That's what Conehead and Fata$$ have been claiming for months now.
President Donald Trump said Tuesday that violent crime in Chicago has fallen sharply since the start of a federal crackdown known as "Operation Midway Blitz," crediting the Department of Homeland Security-led effort with driving shootings and robberies down across the Windy City.
The president’s Truth Social post claimed that shootings are down 35%, robberies down 41% and carjackings nearly 50% since the operation began several weeks ago.
"This has been achieved despite the extraordinary resistance from Chicago and Illinois Radical Democrat leadership," Trump wrote.

Not gonna like, I love DJT but for ice and DHS to take credit for something we have been doing all year is pretty crappy. A lot of good work has been getting done by CPD and they come in for 2 months and claim they are the reason crime is down.. a typical page out of the FED handbook. They’ve done that on the backs of working CPD coppers forever.

Thank goodness Trump is deporting illegal criminals. That will surely help crime go down. Less criminals means safer living in and around Chicago. :)
Crime is trending down nationally and has been since 2023. COVID lockdown craziness is kaput.
Locally the new States Attorney and increasing inmate population at county jail has something to do with it. New chief judge should help too.
If Trump wants to reduce crime he needs a Trump version of 1994 crime bill. Hire more cops and prison guards etc.
I also reluctantly give Snelling some credit. CPD is marginally more active than it was under Dallas Dave.

Crime started going down this year before ICE showed up. That’s a fact. The 2025 shooting season didn’t start until mid-June partly due to rainy and cold weather and partly due to our local repeat offenders sitting in jail (thanks to hard work by our D unit). Other than keeping carjacking crews at bay and keeping Mexican Independence weekend from exploding I’m not sure how ICE can come in the 4th quarter and declare they’re responsible for winning the game.

As a civilian resident of 010, I will say that there have ZERO Latin Kings hanging out on my block all night long "reppin' the Set" since the CBP/ICE operation began.
That being said, the only ones who seem to have been arrested are the tamale ladies everyone loves. And we're sick to death of being woken up by helicopters a thousand feet above our heads.

It’s cute you thought CPD would get credit for any crime reductions to begin with. That credit is going to the mayor and whatever silly programs he thinks did anything. Since ICE started, there has been quite a reduction, turns out quite a bit of crime is committed by illegals.

I had pests in my house one time. Exterminator had to come out, look around, spray, and cost me money. I didn’t like having strangers come in my home and having to pay them money. You know what I hated more? The pests living in my wall. You have pests, and the infestation is bad. Is it fun having a bunch of outsiders in your neighborhood? Probably not. Which do you hate more, the outsiders trying to fix it, or the gang bangers? Problem with you residents of these communities is, you’d rather have the kings on your block all day and night than have to deal with the helicopter for a few months. You’re “sick to death” of the helicopters? You should’ve been sick to death of your community being infested and overtaken by gang bangers. See, I don’t have helicopters flying over where I live, because we didn’t raise a bunch of gang bangers, and then let them take over our community shooting up the place over silly shit. You know what? I haven't raised any gangbangers, are not related to any, and was already sick to death of them before Trump was anything more than a reality TV host. The problem is, CPD 10th District doesn't do a damn thing about the bangers in Little Village. Any neighbors who call 911 get harassed by the gangs, who are somehow tipped off to every address making calls (curious, no?). I've seen a beat car on my block twice in the past decade. Great you get to live somewhere with none of these problems, but I don't get paid six figures a year.
The Kings are just hiding until the helicopter show stops, then it'll be back to "normal", and all you coppers will be again burning the clock watching youtube in a squad, hiding out on the old freight rail path & pretending you don't see the gang safe houses & drug deals. Every normal, legal, working person here knows this.
As for the total ineffectiveness of every Chicago cop in 010, I don't know if it's corruption, laziness, or pure cowardice. Probably a mix of all three. But ICE ain't Elliot Ness either, that's for sure.
