Someone fired shots at Customs and Border Patrol agents on Chicago's Southwest Side, the Department of Homeland Security said. A responding Chicago police officer was injured during the incident, according to another CPD officer at the scene.
The incident happened as federal agents launched several operations Saturday in the Little Village neighborhood as part of Operation Midway Blitz, possibly detaining at least two people. In a statement posted to X, DHS said agents were conducting operations near 26th Street and Kedzie Avenue in the Little Village neighborhood when the shooting happened.
An angry crowd gathered after federal officer allegedly detained a young woman near 26th and Kedzie. Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino was there. He could be seen in cellphone video with an apparent tear gas canister in his hand. Residents demanded the detained woman's release while in pursuit of their caravan.
During the incident, DHS says an unknown male, who was driving a black Jeep, fired shots at agents and fled the scene. DHS also said "an unknown number of agitators" threw a paint can and bricks at Border Patrol vehicles.
Um, that isn't a protest - that's unlawful interference. You don't get to "demand" the release of arrestees on the street. There's a process on place for that defined in the Illinois Compiled Statutes and in legal procedures. Throwing things is Aggravated Battery. Shots fired is another felony. That's also how you get shots fired back at you.
We're getting close to the point of military intervention and justifiably so.

Does the media or general public really believe the rhetoric that "people are afraid to leave their homes to go to school and go to work" because of ICE activities, but then at the same time when ICE comes into a neighborhood those same people come out in large crowds to assault ICE and interfere with the enforcement of our nation's immigration laws?
Is 26th and Kedzie a community that Hispanic street gangs call their "territory", where they drive around with Mexican flags but never American flags? Is that community an outpost of Mexico or is it American soil?
I wonder if the Little Village community who are outraged with ICE are also outraged at the armed robbery of the jewelry store in the 3800 block in which 2 men were shot to death. Ironically the store had the "ICE Out" sign displayed. And are they outraged at the 30 year old woman who was shot on Fri on 25th St?
When they do the military intervention, the feds are going to have to get a forklift and a flat bed semi tractor trailer to haul fatso Prickster to his federal holding cell.
Little Village had a thriving fake ID industry. Could ICE be threatening that.
Let's do it, enough of this crap. Someone's going to get hurt, I hope those federal officers get time off to decompress and rest up. From some of those videos I've seen, one of them is going to snap and hurt someone unjustifiable.

This media in Chicago is beyond awful. Don’t know why I even watch. Last night Channel 2 led with “Citizens allegedly” fired shots at ICE agents in Little Village today.
Every mention of what happened included “citizens allegedly”. Where ICE agents may have done something out of line it happened, but anything including shots fired was “alleged” if it involved the community.
I watch the Chicago media daily. It's no secret who's side the Chicago media is on. I can't believe that the "peaceful protesters" are being displayed on the news, daily, being far from peaceful. I'm not out there but knowing Chicago, I can imagine what isn't being shown. It really needs to be controlled before it becomes a city wide riot.

Do Hispanics really want lawlessness and violence to be their legacy in this country? Chicago, and most of the country, was built into the city it is today mainly by German and Irish immigrants, along with Polish, Italians, Swedes, Czechs, etc. All the neighborhoods, the churches, the parks. No one is saying these people were perfect. But they built a city and culture that was the envy of many other people. Little Village was a Polish neighborhood up until a few decade ago and there are many decent, law abiding Hispanics that live there now. Why are those law abiding Hispanics letting their legacy be written by the lawless and violent?
Supposedly, ICE has grabbed 3,000 illegals in Operation Midway Blitz. A good start. We can only guess how many have self-deported. If they keep this up for a little while longer, they can break up this entrenched bastion of illegal immigrants for good.
I worked for CFD in Little Village for years. There are some good people there. But, Holy Cow, there are some incredibly violent savage gang bangers there as well. I don't know why the decent people put up with it.
