Poor People Exempt from Law

Do we have to show a tax return or something?

  • A program designed to allow low-income Chicago residents to have their traffic fees waived has been made permanent due to a new law.

What we know: Under the program, eligible fees, fines, and costs due to traffic violations would be waived in Cook County for people experiencing financial hardship.

County judges determine who is granted a fee waiver.

The program was established in 2021 with a sunset of 2024. It was extended through this year, but state lawmakers voted to make the program permanent during this past legislative session.

What they're saying: The Chicago-based state lawmaker that sponsored the bill explained why he pushed for the change.

"We do not believe someone should be forced into homelessness because they can’t afford to pay a speeding ticket," said State Sen. Javier Cervantes (D-Chicago). "This new law extends grace to some of the most vulnerable members of our community, and I am proud to be a leader in getting it passed into law."

We don't know - if you can afford a car, plates, stickers, insurance and gas, then you can afford to either obey the f#$%ing law or pay the fines that go along with breaking the law. Or just take the damn bus.

Additionally, if they're in danger of losing their housing because they constantly drive like assholes, maybe they can just live in their car to save money.

So when this same group of people are given reparations, on a monthly or yearly basis, into perpetuity, does this mean they will then have enough money to pay their traffic fines, utility bills and property taxes?

Poor, but they own cars? Are they exempt from paying the vehicle sticker fee, license fee, gas tax, etc? Always perplexed me, in my youth, I would take the Brown Line downtown and as we passed over Cabrini Green I would see parking lots filled with vehicles.

It’s the same ‘low income people’ (who probably can’t read somehow passed the Rules of the Road written exam if they even have a license) who routinely drive through Stop signs, ignore red lights, use the left turn lane to coast right back into traffic they can’t be bothered with and park wherever they feel like that can’t be accountable for their traffic violations.

Their definition of poor people only includes those already living in their cars or illegals cut off from the cash flow. Bet it's done by demographics.

In other words, there will be absolutely NO incentive to follow the law and drive like decent people.

It is a continual attempt to make any and all criminal acts non enforceable.
This is why you have crowds in streets damaging vehicles and property. While claiming it’s a peaceful protest? So Arson, Burglary followed by CDTP are just people letting off steam? And Battery on the Police Officer is just a citation? What the hell do you think would happen if no police attended the Pride parade or its aftermath?

Get ready officers……you are the punching bags for the elected officials that make these law changes. All while the politicians are protected by armed police and their favorite judges.

It’s amazing the city will cancel days off for the Officer….but the Officer is never the Victim here?

So when a States Attorney or Judge is the alleged victim, tell them to go to court and get a summons on the unknown offender?

And if it’s an elected official with a person and a gun shows up at his front door. Tell the elected official to find a Cop who cares to do the arrest or report?

Literally there is no reason to live in Illinois where only people who work, and obey the laws are held accountable.

So now poor people are exempt from paying fines because apparently speeding tickets cause homelessness…. At a recent session too, they also changed it to where d/l’s won’t be suspended anymore for FTA unless the moving violation is apparently a misdemeanor. So there’s that. You’re exempt from the fine for driving like a jagoff in general but if you don’t even show up to court people, nothing will happen to you anyway. So what’s the motive for actually being a law abiding citizen these days?

"as we passed over Cabrini Green I would see parking lots filled with vehicles."
I worked at Cabrini back then, NOT a Cop.
By 9AM most of the cars were gone, many of the residents worked, also the baby daddy's.
Similar at Taylor and Wells.
The trick was not to show the income.
Also you do not others to know you might have two nickles to rub together, you will be robbed or worse.
Had a young man working for me at a nice mega corporation, arrived about an hour early every day dressed like Super Fly! and change into normal attire, and change before going home.
He also drove the ugliest car you can imagine, like a strange green turd on wheels.
His mother owned a house deep in the City, and he stayed to help her.
He had safe places to park the car near a CTA stop away from the house, and tried not to have a pattern to his movement.
Life in the City sucks.

Section 8 and illegals are the people the politicians back in this state, the immune class, if you can't see it by now, don't endanger the rest of us who have a life outside of this shitty job. If you are a proactive officer or some dipshit TAC tickle retard think again, these animals will NOT obey the "law of the state or ordinances". You are fucking dumb and don't get it, just sit in the a courthouse for trials and see what the verdict/judgements come down to. Why are politicians, judges, ASA's, the news/media/tv/radio and even GENERAL mass want decriminalization and no one in jail? They fucking don't want "people/folks" in jail so they can let them "roam around" and free up the budget for other social experiments/gov. handout programs. When you realize our job is to merely report crime and MAYBE just MAYBE get violent felonies and domestic crimes, you will understand this state is so progressive they let people out on their own recognizance because it's by design and you are just a damn cog in the machine they can crush under XYZ.

Its the least progressive democrats can do. Its only fair when a person who has Section 8, SNAP, ILHEAP, LINK, Medicare, public defenders and SSI Disability be granted a citation amnesty government benefit. As for insurance, keep it real cause you got uninsured insurance expenses factored into your state mandated by law auto operating insurance. Try a lifestyle of no job-no vacation, waking up late in the afternoon missing out the free meals at the educationally bankrupt public school facilities, smoking weed all day, constantly on the prowl to perpetrate uncommitted barn animal husbandry without consequences, no name lesser sustenance food items provided by NGOs at the food giveaways, dodging bullets, standing upright on the corners without any purpose and demanding more for the non working class in certain zip codes. Fair is fair. Hey working class, pay your fair share. Pay your tickets or else or face the music.
