Chicago police union president John Catanzara faced a mutiny by opponents who claimed he misused money; but an internal investigation has cleared him of wrongdoing, several sources tell WGN Investigates.
“City Hall and [police] headquarters are going to have to wait a little longer to get their way,” Catanzara quipped....
But according to two different people we talk to (neither involved in filing the previous allegations), after the Board meeting where Catanzara's hand-picked committee excused his actions, federal agents showed up at the FOP office for a copy of the meeting transcripts.
Why would they want transcripts of the meeting?
Are they comparing what was said at the meeting to what was said somewhere else? Or how what was said lines up with what any paperwork shows?

I hope it’s true. There is just way too much evidence to even pretend it’s all a mixup or misunderstanding. There’s not a shred of doubt in my mind that John has broken the law and having an in-house inquiry is complete bullshit. I think the actual amount of money misappropriated far exceeds the total of the instances referenced in the charges. The simple fact remains: if there was no wrongdoing, all financial records should be available and produced for viewing by the members when requested. Just like they’ve always been. Period. Full stop.

There you have it folks the narcissistic big mouth just can’t stop blabbing about everything. Hope they asked for board meeting minutes from July or August 2021 a board member asked John if he was returning campaign money after the Midwest coalition told him he wasn’t going to be nominated or backed for National President and he said “NO.” The board member then asked what he should tell the members if they asked why, and his answer was “TOUGH SHIT.” Think this is a witch hunt? Go read them. You will also see a few board members offering to “handle someone” who proposed bylaw changes that they didn’t like because it would reduce their salaries after the next election. They found them “unconstitutional” but didn’t notify or explain why. The feds know the hearing was recorded. They also know what John said at that hearing. They also know the committee heard what he said at that hearing and that the committee unfounded the charges. Anyone who was there at that hearing should have expected different findings because he admitted to several different offenses. Hope there are charges against the committee and the board members who rubber stamped to cover it up. Drain the swamp. Have a special election. Anyone who has never been on any FOP board, has at least 10 years left to work and wants to make it better for active police, please step up.
Showed up for transcripts of the meeting? Rob Noceda doesn’t have those done until weeks after the meeting…. Unless they took his trusty little recorder…. Either way I’m sure Rob took his drinks with the JCAT victory lap….
Just because he’s off the hook with FOP does not mean he’s not being investigated by various agencies for all kinds of crime and wire fraud. Wait until they stop feeding Fred Flintstone Cosentino, he’ll confess
To do the same thing every generation before them has done? Time to get rid of FOP maybe, cops can’t run a union.
What happens when they find misconduct? Will the whole board be fired? Will they be indicted also for collusion? This clown will find a way to stay in charge, because he ll say he hasn’t been found guilty of anything. He s not going anywhere any time soon. Even through the right thing to do would be to step aside, When he is indicted.
Typical Catanzara quip, more arrogance than substance. City Hall and HQ aren’t the ones who should be waiting. It’s the dues paying members and retirees who’ve been waiting far too long for honesty and accountability. Feds need to look DEEPER into his personal accounts, FOP books, the RCPA books from 2021-2024. Who paid for Cosentino’s month long vacation to Italy? Inquiring minds want to know.

Oh we are well aware of these minutes as we’ve personally read them. Same with the minutes where John admits to using PPP money for the food trailers. Same with the minutes where John admits to meeting with Sean Loughran to allow the city/HR to circumvent the canine test results to promote people to bomb dog handlers who never took or ranked as eligible for that position. John has been dirty and compromised since day one in office. And since he can’t control his ego and big mouth, he openly brags about his unethical and corrupt actions on record. Records which were happily provided to investigators. The Smartest Man In The Room gave them the very rope with which he’ll hang himself. Dollars to donuts he constantly pisses off his high priced attorney by making suggestions, offering his “expertise” etcetera. John just can’t help himself. I wonder if the Feds will thank him for making their job easier when he’s convicted?
The FEDS had a subpoena for the union not to destroy any texts or transcripts or emails, pretty standard stuff. This is getting boring.

Here’s something that people have to realize that should speak volumes .
1.) Why is a corruption attorney hired by John’s Board to protect the “ Lodge “ at the Board meeting answering questions instead of Catanzara? They waited until he showed up to have Beasley read his report .
2.) Noceda made everyone who showed up to the Board meeting sign in which in my memory never has happened before .
3.) On numerous occasions visitors were threatened with expulsion if they recorded the proceedings .
4.) There were allegations of back door meetings between Catanzara’s “ crew” to ensure that these charges were excused .
5.) In Beasley’s report he stated that on at least three occasions they called the attorney to asked about a clarification . Which attorney Llavin or the corruption guy ?
6.) How big is this bill gonna be when this thing concludes ? If Catanzara is indicted along with others in his crew will the legal defense come through and pay for their attorneys ? How big is this bill now ?
7.) Rumors are swirling that Catanzara has a “hit “ list of members he wants expelled
From the Union . In his video he suggests this just like what he did before he launched Mette .
7.) Charges should be filed against each and every member who voted that Catanzara used “ excessive spending “ instead of stealing !
Finally Catanzara is not going to walk away and the only way he will be accompanied by a set of handcuffs maybe two . These are for the six years of “ free “ lunches “ paid for by hardworking members . Happy holiday 🥗

Doesn’t matter if he did. I recorded it and have already tendered a copy to the lead investigator. My oath and training mandate that I take various actions to report, document and/or attempt to stop crime. I chose to document the board meeting via my BWC. They thought they’d try to be slick and have Noceda tell people they had to sign in (surely to help identify and construct a “hit list” of likely dissenters). Well, I’m also pretty slick. You fucksticks were too concerned about cell phones to even think about BWCs. Two party consent doesn’t apply when recording crime or fruits thereof. And I dare John to bring charges against me or try to boot me from union membership once they figure out my identity. Yeah, I’m doing my part to help sink the SS Catanzara.
The federal inquiry (not investigation) is going nowhere. The file has been closed and was just an inquiry because of a complaint filed with the US A’s office.
The Lodge has nothing to do with that.
