Justice for Root Beer!

Jail time avoided:

  • The man convicted of tossing root beer in the face of former Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx was sentenced to a year of probation on Monday, bringing to an end a case that critics say highlighted the county’s two-tiered justice system, in which some victims appear to hold a premier status.

William Swetz, 35, was convicted of aggravated battery in a public place on November 17 after a bench trial before Judge Tiana Blakely. At the same time, the judge found him not guilty of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.

The Illinois Attorney General’s Office handled the prosecution during Swetz’s two-day trial at the Markham courthouse.

When a moron meets another moron, moronic stuff happens.

But as CWB notes, it did highlight the two-tiered system in place to protect the clouted from their own idiocy by pretending to be better and more important than the peons they rule over.

OFF TOPIC-To piggyback on yesterday's disability post regarding the officer who was forced to perform a FCE test with a toy gun is true. I worked with that officer a few times and he was what we used to call "The Real Police" until his injury. The Medical Section nurse Arvetis made the owner of Sports and Ortho manipulate his examination in multiple ways so he could pass and yes, the owner went ahead with this manipulation of using a toy gun to qualify. A toy gun does not have a recoil; due to his injury they knew it would hurt or injury him further. He has been on no pay status for over a year or two. To those officers who have legitimately suffer life altering injuries on duty, challenge them and ask questions. Document everything through email to leave a paper trail. The city doctor's also cave in into their demands. You also need an attorney who is not part of the FOP, they don't care about you, period. That useless woman Monica Ortiz from the FOP told another officer I know that since he can't carry a weapon the city will place him light duty in another city agency such as the water department, streets and sans or alike. The officer said that those were scare tactics to make him go back to work light duty with CPD. By contract, by law, if you are injured on duty that alters your physical or mental well-being the city is responsible to respond. These two officers' injuries are real, but they lost their benefits thanks to those who abuse the system. Remember, we are all dispensable to CPD.

It's still a conviction that will follow him around for decades. Personally, a sane world would have had an apology offered, accepted, and people would move on with their lives. But, it's not a sane world.

Just remember all this BS that Kim FOXX caused in Crook County?
So when some jackass throws a frozen water bottle at you. Or swings a pipe at your head and the States Attorneys office either refuses charges or lets case fall apart after a few years?

This guy got Battery charges approved on him and convicted for throwing root beer at Foxx? But if some protestor spits on a uniformed officer! That is just normal everyday occurrence for Officers around the Country?

If you continue to allow this misconduct it will grow more?

Still a felony conviction that may have some serious consequences in his life. No guns, voting, credit application, job search etc. Every detective, every officer has knowledge of the felony review unit denying felony charges. Clear cut evidence and denied. Root Beer assault is a miscarriage. Pedestrian rage vs road rage nonsense should not be felony material. Kim Foxx was and is an incompetent goof, a pawn of the democrats, a racist and hopefully, soon, a former attorney.

What piggyback post are you referring to? This is so sad to hear. Is there a 10-1 benefit for this officer?

To all of you stupid hard chargers, if you ever become injured, this is how the CPD treats you.

Melissa Conyers-Ervin’s campaign ads often highlight that she cared for her disabled sister and was raised by a single mother who had to fight the system. But there are countless single mothers out there raising children with disabilities and facing those same struggles every day.

What makes this messaging troubling is that she also sits on the Chicago Police Pension Board, where decisions are made about whether injured officers receive duty disability benefits. Many officers feel their claims are routinely denied. If the stories in her ads are meant to show compassion and understanding of hardship, people are right to question whether those values are reflected in the decisions being made.

There are also growing questions about where her campaign funding is coming from. Any concerns about potential connections to pension-related funds or influence should be fully examined so the public can have confidence that everything is transparent and above board.
