for the first half of 2025 were lower than in the first half of 2019. In Chicago the drop in homicides from 2019 to 2025 was significantly larger than the national average.
It's almost like someone turned off a....leaky faucet or porous or an open door or something.
And then, took a sponge or a mop and bucket or something similar and started cleaning up and deporting the mess that had been inflicted on the entire country, but especially in the place where the "water" was deeper than the rest of the country.
But that would make sense. It must be something else.

Crime goes away for two primary reasons: 1) physical deterrence, or 2) economic incentives/disincentives. Is it really inconceivable that the gangs are now on the political payroll in some fashion?
Keep deporting the illegals. The m1’s don’t kill as many people when the illegals are away from there profit centers (open air drug markets).
Maybe the criminals are moving to the suburbs and northwest Indiana.
It's not accurate (no pun intended) to only count the number of homicides, because that really says something about the accuracy of the shooters and not much about shooting crime rates.
Year-to-year, they should count the number of shootings and then calculate the percentage of shootings that result in people/folks wounded, people/folks murdered, and incidents without injuries. That would be a better overall gauge (again, no pun) of that category of crime.
Example: say that there are 1,000 shootings in a given year and 500 were murdered. Then the next year, same number of shootings but only 400 murdered. Would we feel safer, or could government declare crime is down because homicides are down?
Crime rates, as the city posts them, are always like a street corner magician's magic tricks.... another gimmick to fool the public with.
Part of the reduction in crime rates should be attributed to the exodus of citizens from the City and the fine work of the medical profession which saves countless lives of people and folks who would otherwise not survive.
Haven't some cities stopped reporting stats to the feds, further undermining the accuracy of such reporting?
Part of crime reporting may also be attributed to the under-reporting of crime thanks to fetal policing.
In Chicago, the incarceration and killing of 10-15 people changed things. Some of these thugs removed from society could have 30 or more bodies.
well,,,,, when the civilian victims give up waiting for a car to show up and take the crime report they leave and then the car has no crime to report, so the city sees that as a win/win, they get to say crime is going down
Or, it could be that all the police departments and FBI are cooking the crime books?

Conehead says his administration is alone responsible for the drop in crime. The largest mass deportation effort in history is more likely. Another good reason is that all the active shooters in Chicago are dead or maimed and as soon as another generation of angst ridden children with bad parenting learn to pick up a gun, we will be back in business and number one again.
It’s a good sign that self deportations are taking place. Hopefully blue America loses 25+ electoral votes and congressmen after next census. Crime will crash when the democrats crash.
Strangely enough, our numbers started trending lower in February. We're also seeing less non-members of the community found shot in the community. Brandon's Justice Involved Violence Influencers, sorry, "Interrupters" must have been donning insulated yellow vests to get the job done early and set the tone for the rest of the country.

Crime down mostly due to nationwide Concealed Carry Laws, nothing else. Watch the Politicians jump on the bandwagon and pat themselves on the back, but never mention this. Instead they will lie as usual, and claim the success is due to one of their phony programs.

Had dinner last night with our progressive-democrat Beverly friends, both with city jobs, white white-collar baby-boomers: moan, Trump, moan, Trump, moan more. Every member of their family was mugged at gunpoint in past five years. Moan Trump moan.

Numbers don't matter. If you're #500, #400, the only 1, or any number in between - you're dead. Hopefully, we all get better at, or keep, "dodging the bullet." (No pun intended.)
