Cancel the Cancellation
So after ruining everyone's weekend with four straight days of cancelled days off (Friday through Monday), we're told that the Department cancelled the cancellation of Monday's twelve-hour extravaganza at around 2200 hours on Sunday night.
Since everyone not working was likely asleep after the first three days cancelled, they didn't know their day off had been restored and went into work anyway.
We have to say, the main thing we don't miss about the job is the incompetency of just about everyone on the administrative side of things.

The only thing they ruined were my plans to go on the medical rolls...
I retired last week, I do not, and will not, ever miss this job. I'll miss all the fine people I had the pleasure to work with, and I hope their day will come soon. You cannot wipe the smile off my face - it feels great!
Days off were cancelled last weekend.
Then after we worked them, we were told they actually weren’t cancelled, and we had worked VOLUNTARILY! We absolutely did not volunteer. This scheme was concocted to get the city out of paying 6th and 7th day pay of course.
Everyone this effected that was not contacted by a CPD supervisor by telephone informing you that your cancelled day off was canceled, should fill out a overtime request to credited with a minimum of 3 hours of overtime
When I was on the job and that happened, I would just let whoever showed up work. But of course that was me. Retired in 2023 after 30 years.

That’s what the Highest ranks of the department think of US! The Boss could care less of the men and women who put their lives on the line for the city. We work for idiots.
Shit way to treat the troops
Something to put in the contract next time. Other trades have it. They have to cancel by like 10 pm for a day shift or you get 4 hrs pay show or not. Financial pain compliance is all they understand

In the district I work it sure was nice having extra bodies. No backlog. Back to normal now with a few down cars. Bosses don't seem to care that we are down basic primary beats

So basically, cancelling Monday just further proves they DID NOT need to cancel RDO's city wide in the first place. Fuck Snelling and his bullshit speech to try and pump up the moral...go back to the gym and stfu. Those who went on the medical this past weekend...KUDOS!!! I have no skin in the game anymore but heard tact teams and other units still had to work 12hrs on Monday. Everyone else went back to their regular schedules. I’m sure some of those boys and girls didn’t mind though

I have always said the worst part of the job is not the murders, robbers, rapists and thieves. The worst part of the job are the bosses.

Amen to that! I retired 18 months ago and I can tell you with absolute certainly that the powers to be running the department is the highest level of incompetence that I have ever seen especially when comparing them to the bosses of the 90's however for now post retirement life is very good. I still enjoy reading the blog for my daily dose of humor. Be safe brothers and sisters in blue.
Back to normal operations. Enjoy your day off if you want. If you go in for 15 minutes you get 6 hours. If you do something like task, duty or are assigned to do something by a supervisor it's a full tour, even if you leave after an hour. So if a boss asks you can you print that report, do your e-learning or move a car, it's a full tour of duty.

Wow, they denied your family gatherings ahead of time, then while deep in the stages of REM sleep recovering from 36 hrs of in 3 days of work, the don't apologize but simply send a low key email that you can now travel to your destination the day of. This department is ran by 1st graders and led by a gym rat.
