The General Meeting was yesterday - what happened and what the Hell is this?
- The FOP meeting today was a shitshow. JCAT said he and the FOP board gave away the food trailer to a charity controlled by his minions. This is a sad state of affairs. Will they take the FOP decals off the sides of the cart? We were told that the issue was lawsuit liability and that's why the cart was given away. So why the F did we buy it in the first place, if it's such a high risk?
Is this true or is this some proposal to give the truck to the non-existent unapproved charity that is supposed to be funded with $50K of Dues money? What is this Lodge liability for exactly? Accusations of food poisoning? Or shielding the current admin from an audit of cash purchases?
The charity would be controlled by the same people currently running the Lodge so....not suspicious at all.
We did hear Catanzara claimed that since the Federal subpoenas were a year old, there's nothing to worry about. Someone then proposed that the Lodge stop paying the liar lawyer $450 bucks an hour if there's nothing to worry about. The president ruled the motion out of order and refused to allow it to come up for a vote, so....there must be something someone is worried about.

Food Trucks can be appraised, SOLD, and the funds returned to the FOP... but they gave it away?

That meeting was ridiculous. John went on and on about some petty allegations against former state lodge members in order to try and deflect attention away from himself. After numerous people questioned/accused him regarding his improprieties, he simply walked off the stage. The meeting continued for 30-40 minutes without him. As usual, John complained about people who talk about him online, like me right now. John hates this blog.
Our union president said nothing about the members or plans for FOP Lodge 7. The only thing he cared about was himself. This has always been the case.
Just a retired guy speaking. I bailed out of the FOP7 years and years ago. Really there was no reason to stay once I left the job and for some strange reason I could see the problems the Lodge was experiencing back then. A decal for the car which meant nothing and a phone number to call if you needed some advice or had a concern wasnt worth staying. Thankfully my dealings with the city and anything connected to it are over, done and finished. The only connection is the pension fairy and with the shape the fund is in who knows how long that’s gonna last.
We need to stop giving this scumbag our money.

I haven't been to a meeting in almost 10 years. I went to yesterday's meeting to see what's going on with all these rumors and I was appalled at how John speaks to the members. I did gather that that food truck thing isn't a done deal. From what I understand, the $50,000 shows that this asset transfer isn't about liability. I believe the majority of people in that room came with an open mind and left disgusted with John.

I was at the meeting yesterday and it was not good at all. John spent most of his time talking about state lodge dealings, which no one really cares about. Then Prieb, looking like his usual disheveled self, asked meaningless questions. Then Donahue made an ass out of himself at the mic—what is he, 80? The parliamentarian had to straighten out a former 3 term president. We really need to clean house and get rid of everyone. John has to go and most of the board too.

Prieb can’t run since he decided to buy cat food instead of paying his retiree dues. Yet he was making an ass out of himself again. Pat Murray looked like he get a hall pass from his nursing home and was yelling out from the back like he does when he gets the wrong hello at his nursing home. EJ challenged Jcat but backed away. Then some new guy BD came to the microphone with pointed questions but he looked like he was about to wet himself. He started walking away the second he asked his question, a lot like a chihuahua. He’s a millennial so he ran to the bathroom for a good cry and to change his wet undies. Jcat made an ass out of himself. The rest of the field reps looked embarrassed, confused and even annoyed at times. Mette had to justify why he stabbed John in the back a year ago but didn’t mention why he was a yes man for his whole time as vp and never said a word to challenge Jca before last year.The FOP is truly a clown show and there’s no way out of this mess. Everyone should be voted out and there’s no one left to run besides the imbecile dinosaurs.

Wait, Did we complain when the FOP got the people it represents a 20% raise. No, that is exactly the job of the FOP as the representative of its members. Everyone rushing to judgement? If you have any truck or vehicle or tent and give away or sell food or drinks you will need very specific license. That's for city and state. The people working there also have to be trained and have the correct food service license. That goes for insurance too. City and state want their money. It doesn't matter how long you been doing it or if its free. You can always form a seperate LLC or charity and desolve it if there is a issue. Just like all the other businesses do.

