Blago's Growing Problems

Governor Rod Blagojevich's administration continues to receive Federal subpoenas on what seems to be a monthly basis regarding ... what else? ... hiring practices. Only this time they've managed to keep them under wraps until a Sun Times investigation located an anonymous source to provide copies of the memos detailing the contents.

Last time a round of subpoenas came out, Blago took a large hit in the polls. It'll be interesting to see if Judy Barr Topinka can make any hay out of these latest ones.

TIN FOIL HAT CONSPIRACY TIME!

What if the Chicago Machine and the Illinois Combine are sensing they've gone a bit too far and pissed off more than a few voters and now they've decided to throw a few big names under the bus? The mayor has thrown dozens of little people under the bus to protect his inner circle and himself. What if the Machine as a whole (which is decidedly unhappy with Blago) has decided he's next to go? The Machine is gambling that even if Judy Barr Topinka wins, she can't govern effectively when the Machine still controls both houses, so she has to compromise - and compromise means the Machine still gets fat juicy contracts for its cronies and its people still get hired. The Machine goes on.

END TIN FOIL HAT EPISODE!

Blago's problem is he feels he has to cater to every whin of the illegal alien and black man. He is afraid to let the blacks and hispanics think something is wrong with the way they live in the City. He lets them act like animals and in return the City deteriorates. How many times have you observed the filth left from a mexican or black block party? White block parties immediately call for Streets and Sanitation, because white middle aged females cannot stand debris all over the neighborhood. Whereas in the barrio or ghetto they just let the trash blow into one another's yard. No big deal. Shenaynay is used to letting her children crawl through broken glass. Cockroaches? Hell, she welcomes them in as though they are disant relatives. Blago needs to make people accountable for their actions. CPD needs to police the criminals and set forth the proper way to live. That is Blago's worst nightmare-a united Chicago police dept. that actually leads by example. from what I read on this blog-he doesn't have to worry about SQUAT right now!

Putting Farell and Andrews in the same category is like putting John Wayne is a broke back mountain movie. Andrews and the rest of his cronies love to toss Farell’s name around because he was a true boss and even more a true cop. Farell never had a bad thing to say about another copper, Dean never has a bad thing to say about Dean. Farell, is for the men, Dean is for himself. Farell has earned everything that has come to him and deserves more. Dean has been given everything and deserves none of it.

Dean’s homicide numbers rose in the past years because he ex-cleared cases that the previous commanders had too much integrity to do. Area five is on the bottom and you only have to look at the top to see why. When you look at the names of who have left Area five under Dean’s time, it reflects some of the best Detectives and Sergeants in the department. Farell moves to A/1 and his people follow, Dean is at A/5 and people are fleeing.

Please don’t compare these two bosses anymore; it’s an insult to Farell!

Cline, Maher, someone, wake up and do the right thing!

Hey dickhead, Farrell has clout and could have made any move he wanted to make, but he was a WORKING SGT and a WORKING LT and would be the first person out of the door when it was time to do ANY police work. Higher than average crowd for 2211's beat meeting, but not as many showed up as should have. The typical attitude of bitch, bitch, bitch about something, but don't get involved when they should have been there.........Cmdr saying in response to question, "Would I like more people....Yes.....Do we have enough...Yes." I nearly choked. James Malloy and Mike Shields showed up, with Malloy telling the company line. Garrity also telling the crowd that 2211 never gets pulled out of the 10 sector.....excuse me, choked again. John Somerville, Virginia Rugai's perennial and upcoming opponent in the alderman's race, tried to start his campaign piggybacking on the issue. The guy is personable one on one, but needs to learn to pick his spots better if he wants to have a chance. He came off sounding arrogant and turned off people when attempting to engage Rugai in a debate. He can't afford to lose a single vote. 19th ward was close last time, could be even closer in March.

