Hero to the Very End
One arrest so far, and the rest of the incident details are being released:
- A 16-year-old boy
has been charged in connection with the murder of a retired Chicago
police officer, CPD Supt. Larry Snelling said during a press conference
on Monday night.The teen boy is facing first-degree murder charges, Snelling said, and investigators are still searching for a second suspect.
"In a brazen and senseless act of violence, Larry's life was taken from him by the very people he committed his life to helping," Snelling said.
[...] CPD Chief of Detectives Antoinette Ursitti said retired Chicago Police Officer Larry Neuman, 73, was outside his West Garfield Park home on Thursday afternoon, paying a worker who was cutting his grass, when he saw two people with guns approach.
Neuman, seeing that the two offenders were armed, heroically pushed the worker out of the way, Ursitti said. Neuman then took his own firearm out of his waistband, and that's when the two suspects fired, striking him. Neuman was able to fire at the suspects, who then fled on foot, Ursitti said.

It sounds like they have a lead on the second offender. Hopefully apprehended soon.

My God, this man lived a life that none of us could live up to. A perfect line SCC!! In the last seconds of his life he served & protected. It sickens me that these two little M Fing little scum bags (if Crimesha actually prosecutes while still dripping W/ root beer) put these two animals in prison where they will live like kings because they killed a cop!! What has happened to this country. In the last week how many teens killed older people & small children? I am hoping that these little bastards are passed around the cell block for a few years wearing a beautiful shade of lipstick & some sexy undies! The 16 year old will be released by the state of Illinois as a fully grown monster to kill again. Fuck Illinois.

You are correct once your the real police you are always the real police! The city and the pathetic gold star idiots dont care, but they love getting that free press! Will brandon honor this hero? What about bringing retired coppers back for inside spots in order to put "secretaries with guns," back on the streets? What happened? Did they get the hollywood couch treatment?

Our friends in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia don't have this problem.nice and early on the next Saturday morning streets and san would dig a 5 foot hole at Michigan and Madison and the whole city would come out to watch them get stoned. Brick vendors, popcorn and water bottle vendors,jugglers,street artists,everyone would join the fun. Great arrest and investigation but why was the braided DIO of 011 photographed walking the kid in the station in handcuffs if he had nothing to do with the arrest/investigation? Also, why were they walking him in through the parking garage, I spent more than a few years in 011 to know that’s not where prisoners enter.

I am a TSA co-worker and friend of Larry. I first met him a few years ago when he transferred to MDW. Despite only knowing him for a few years the mentorship and knowledge he shared with felt like a lifetime. I want to thank SCC and all of you for all of the kind words that you have shared regarding Officer Neuman. His loss has really hurt all of us. His actions on the day of his senseless and tragic murder does not surprise me. He would often walk our TSA staff members to their cars even when we would say he didn’t have to. He was a true protector.
I wanted to share with you all that Larry’s last day at work was on Wednesday, June 19th. On that night MDW had an Honor Flight arrive during the latter part of Larry’s shift. He was present for the flight and took great delight in greeting the veterans/his brothers who were arriving from a day in DC. The majority of the flight was composed of Vietnam veterans.
I am so thankful to have known Larry. God bless his family and all first responders.

Ask Commander Ward. She went from crying on scene over the victim to protecting the offender and their family. That DIO is a tool. Command changes need to happen in that building Ward, the Ducks, Starks. All need to go.