I agree that starting a new charity is a bad idea, there are enough charities and all seem to be doing a good job. The meeting was an embarrassment, it was children fighting. People seem to have a problem with the food truck, I don't. They take it to police functions, public events, and tragedy memorials like last weeks 911 events in New York, nobody gets paid for volunteering at these events.

I find this kind of ironic… and a little funny. There were several CPD members who were younger than 55 and even younger than 45 or 50 who left the job last year to go work for ice… some of these guys left with just under 20 years on too.. some with over 20 but not at the age 50 or not enough to get the medical at 55.. well, quietly, the government has started firing many of them because they are no longer needed… the grass is NOT always greener on the other side. And all the bragging some of them did how “we” were the suckers… I’ll be enjoying my 3.5 percent raise in January and my 25yr step raise in March for working days on a beat car where I sit in my car, read the paper and drink a nice cup of coffee in the morning… home by 145 everyday and 55 comes up in a few years.. life is good.
The food truck and obnoxious duely pick up truck were parked outside his house the other day. Must have just gotten home from New York on our dime. This is all about John using the lodge to pay for his travel, vacation meals and hobbies while he is retired.. the lodge is his side job and a necessary evil so he can continue to live his lifestyle. That’s why he wants to open a charity. It’s nothing more than an exit strategy. The lodge gives him the trailer and 50k. He funds the charity with donations and fundraisers and travels anywhere he wants to any city he wants on the charity dime. He brings the trailer with on a road trip and feeds a couple cops while he is in their town and it’s justified.. stay in Arizona for 4 weeks during the winter and visit 1 police department for a day each week and boom… it’s justified.. meanwhile he bills his charity to pay for his lodging, meals and gas for the whole 4 weeks paying for his lifestyle. It’s all a scam.

Campbell hired an auditor to review the bills Catanzara has has the past six years and he did admit he used the Fop credit card on vacation for personal reasons .
The only person named in the fop subpoena is Catanzara. Catanzara refused to allow a motion to stop paying an attorney who is still charging us without any knowledge of how big this bill is . Pat Duckhorn arose from his stupor long enough to agree with his running mate Catanzara.
The lowlight of the day was when Catanzara told Beth Svec “ you should be thanking me for getting your ex- husbands full duty death benefits for Covid !” You see when you cross John Catanzara in his mind he doesn’t care who he insults or in front of how many people !

The only logical way to bring attention to this problem is through a large, peaceful demonstration in front of the FOP. Everyone needs to contact all the news media and shine a bright light on what is happening. If there are allegations involving J. Redd and others, they deserve to be properly and independently investigated.
Nothing is going to change if everyone remains silent. It will take hundreds of officers standing together peacefully to make their voices heard and demand accountability and transparency regarding how members’ dues are being handled.
Us paying members paid for the food truck and we continue to pay for the food that is cooked in it. Also, Jcat and other board members are supposed to be working for us, not going sight seeing in NYC, a city with no FOP affiliation. If Jcat wants to go to support the police over there then he can go on his time and his dime.

What laws did he violate since you seem to know? FOP is private organization and expenditures are voted for or against by the board of directors. If you don’t like how the money is being spent or what it’s being spent on then vote him and his administration out. DM announced that theFOP has plenty of money on hand. That doesn’t prove theft but the opposite. Now what they are spending tons of our money on is for lawyers to defend their board approved expenditures. Our money is being used to help prove that they didn’t misuse other money that they were elected to spend. That itself seems wasteful. Is he guilty? Who knows. But these investigations take time and the feds are not under any kind of timetable. I’m reserving my final judgement till the facts come out. Food truck was never to be a business or revenue generating expenditure. It was always solely to be for feeding officers whose day off was canceled and/or extended 12 hr tours. Even if going to help others in emergencies, it was always a charitable mission.

