Funeral Cancelled
This sounds like some bizarre movie script, except it's tragically real and heartrending:
The funeral for Michael Altman, a Chicago firefighter killed in a Rogers Park blaze earlier this month, was canceled after his wife went into labor Thursday.
The funeral, scheduled for Friday, will be rescheduled for a later date, according to the Chicago Fire Department. Visitation was still scheduled to take place Thursday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the St. Rita of Cascia Shrine Chapel, 7740 S. Western Ave.
Altman was among the firefighters who responded to a fire behind a four-story building in the 1700 block of West North Shore Avenue that started around 11:20 a.m. March 16, Deputy District Fire Chief Kelly Burns told reporters at the scene. Burns said he fell through a floor that collapsed.
Hopefully, everything goes / is going smoothly for Mom and her newest child is surrounded by an outpouring of love and support in the absence of Dad.
God Bless the Altman family.

Possible IED found in front of police academy
all thanks to the democRATic politicians
It's a girl! Mom and baby doing fine.
God bless the Altman family.
Heartbreaking. One of the greatest moments of her life and one of the saddest moments of her life at the same time. God bless the family.
You have it backwards, DEI spotted at the academy.
I can only picture that the agony of emotions she feels.
Funeral might be rescheduled around Easter.
Mike had a baby girl her name is Evelyn Rose Altman.
This made me cry. (Yes am a girl! Can't call us the fairer sex, but indigress)
Heard baby Evelyn Rose is doing very well. May the entire family be surrounded by love, the children grow up fabulously, and may they never have a financial worry ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
God Bless the Altmanโs
Yes you're correct
Every cop....Every fireman.....Every Chicagoan should pledge to do whatever they can for the family
Mom and baby should never want for anything.
It really is heartbreaking. Your only hope is that she grows up with her dad as the angel on her shoulder.
Wow, sad.
Itโs the entire department. Noting but a new form of public aid. Kinda reminds me of CTA or Postal Workers.
Not a cop but just asking how exactly did the 5 top bosses in the police department each earn every possible ribbon to wear in their uniform when all were merit pics who worked in non policing assignments
From the song Part of the Plan by Dan Fogelberg, "one day we'll understand..."
Sad. A little girl won't have her Daddy.
80% of Chicago is too worried about supporting criminals. Pathetic.
Mick Belker Says:
This is just too sad for words. Rest In Peace, brave Hero.
I agree, every 'happy' birthday celebration for the newborn, will be obscured with the 'sad' loss of the father. Rest in Peace, kind sir. Keep watch over the family, now overlooking from the Heaven's above.
There are a lot of DEIโs in the academy and they all arenโt recruits
Tell me youโre a public school student without telling me youโre a public school student. Yikes!
She wanted to see her daddy before he was laid to rest.
