Sheriff's deputies who get caught cheating on their spouses or sleeping with another person's spouse in Pinellas County, Fla., will be suspended from work for the behavior, according to a Local 6 News report.

An off-duty police officer shot by a patrolman in a case of mistaken identity has died, city officials said.
Officer Eric Hernandez died Wednesday at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, where he had been in critical condition since the incident on Jan. 28.
The on-duty patrolman shot Hernandez, 24, in each leg and the stomach. Police said the shooting stemmed from a dispute between Hernandez — who had been drinking and was in street clothes — and several other men at a fast-food restaurant.
After being surrounded and severely beaten, the dazed officer pulled a gun on a man in the restaurant’s parking lot before being shot by the patrolman, police said.

This week at the Capitol saw the battle for your rights heat up once again.
HB-2414, the semi-auto gun ban continues to take center stage. Last week amendment #6 was withdrawn by the sponsor. After weeks of talk in the press about Mayor Daley wanting to bring the Olympics to Chicago, they finally realized that their bill, if signed into law, would prohibit Olympic pistol competitors from holding their events in Illinois. So the Chicago Olympics would have to hold at least some of the shooting events in Indiana or Wisconsin.
It appears that amendment # 7 will be an attempt to “fix” this little problem with the bill. While some may say it is insignificant, it points to the fact that: 1) we are winning and 2) they continue to have problems, as they have from day one.
You will note that we are not putting out a great deal of specifics to the bill. Over the past year, the City has been grasping at straws to try and pass something. They, for once, have been listening to the criticism against their bill and changing it to take away those arguments. The Olympic amendment is the latest example of that. We are not in the business of educating them about their bills. If anything, the latest problem underscores that we have been right all along. Why else would they be changing language to “protect” Olympic shooters? Or changing the language on .50 cals to assure deer hunters that their guns will not be banned? The reason is simple, we are right. And we have been right all along.
I would suggest to everyone, that while it may feel good to post all kinds of technical info and point out every little flaw in the bill on blogs or web pages, the message now is simple – NO to a gun ban. No to Chicago style gun control. . . .

OK Tackleberry, this law does not apply to the police. LEO's are allowed to own whatever weapon they want short of a nuclear weapon. If you didn't fail the psych part of the Police test, you too could own the weapon of your choosing.

What compounds the tragedy of the death of NYPD PO Eric Hernandez is the fact that PO Alfredo Toro, 46th Pct., rolled up on the scene and reacted in the finest traditions of police officers everywhere. Officer Toro had no way of knowing that the squating stranger pointing a gun to the head of the thug in the parking lot was a fellow police officer.
May God bless both Officers Toro and Hernandez, their families and our NYPD brethren.

A tragedy to be sure. Also an important lesson to all (especially new) officers. We to not have neon signs above our heads that say police. If you are taking action with that weapon keep your eyes open and I.D. yourself ASAP to any responding officers and citizens alike. God Bless and stay safe.