Peterson actually likes me, he is still an asshole. I am not an 18 year old marine. It wouldn't kill him to learn how to speak to people like they are adults. You must be one of his shoe licking sgt's he brought in. Let me quote something back to you that either you or one of your crew asked me at a police shooting, "What exactly is it we're supposed to do at these things"? You and your guys are the principle reason I can't stand the guy. I could take a bunch of high school girls who watch CSI and they'd know more about being a sgt in the D than you lackeys. Sgt's run the D unit and you fuckers couldn't run out of a burning house. Everyone in A/4 VC knows who I'm talking about. A terrible thing when someone expects me to do my job? 8:05, Somerville will still not be able to change the orders which allow 2211 to be pulled.

On the one hand, under CAPS, everybody is supposed to be down before a beat car is sent off their beat. Exceptions are by the individual order of a supervisor (which (s)he must give for every single incident, one at a time), or at the discretion of the dispatcher for absolute emergencies like 10-1s or shootings.

Of course, any supervisor can suspend CAPS dispatching, in which case a notification would be sent to operations command. Sounds like Garrity may need to have a w/c suspend CAPS on 2nd and 3rd watches across the board every single day, if he wants his statement to become true.

Don't get me wrong, all I'm saying is that we need change across the city. To suspend CAPS such that a beat car is not sent off their beat. Personally, I'm in favor, except for 10-1s or agg batts.

How about two other dets who worked Homicide- dean didnt like them so he fucked with them non stop- One went to HIDTA , the other to cold case. DEANS a bitch- buying guys drinks at the bar- don't make you one of the guys. Taking your Sgts out to Central Gyros every week -doesn't make you a good boss. DEAN is a QUEEN, DEANS A BITCH. & if confronted by another officer -regardless of rank- he'll back down-because he's not man enough to tell someone -to they're face- what he says behind they're back. Andrews pretends to be a detective almost as much as he pretends that he is straight. "The ultimate leader is one who is willing to develop people to the point that they eventually surpass him or her in knowledge and ability."

It use to be that the Detective Division relied on its experience from seasoned Detectives, Sergeants, Lieutenants and Commanders to train the up and coming. When you have a Commander that does not have that experience and consistently overrides the decision of his managers the system beaks down. The Detectives have stopped trying to do more because they are tired of being slapped down by Dean. The Lieutenants and Sergeants have been rendered ineffective because the men they manage know that their decision doesn’t matter and that the decision will always be up to Dean and no one else. The supervisors lack the intestinal fortitude to stand up to Dean for what they believe in fear of losing their precious spot or being dumped to midnights. Dean dumps supervisors and detectives with no expectation and no regard for their work, experience, or the personal hardship it may cause; for some personnel this was too much to bear. Dean makes his management decisions based on personal reasons and how it affects only Dean, regardless what it best for the Division or the police officers they serve.

Andrews is not a leader, he expects people to listen and follow because he wears a gold star and not because he has earned their respect for the position he holds. The difference between a good Commander and Dean is; Dean says, Go! – a true boss says, Let’s go!
Andrews cannot expect to hold the loyalty of his detectives when he speaks to them as if they are insignificant. Andrews its time to look and the mirror and see the person you have become and not the god you think you are!

"Clout may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there."

I don't know about Andrews ... but any commander of a D unit that goe with you on a job is out of his mind. Be a commander and let det be the det. Sgt be a Sgt and not try to be a detective. Hndle what u gotta handle the dets know wht their doing. The problem is the exact opposite I think. Be a good commander or whatever because you already got good detectives. But I aint gonna transfer out because of problems with a commander, it just doesn't effect me that much. When the Sgt try to be detective is the problem. Just my opinion. And when Det tries to be a tac guy thats silly too. put on a fuckin tie once in awhile you're a damn detective , be proud of it regardless of all the nonsense that goes on.

Amen, brother! Having been a detective is not, and should not be, a requisite for being a sgt. or a lt. in the D. Their job is administration and leadership. They should not try to be detectives.

TO "CLEARED EXCEPTIONAL"

That was a heroic stop on the part of the Wisconsin PO, but I was in favor of putting that Pollock that shot himself in for some kind of crimefighting award. U should have seen the taskforce they had at A-3 for that. I saw guys that crawled out from super secret units that I hadn't seen in 10 years. Nobody was even close to implicating this guy; thank God he panicked when the Wisconsin Cop stopped him!!!!
