Officer Injured
A Chicago police officer was among two people injured in a crash Thursday afternoon on the city's Southwest Side, a fire department spokesperson said.
The crash happened around 4:39 p.m. at Archer Avenue and Nagle Avenue in Garfield Ridge.
Chicago Police Department officials said a CPD squad car driven by an officer was traveling on Archer Avenue and was attempting to turn into a parking lot when it was hit by a sedan. The officer had a neck injury and was taken to a hospital in fair condition.
As has been cited here and elsewhere, traffic crashes are the leading cause of injuries to Officers nowadays. Be careful out there - many Officers are behind the wheel a majority of the hours worked.

Or reckless, irresponsible and outright lawlessness driving around the city lately. I don’t see this changing anytime soon. Be careful and beware of dangerous driving. As always stay safe. Go to your calls and go home.
Driving just isn't as fun as it used to be.
The red light cameras should be placed to catch people who enter a crosswalk before rolling through stop signs.
I don't know who's driving on Illinois roads, but you seem to have an inordinate amount of deadly accidents, hit and runs, wrong way drivers, and semi accidents.
I stay in the suburbs as much as possible.
Heal well and fully.
Prayers...
When you have illegals with no driver's licenses or insurance but with pocket cash and the ability to buy beaters, this is what you get. Thank your sanctuary policies and JB for noncompliance with federal law for it.
Yes be careful with your takehome squad that you use to drive from your house to HQ and back. He'll probably get a new car as the districts are begging for cars.
Hey....Let's be careful out there.....
Nothing on "news radio" last evening, but an Ice protest, or LGBTQ gathering....
third world drivers, third world fun
Just don’t hit a random bicyclist while driving home from your side-job in the company car, run, then get the windshield replaced by Safelight the next morning…
You should be good.
By the way, did that assclown get charged yet?
Archer Ave has been ruined by bike lanes
Right? Why the fuck does a sgt pushing paper at hq need a take home car?
All for going to Midway Sub….
And then look at you funny when you hit your brakes and slow down because you don’t know if they are going thru the stop sign
You don’t have to worry about hitting someone in the suburbs if you have a take home. The boss that got you that spot will take care of it. They take care of each other and will say they sent you to the suburb on an assignment. Gets rubber stamped approval
