Please Tell No One is This Stupid?

  • In the wee hours of the morning, public streets are blocked off, crowds gather, and bets are placed. Two cars line up, side by side, engines roaring.

From start to finish, they will race just a quarter mile but at speeds close to 150 mph. One winner. One loser.

  • "My friends are all professionals," Djuric said two weeks ago, describing in an interview who the racers are. "I mean, there's a guy who is a vice president of a bank. There's a couple of police officers."

When asked if Chicago Police officers were involved, he declined to say, but added he has seen off-duty State Police officers at races, as well.

Just what we need - coppers involved in illegal drag racing. Please say it isn't so. Knowing how coppers can screw up though, it might be.

Kinzie between Pulaski and Kostner is a big spot as well as Chicago and Kilpatrick by the factories; we would open the hydrants every weekend on them to end the problem, do they still do that?

Identify and isolate streets, usually in industrial areas, where racing occurs, often on first watch and weekends.

Temporary solution: Open hydrants.

Permanent solution: Streets and San installs steep asphalt speed bumps with appropriate signs at intervals of an eighth of a mile or less.

We suggested that to one of our white shirts about opening the hydrants and flooding the streets. He told us it's against G.O. And if Joe citizen were to crash as a result then the city would be liable.

Worked citywide, and nobody had more calls for racing in industrial areas than the 004th district on mids.

I'm aware of this stuff being "common" in 011, 016 and (sometimes) in 008/009, but nothing ever seemed to compare to the problem they have in 004.

And atta-boy to the guy who suggested speedbumps. Seems like a good idea.

If "Joe Citizen" winds up in a wheelchair because you opened up a hydrant, are you going to step up and say that you did that.

Is a boss going to say I told you to do that; and here is the deed to my house and my pension.

I found that if I just show up in my beat car and start running plates, they quietly disappear just like exaust smoke. Making a stop and making out a TSS card because you are checking out a disturbance works better than any speed bump.

I remember in 004, they ran it like a round up. Trapped all the vehicles on that stretch, and started handing out parkers for double parking. Was priceless to see the expressions on their faces.

If you are going to open a hydrant to stop drag racers:

DO NOT discuss it on the radio.

DO NOT put anyting on the PDT.

DO NOT do it anywhere around a POD Camera or if someone is out there with a video camera.

From what I recall Doty Rd in 004 has no fire hydrants near the strip where they race. The roundup a few weeks ago netted almost 200 tickets total. The cars on the mission worked 2 hours overtime.

We're so short handed on 3rd watch that we can't afford to consistently keep the pressure on them.

CHICAGO, IL - Today at a press conference in Springfield, the president of the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police admitted that fear of legislative retribution factored into the union’s decision to endorse the entire slate of Democrat candidates who have minimal law enforcement and crime fighting experience.

“It’s truly a sad day for law enforcement in our state when the leaders of the state’s Fraternal Order of Police are intimidated by Chicago machine politics,” said Illinois Republican Party Chairman Gary MacDougal.

Police: Boy attacked for cell phone

By Jeremy Gorner
Tribune staff reporter
Published July 17, 2006, 12:15 PM CDT

A 14-year-old boy was in critical condition today after three people attacked him at a park in Chicago's West Beverly neighborhood because they wanted his cell phone, police said.

Two of the three assailants — both teenagers — have been apprehended, Calumet Area Sgt. Michael Burke said.

The victim was in a drug-induced coma at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn after he was hit over the head with some sort of blunt object around 2:15 p.m. Sunday in Beverly Park, located near 102nd Street and Artesian Avenue on the city's Far Southwest Side.

One of the assailants, a 16-year-old boy, has been charged as a juvenile with armed robbery, Burke said.

That boy, whom the sergeant declined to identify because of his age, was arrested after an off-duty Chicago police officer witnessed the attack in the park.

"The officer called 911 on his cell phone, followed the (16-year-old) and responding units arrived to the scene," Burke said.

The other boy in custody, who is 17 years old, was being interviewed by investigators and has not been charged. Burke could not provide a description of the third assailant, who remains at large.

Hello, I have worked in 011 for 5 years and before that I was in 15 for 4 years. The City does not care about the police officer. 90% of the bosses do not care about the police officer. We have to care about each other. I read the blog every day and there are a lot of angry cops. I can't help but think that since they can't yell at their bosses they yell at each other on this blog. It doesn't matter where you work the point is you WORK!! We should have a complaint blog where we put down a bosses name (Sgt. Zelinsky) and then seriously list the things he does that are wrong/dangerous with hopes that an exempt can read this and move him for officer safety. We aren't gonna get a huge raise and nobody is gonna hand us the awards we are due but we can fix the safety issues first. So we need to start the complaint blog and start listing the dangerous bosses who can get us hurt if they aren't stopped now.

