Retiree Pension Election
So after the retired rep passed, there's a spot open on the Board. There are two names on the ballot:
- Saul Del Rivero
- Eugene Roy - former exempt
We have received no campaign literature for either.
We don't know Del Rivero.
We only know Roy from his extramarital fling with a subordinate at his vacation home where the wife caught him in flagrante delicto which resulted in quite the scandal at the time. The subordinate later made sergeant somehow....maybe it was a secret study group?
Who's qualified? Who has our best interests in mind?

My darkest and toughest moments in life, he reached out to me when he didn’t have to and had other bosses reach out and offer me support thru the department. A little OT. Retired officer here Our Aenta Medicare Advantage supplemental Medicare changed this January 1. They changed the prescription part to Silverscripts for prescriptions. Does anyone have the reason why as now we have 2 insurance cards and the cost of certain prescriptions has really gone up why would this be changed and who do I contact to find out. The plan was from FOP I think

I retired years ago. I don't read the blog very often, as I find it disturbs my disposition, It's like this job never gets any better, and I really do feal sorry for the working police officer. I don't know the other guy, I was alerted to the fact that Gene Roy is running, from other retired PO's and Det's. and I am compelled to write this.
Gene Roy was no crackerjack P.O. or Det. or Sgt. or Lt. or Cmdr. or Chief of Det's. Okay, not everybody is cut out to be the police, in fact, do police skills translate into being able to oversee our pension? No probably not.
But while commander of 009 he has a dalliance with a subordinate. Okay not good but "He who is without sin cast the first stone" in addition however he ran the 009th district into the ground. He then moves to the Det. Division and rapidly destroys the B&A section, with his "air quotes", ambiguous "Run it into the end zone" orders meant to give him an out, in case it becomes apparent that he has no clue as to what he's doing. Now I'm told he's had part in the pension fund before, and our funds declined under the Vanecko / Daley investments plan. Then the scandal related to the LaQuan McDonald shooting where he was "enticed" to retire and placed on the "Do Not Rehire" list for the City of Chicago. All the while glad handing with every politician he can.
Now, I may going out on a limb here but is it possible, just possible that the re-occurring theme in Gene Roy's career is that he lacks any amount of integrity?

I will say what noone wants to say. Last election JC (and another corrupt member on the pension board) conned Tom L to run for the retiree position on the pension board just to keep Ro G from winning. They knew Tom L was deathly ill, and their con job on the retirees won Tom L the election. What happened - noone heard one word from Tom, who was unable to attend meetings, and he sadly passed.

My father in law was on the job. After he retired, he had a heart attack. While my mother in law was rushing from work to the hospital, Gene Roy called her up and told her he had died. Never worked for Roy, but he had to call up a wife first, so he could break the news.
Years later I was at an open house in Sauganash. It was Roy's house. He had two dozen pictures of him in uniform posing with every democratic politician he could find. Does anyone think he would stand up to a pol who calls and says give special consideration to my friend.

So pull up the voting roster for each situation that you claim Roy is responsible for. Show me Roy voted yes for forgiving the city $20 million, or for John Thomas getting like of duty death, or for Vanecko getting our pension loan.

What should concern everyone is the FOP JRAT pushing his agenda to control our pension board while under FBI investigation. Retiree money deserves transparency and independence not politics and self-interest. Vote Eugene Roy and keep the FOP out of our pension fund.
I have reviewed both of them thoroughly. Do not vote for Gene Roy and trust Lally and Merk to bring Saul up to speed quickly so the pension doesn't become a "pay as you go" for the city on a yearly basis.
