A disciplinary hearing was conducted on Thursday for Fop Lodge 7 President John Catanzara . There were numerous charges of financial malfeasance brought by the 1st VP who was recently demoted from a field rep by the accused . Catanzara was accompanied to the hearing by his attorney and refused to answer several questions asked of him.
Catanzara called witnesses to support His case but they testified that he did not pay back money he was supposed to . He “ allegedly “ said he had used the Fop credit card on vacation when he visited Croatia and Jamaica . The next meeting is the third Wednesday of next month and anyone who has a question should be there. The real question is how will the entire Fop Board handle this in relation to discipline? Are we paying for another attorney for Catanzara ?
Obviously, this is the basis for the rumored discussion someone overheard along the lines of, "But if I pay it back, then there's no problem, right?"
Actually, it's a problem, and a pretty large one. The FOP isn't a piggy bank or a pay-day loan service, fronting interest-free loans to previously bankrupt members who can't manage their own finances. If it was, we would have traveled more extensively when we were members.
So now what? Does the hearing committee of three render a decision? Is the membership stuck waiting until the next meeting? Any additional oversight? Any information about other on-going investigations or why the FOP is paying some shyster $450 per hour for what looks like a personal issue rather than an organizational one?
By the way, has anyone seen the $10K painting yet?

Was present at the meeting, it’s very concerning. A good source said he has a civilian friend who is on drugs, that he spends his time with. Why would you hang around someone on drugs. This man has appeared on his early videos when he was newly appointed. Another problem is transparency. We should know where the money is spent. The VP should be our choice, not his. The VP should have remained, John removed. Trips, concerts, painting, expensive outings, all on our dime. Strange behavior at the meetings. From yelling, to odd random remarks. He even addressed being on the blog as a topic. He admitted to subpoenas being issued. When will we get answers, now or after charges are filed. Who would take his place and run the union? These are questions we all should be concerned with.
Answers from him would be nice.

John Catanzara has been exposed for what he is finally . For twenty five plus years he has attacked everyone in his presence . He’s been to the Police Board four times , violated orders of protection , worked while on the medical and had every form of transportation repossessed . Lost his condo , truck ,boat and in a short time what could be his freedom .
He’s lied , manipulated injured police officers and done just about everything he could to get where he is today .
The sad part is the majority of cops don’t attend meetings and see what this guy is all about . This Board has failed completely to safeguard their members hard earned dues and spent them in whatever whims Catanzara wanted .
This Board was not voted in by all the members but Catanzara knew that 2,700 lay at the Post Office uncounted . This backfired on him because the ones who did not run with him fell in line out of fear or just plain inability to speak out . That allowed him to fleece the money he never earned .His motto was “ with the advice and consent of the Board!” With no one to scrutinize his spending he bought trucks , trailers and went across the country living first class while cops toiled working twelve hour days . While cops sat “stripped “ he ordered steaks and lobster . He pulled out of arbitration and we still don’t have a contract .
Hopefully one day this Union will elect representatives who put their members first and not themselves . What an absolute travesty that finally the ones who supported him the most actually took that long to see what he is .

I’m hearing MAJOR agita at the FLOP HQ. A handful of board members and the Lodge attorneys have been spit balling and trying to figure out a game plan for when charges come down. They’ve been in nonstop meetings and working into the wee hours. Day to day operations have been discussed at length in the event more than just Catanzara gets charged. Tension is so thick you can cut it with a knife… everyone suspects everyone else of talking to the Feds and they’re walking on egg shells wondering if/when they’ll be implicated, especially after McGuire and the secretary deviated from the script they’ve been rehearsing at the direction of President Bankruptcy. Smart money says this goes much deeper than how it appears. And to think… it was a couple “crazy, bitter broads” making outlandish accusations with no proof. Can’t wait to see how many Jcat nut huggers will eat their hat when their hero gets locked up.

Lets say it was a business day and put the money back. This would result in your disbarment or a lengthy suspension. Most States would consider such conduct a serious violation of trust under the Rules of Professional Conduct.

Pallohusky said the same thing, that he intended to pay it back. Big problem, that $$ isn't yours to play with in the first place! He needs to be removed from the board; his salary and medical benefits that we all are paying for needs to stop; all his assets/purchases he made while in office seized; charged accordingly; and the rest of the board needs to be removed for allowing this go go on under their noses (although I suspect many of them knew what was going on all along).

The reason for the use of FOP credit cards was to bring up his own personal credit score. He’s a financial failure but relies on FOP dues, PAC money and other salaries to live a lavish lifestyle and buy a home. Free auto and health ivsurance new cars , trucks. The members need to see the contract between the Lodge and this outside law firm John hired at $425 an hour. A request to view it had been made but John, Rob Noceda and our in house attorney, Pat Fioretto are refusing to make it available. Members have every right to view this contract, especially since it might be serving as a contract to represent John in the federal investigation he is currently under. The members should NOT be on the hook for legal fees he incurred as a result of him stealing from us!

The issue is threefold.
1. Should not have had Vallas negotionate forus.
2. Hire different attorney, not d’alba who has represented us for 4 contracts
3. Because the job has deteriorated so much and police are now forbidden to do anything remotely policelike only have 2 issue ———-residency and pay. Make them pay for neutering us.
If there is evidence that comes out showing improper use of funds by Catanzara then he will be removed. Let the process pan out and the truth shall be known. All of the comments and attacks do no good to anyone. The committee will render its decision at the next board meeting. I feel for whoever is on the committee because they will come under attack no matter what they decide. The only thing that I will speculate on is the fact that the 1st VP came up with the charges and he would never do so unless he felt there was behavior contrary to the best interests of the lodge and its members. All the other nonsense maybe funny with the name calling and nicknames given, but its important to note that these are CPD members and an element of respect is hope for. Be safe all.

Catanzara hired three extra field reps at $160 k each to do what ? He has a $1,600 apartment down in Springfield and when the jury comes in he’s stole a bucket load of cash .
