The president of the Chicago Board of Education is pressuring the new Chicago Public Schools CEO to cave to union demands to cancel classes on May 1 for a day of protests, according to a memo reviewed by WGN Investigates, but the new schools’ chief stood firm late Thursday.
“My position has not changed,” CEO Macquline King wrote in a memo. “As a career educator, I believe every minute in the classroom is vital for our students.” She added the entire school board should take a public vote if they want to cancel classes that day.
Why lose a day of badly needed instruction for kids who can't add, can't read and probably can't even spell "communism"?
As a couple aldercreatures point out:
“May 1 is a day on class instruction, our students need to learn in the building,” Ald. Ray Lopez (15th Ward) told WGN Thursday morning.
Another alderman agreed.
“I think it’s a terrible idea,” Ald. Nick Sposato (38th Ward) told WGN. “I respect everyone’s right to protest. Why can’t this protest be on a Saturday?”
If it was on a Saturday, everyone could attend....but then teachers wouldn't get a three-day weekend.

Spot on, SCC! I'm old enough to remember when teachers were decently paid but not outrageously so. They worked hard and partnered with, rather than tried to deceive, parents. Sure as heck didn't espouse communism. And yes, they are definitely cheating the kids of a day of instruction simply to get a PAID day off work. Sounds like child abuse and theft from the taxpayers.

Federal moneys should be based only on number of days school is open AND number of children IN CLASS on each and every day. If there is 40-50% absenteeism, no money for those absent. Hit them where it hurts.

My kids are in Catholic grade school. Oldest hits 8th grade next year and have to start looking at High Schools. By the looks of it, the CPS Magnet High Schools are off the list now. I hear Taft is a warzone now. Have a friend who’s kid was at North Side Prep and was told the majority of the kids there are confused about their sexuality. Not sure if Lane Tech is in the same boat? Seems like CTU is only focused on grooming social justice warriors. Catholic HS tuition is going to break my financial spine, but I suppose better than my kids being groomed into total nut jobs.
Are they still celebrating Cesar Chavez as their saint for the unions? Perhaps his offspring can be honored at the May 1st event.

St. Rita of Cascia is an exemplary southwest side Chicago Catholic high school with a great tradition of strong brotherhood and community for young men with outstanding academic and athletic programs. Consider sending your sons there or any of the other esteemed private schools here instead of CPS terrorism training camps.

I attended a wake for a 12 year old who took his own life because he was confused about his sexual identity. The grade school and his parents embraced and even promoted his choices. He was dressed as a girl In the coffin complete with makeup, and it was the creepiest thing I've seen in a long time. My wife and I got into an argument over it on the way home, with me stating any school authorities embracing this philosophy should be removed, and I'd take our children out of any school that disagreed with me.
FOIA the Evanston Park district to see if they had any grant money for any of those beaches because if they did then they can't restrict who's allowed to use the beach..

12:47:13 PM unfortunately, they've indoctrinated parents too. I've a friend whose daughter says she is a "boy." There is nothing even remotely "boy" about this girl. She just wants to be "different" like most teens which means they follow. The kid's therapist (whose husband is a "trans woman" - make it make sense) has steered her clear of cross sex hormones so far (but she's on birth control because she doesn't want to have a period). Meanwhile, we go to lunch etc and the supposed "boy" has a manicure and is shopping for earrings, but she stands by she's now a "boy" and demands to be called he/him. Mom and dad (he didn't at first comply) have met all this kid's whims and yet, she's still in and out of psych hospitals. Yeah, nothing to do with the kid going thru missing 2 years of adolescence during Covid and her parents going thru a divorce. They also get indoctrinated on a lot of the gaming platforms. When my friend first told me this, I asked her, "Do you remember how many of us had eating disorders when we were teens? I was one of them. All it took was the suggestion of it by a few girls at school and an after school special and there we all were- not eating or throwing up in a bathroom." Then I asked her, "So if I am convinced I'm fat but in reality- I'm 105 lbs, should everyone agree with me and give me diet pills?" My friend's reply, "It's not the same thing." There's no logical thought to any of it.
Unfortunately, it was lying in wait, infiltrating our universities, public schools, entertainment outlets and finding it's way into our mainstream politics while Republicans laughed it off and did nothing. Bernie's old ass has been around for 40 plus years.
