Everyone but Us!

The mayor appointed a former federal prosecutor to be the new Inspector General. David Hoffman met with members of the city council and (can you believe this?) Fran Spielman of all people gives us this gem:
  • One trail that Hoffman will not be free to follow is the one that leads to the City Council.

Earlier this week, Corporation Counsel Mara Georges said she's drafting an ordinance that would allow Hoffman to investigate aldermen, if that's where the evidence leads during the course of another, unrelated investigation.

But Budget Committee Chairman William Beavers (7th) said Thursday, "The answer is, 'no.' . . . It's dead on arrival. . . . We already have enough people investigating us."

So the inspector general of the entire city of chicago isn't able to investigate a group of people whose conviction rate approaches 50% when viewed over the past 25 years? Wow. We mean, we knew the city council was out of touch, arrogant, and pretty much a parade of failed lawyers with important phone calls, but sheesh. To actually say it on the record? This is just waaaaaay out there.

We guess we'll just have to keep relying on the federal government to investigate the city council. Come to think of it, this is probably a good thing. And the "Hired Truck" scandal is just now beginning to nip at the aldercreatures heels.

"Giving the inspector general the power to investigate aldermen -- as Daley tried and failed to do in 1989 -- could open the door to political witch hunts, Stone said."

Can someone please tell me what "political witch hunts" would entail? Um, making sure that aldercreatures do not take advantage of their position in local government resulting in either profit to themselves or some "special" constituants? If that is a political witch hunt, I have the stakes and a zippo ready to go.

No need for a witch hunt. All 50 Alderman ride brooms. And the Mayor is King of the Magic Carpet ride.

Alderman should change their names to Gypsiesman and the Mayor should change his name to King Gypsy.

I heard a story once that went this way.....

A freind is talking to another friend. He tells his friend, I just met a wonderful woman. She is everything a man could dream of. As you know I have one brother in jail awaiting the death sentence for 3 murders, my two sisters are herione addicted street hoes and my other brother is a Chicago Alderman.

He goes on to ask his friend...

I don't want to lose her as a girlfriend so should I even tell her about my brother the Alderman?

    Lobbyist: Professional Briber

If Political Lobbying for a cause is so upstanding shouldn't citizens be able to lobby the police for favors and wanted outcomes?

Let all the 50 ALDERPERSONS RESIGN, then we could have a new election of people not connected with the Mayor and start over.

All the new people would have to be working class, average JOES, with no prior political experience.

All heads of Major Departments would have to prove that they know how to do the work that their staff does. And not be just an administrator.

Oh why bother going on, it will never happen.

And we're damn lucky that it won't. If you think this City sucks now, try running it with a bunch of inexperienced, inept aldercreatures and administrators. It'd be like making a PPO the Superintendent. He don't nothing, don't know nobody, and he can prove it. Be careful what you wish for. At least this current bunch of scandrols can find City Hall.
