Officer Attacked
A brutal attack with brass knuckles:
A Chicago police officer's family said he's lucky to be alive after he was attacked on Tuesday night in the McKinley Park neighborhood.
Officer Kevin Mangan has a long road ahead because of the injuries he suffered.
A man and a woman were in custody on Wednesday night, and charges were pending against them for beating Mangan so badly they knocked out his teeth. He'll be unable to chew solid food for months, and will be off the job even longer.
He was called to the scene of people blocking an ambulance and was blindsided by the attack.
Felony charges were inbound, but we don't know if the offenders were released by Lyke or Thedford yet.
How about some Civil Suits against these offenders along with the criminal proceedings?

I blame the current training and bad policy. Many officers are fearful that they might get fired being to aggressive. When aggressive is what the situation calls for.

Morale is lower than low. The department doesn’t have our backs and the criminals are taking advantage of everything going on. Everyone is disrespectful to police and the job sucks. The bosses are incompetent.

OMG, brass knuckles! The your lucky to be alive. The only up side is they didn’t use a gun or knife. The attackers tried to really hurt you. Do the best you can this is scary times for us police. A speedy recovery is in order and use the medical every day you need it. That’s what it’s for. Injuries like this the pain lingers for a good amount of time. The road to recovery is long and slow. Your alive and that’s the important thing. This place is only a job and in time everyone who does the grunt work realizes it.

The Bosses are to blame. Did Snelling put anything out about this? No! It’s open season on police! The internet is filling up with Chicago Police Officers looking timid and taking crap. Exactly as the administration planned. An officer is just collateral damage. The last thing the department wants is a shooting. So sad………….

It is a terrible story. The officer looks so young compared to us old fucks. The really sad thing is that nothing, and I mean nothing is going to happen to the offenders. Also, I hope insurance will cover his replacement teeth, but it probably won’t because it will be considered cosmetic. If a go fund me is going to be set up to get him some new choppers, I will definitely contribute. If you’re reading this officer….get plenty of rest and take your time coming back. The shitheads will still be there when you get back

Dear God help the officer and family during this awful time. There will only be one set of footprints in the sand during this time ou their lives. The offenders? There will NOT be actual justice. Some people need 20 years in prison with IL's day for day 40 years. Unfortunately, our leaders & special interest believes a lack of jail solves problems. The truth is the only way out of this crime mess & sprees is a lot people in jail for decades. We could arrest our way out of this. All the rational to the contrary is a lie. Illinois probably needs 500k jail cells at IDOC as a minimum.
