Dumb and Dumberer
Pending jury outcomes of course. This one looks headed to trial soon:
- An angry Cook County judge berated a Chicago Police officer who was in court Tuesday after being charged with firing five shots at an off-duty suburban cop who tried to pull him over for driving drunk.
Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. told cop John J. Gorman’s attorney: “The problem I have with this is that we have a climate in this city where citizens are shooting at each other. We have to expect and demand more from those who wear a badge.”
The off-duty cop wasn’t hit, and Gorman, 53, was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm. He could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
We covered this last year when it turned out the suburban cop was trying to pull over the off-duty..while off-duty himself. Not a good tactical decision, but not anything that would justify blazing away at anyone, cop or not.

It will go viral if released, and the world will see something ugly and frightening on the Southwest Side.
It comes from a police dashboard camera. City Hall worries that political hell may be on the way. Activists are primed. The politics of race and police use of force are at hand.
And a court hearing is scheduled for next week on whether it should be released to the public.
Sorry, but if this video is as bad as suspected and hinted at, then it shouldn't be anywhere near the public realm until after the trial.

- there's still a jury to be seated - this will preclude anything resembling a fair trial
The political aspect shouldn't even come into play, and neither should the public's "right-to-know" argument. The public will know, after the process is completed.

Who in the states attorney's office has gormans back? He only got charged with aggravated discharge? He pointed his weapon and fired at the suburban officers truck and hit the truck. Was Gorman only trying to damage the suburban officers truck? Don't get me wrong, I am not a fan of the states attorney's office, but JG is an obvious idiot and should not be the police.

I've seen the so-called "McDonald video" and it's bad. It's going to be a problem for us. Frankly, I don't understand why VanDyke hasn't been indicted. He fucked up. Stripping him was the least we could do, I guess, but the G is screwing around with this and will only make it worse.
Considering Garry's early NYPD years, he would understand.

If the PO did something really terrible in the video then the city and this department needs to rethink their selection process. The dumbing down of every aspect of the process leads to poor quality officers. I am not passing judgment on the PO involved because I wasn't where he was. I am speaking to the constant lowering of standards to fulfill a racial political agenda. When you do that you get lower quality officers of all races. You want better police? Then make the standards much higher.
Nothing like informing the masses ahead of time so they can get together to riot and loot. I will be retired by then I think I will join the looting can get some good Christmas deals for the family.

Serious question: ever notice when people post things like you just did anywhere on the Internet, the black cops are almost always immediately fired/arrested compared to the cops that cause a certain group of people to riot?
If the video is so bad why has he not been charged? And why did it take 6+ months to charge this goof Gorman?
Cop shooting at cop... I don't see any activists getting involved. They have nothing to gain.
Um... Chicago is already torn apart Kass. The entire world thinks this is the most dangerous place & the most corrupt politically speaking.
Let's just air this video and get it over with. I know people have seen it and they say it's quite ugly. I'm sure they're withholding the video based on overall officer sentiment about laying down for lack of support. I for one will also assume the fetal position and let the savages burn the city to the ground. I'll worry about it if and when they make their way to my neck of the woods and then it will be game on. CPD is about to make every other officer involved death in police custody/in the performance of their duties deaths look like angels.

What's this 'WE'? you weren't there. I wasn't there. If the City hired some idiot, they paid. If they guy made a mistake, he'll pay for it. HE is HE and solely responsible for what he did. WE are not HIM.

But when that individual is NOT approaching and numerous other officers are nonchalantly standing around, some closer to said individual and none of them fire, but all 16 shots can be attributed to one officer... yeah its excessive!
The video is BAD! Even the city knew it which is why they immediately offered millions to make it go away before the family even filed a lawsuit.

At 12pm... Both cops were charged with 2nd degree and attempt BEFORE the story got out. And the police have already distanced themselves from these guys and left them to fend for themselves. Its not exactly the same.

Where was there a camera that captured this supposed video? Does Gorman have a dashcam in his whip to capture his famous off duty antics? BTW, what goes up must come down, so surely you can't be suggesting he should get a pass on this one at all.

Don't agree it be cold out and blackliesmatter thug don't be liking the cold! But don't wait till it gets warm then we gots trouble! But if rioting occurred we don't have men like Jimmy Maurer during bulls riots who gave us gas teams and did not shudder backed us up, was on scene with other old school bosses with us. Today bosses would be cowering in offices, to the young copper make sure you weapons are maintained, you're gas mask fits,you have first aid supplies, patrol ca is fueled, you have extra water and snack bars, your helmet is fitted properly! God bless the CPD and elected you better tell your judge how it is and make sure video is destroyed, they took the 5 million done deal, or if video released will they be forced to give back the taxpayers 5 million?

Funny, it's Gorman that's the screwball, hope he had fun in statesville
Carol Marin earlier this summer covered this story with the hype that we will be in "Ferguson style" riots when the video is released. If people remain calm will Carol and the clowns from ch. 5 do the same?
So now police departments are supposed to be scared about video being released!
Let the riots begin I can handle it But I hope the rioters understand I just took a 3 hour class on shootings.

It's really up to the knife holder. You can (and should) fire until the threat is over
I told you in a previous thread yesterday. Don't trust Kass. He likes to play both ends against the middle. I haven't seen the tape in question, but a close friend of mine who has told me that it is very bad and will cause big problems for all of us if it is released. As for the Gorman incident, I know all parties involved and sometimes if you can't say anything good about anybody it is best to say nothing at all.

How many times have the police released or leaked videos that put civilians in a bad light, well before the "process" is completed?
I have the same problem with the whole blue "code of silence" when they themselves bitch about people not coming forward and ratting somebody out, for whatever reason. If somebody had taken that letter sent to the Fox Lake mayor by several officers in the police department, the whole Joe Gliniewicz saga would never have mushroomed out of control to the point that it did.

It's called tainting the jury pool.
If this guy is as screwed as everyone is claiming, and is in fact found guilty, his lawyer has a really good shot at claiming his client couldn't get an unbiased jury because of the inflammatory nature of the video. Judge vacates the sentence and no retrial and oops, don't all you lib-tarded street corner lawyers look like complete assholes.