I plan on leaving at 50. I’m going to get a job making 22 bucks an hour sitting on my ass as a security guard. Peanuts compared to what we make now but when you combine that with my 26 year pension I’ll basically be making Lieutenants pay. Guys that put down people that are in Tier 1 that leave at 50 are usually losers that can’t leave this job because they made poor life choices.

My name is Joaquin Mendoza, I'm currently on Duty Disability from getting long term COVID in November of 2020. We were going through that chaos with cancelled rdo's and extended hours. I was the first watch Sgt in Area 5 when COVID nearly killed me and ended my career, a life's dream to be a CPD detective. I was lucky, I survived, some of our brothers and sisters didn't. I was honored to have worked with some great real police during my career. Jim Svec was of them. I worked with him during my time in 009 before making detective. He was old school and you'd always be secure with him assisting. He made shifts bearable with his always politically correct sarcasm, which some of us had. I've never worked with Catanzara, but I'm glad I never did. Can't say I'm surprised to hear he took credit for obtaining Jim's line of duty benefits for his ex wife, Beth Svec and their children at the last meeting. I was honored to work with her, a great detective out of Area 1, when I made detective. What I am shocked and disgusted by was no one getting up on stage to give him the beat down, off the stage for taking credit for Jim's family's benefits, Jim earned them by literally giving his life for this city. He was proud to be CPD, never shamed himself or any of us here. Jim was a copper that without any hesitation would give his life for any of us. He'd do it in the appropriate politically correct way ( misunderstood by most defendants). You always knew we were winning when Jim was assisting. It takes a person that has no honor, no code or pride being an officer to have the documented disciplinary record JC has. It's apparent he isn't ashamed about the legacy he leaves career wise as our president, but it's apparent he has no shame and the impression he leaves with the real police and common citizens. It takes a unique bust out, can't get right, to be the target for the numerous allegations of all types and subpoenas issued that bring disrepute to us as an organization, but the speech he gave to our members about Beth and their children shows, proves what a disgrace he is to himself, all police and to the badge. I pray for all of you every day, only another police officer realizes the sacrifices we willingly make for this job, that really, besides our families, we brothers and sisters are the only ones that we can count on. It's sad that time and time again JC has proven he's only capable of embarrassing all of us. Suggestion, commenters should identify themselves instead of posting anonymously, positive or negative, your opinions matter and knowing who gives them makes a difference with credibility. Hey Sgt, sorry to hear about everything that you’ve gone through. However, Svec and the other officers who died from Covid, their survivors were all being initially denied of their line of duty death benefit. John and his administration fought like hell to ensure that the city recognized their deaths were deemed in the line of duty. I attend meetings and it’s not customary to walk up and issue beat downs. John needs to go as I think that the power has corrupted him but if not for his fight on the Covid fight, Svec and the others’ family members would have been hung out to dry by the city. EJ and Bartlett/Quaid/Preib/Murray and whoever are gunning for the top spots and love lying about John. Funny thing is that they don’t have to spread lies as John seems to voluntarily dig his own grave. John needs to gtfo. But it’s also true that he fought and got the job done for the Covid cases.
The food is paid for by the advertisers on the side of the truck and if, as people on this site are saying, he paid for it with Covid funds who cares if he goes to NY.

It’s so funny how everyone seems to comment that I suffer from PTSD! I have NEVER been diagnosed with PTSD! That’s so far from the truth. Whenever I speak out about something I’m an asshole because I sued the city and I can’t be trusted. I knew many cops at that meeting and very few acknowledged me. There is nothing I can do about that. The lying comments on the blog whenever my name comes up is ridiculous. It’s a prime example of why I can no longer work amongst other officers! You try and belittle me! I would do it all over again!!! You’re all weak individuals who would never had the strength or balls to do the right thing