Courthouse spruces up for R. Kelly

Monday, July 17, 2006

By Stefano Esposito
Special to the Daily Southtown

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One day last week, a group of pigeons clustered on a ledge at the courthouse at 26th and California in Chicago — doing what pigeons often do when they encounter an unsoiled surface.
They appeared oblivious to the newly gleaming brass doors just a few feet below and the labors of a work crew making sure those heavy doors open and close properly when one of Chicago's biggest celebrity defendants walks through each morning sometime soon.

The recent flurry of activity in the courtroom that will be used for the child pornography trial of R&B star R. Kelly and at a previously closed-off entrance has prompted much eye-rolling among courthouse regulars — some of whom suspect it's all designed to make sure the building looks respectable for a national, and perhaps an international, audience.

Officially, the work is partly about making sure there's adequate security for a trial that's likely to draw large crowds of curious onlookers and media in an already very busy courthouse. The rest of the work — installing new wiring and carpeting in the Kelly courtroom — is part of a long-planned update for the entire building, officials insist.

"We've been stressing the need to have all of our facilities clean and comfortable for the members of the general public," said Cook County Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans. "We've specifically been working with 26th and California because that facility was not being maintained as well."

But not even Oprah Winfrey — who sat on a jury in a murder trial here two years ago — got her own entrance.

Kelly, of Olympia Fields, his handlers and his attorneys will walk in through an entrance just north of the public entryway, said Sally Daly, spokeswoman for the Cook County sheriff's office.

"We anticipate there will be an extensive amount of media — much more so than for the Oprah trial," Daly said. "For safety and security reasons, and to ensure normal courtroom operations for the remainder of the public, (Kelly) is going to be coming in a separate entrance."

Metal "fencing barricades" will be used to prevent the media and public from blocking Kelly's path to the courthouse entrance, Daly said. And a metal detector will be installed at that entrance. For extra security, another metal detector will be placed at the entrance to the Kelly courtroom on the fifth floor, Daly said.

Daly said she doesn't anticipate a "significant increase in costs" to accommodate the Kelly trial, which is expected to last two to three weeks, but doesn't have a set start date. Kelly is accused of having sex with an underage girl and videotaping it.

Under an amended version of the ordinance, approved by the City Council Finance Committee on Wednesday, the "living wage" will be phased in over three years to lessen the shock to big businesses. The new plan sets wages at $9.25 an hour, plus $1.50 for benefits to start, before they go up to $10 an hour and $3 in benefits by 2010.

"There's a compromise going on, I think they're trying to work something out," Daley told reporters. "I haven't seen the details but I think they've been working on it."

Common word Militant/2006 and in Chicago the shouts are still racial for both sides! Militant= Ways other's find unacceptable.

Chicago Conservator [1878-1914]
Chicago, Illinois
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first black newspaper in Chicago and the second in Illinois, the Chicago Conservator began in 1878, founded by F.L. Barnett who left the paper in 1882 to practice law. The Chicago Conservator provided sober coverage of Southern racism and violence, avoiding the sensationalism of other newspapers. The paper stressed racial unity and promoted militancy as a lifestyle for black advancement. Ida Wells worked for the Chicago Conservator before she purchased the newspaper in 1895. Wells continued the militant tone of the paper. Until 1885 the Chicago Conservator was the only newspaper in Chicago with circulation reaching a high of about 1,000. After 1885, competing newspapers, notably the Appeal, forced the Chicago Conservator to struggle for several years before it folded in 1914.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chicago Defender [1905-present]
Chicago, Illinois
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From humble beginnings, the Chicago Defender grew to become one of the most important black newspapers of the twentieth century. For more than fifty years the Defender served the black population of the entire nation, especially in Chicago and the South. Crusading for black rights, the Defender acquired a national reputation for militancy against ignorance and bigotry. Georgia native Robert Abbott learned printing in Virginia as a young man and later moved to Chicago where he earned a law degree at Kent College. The state bar associations of Illinois, Indiana and Kansas refused to allow him to practice law because of his race.

In response to everyone's questions of what would have happened if it was 3 white kids and 1 black kid that got beat? Your answer is that it has already happened. Remember way back in Bridgeport.......for the life of me I can't remember the kid's name.....he was beaten by a bunch of white kids (3 to be exact) and the media blew it out of proportion. The kid was already half a tard anyways and he was not just trying to play basketball at armour park (there were no nets or rims up at that time) like the media and his family said, everyone in that area will confirm that. Anyways, there was a rash of burglaries in the area, I believe garages correct me if I'm wrong. They saw him and a buddy casing out some houses (no basketball in hand or anywhere to be found) and well the rest was history. Now we have a situation where the roles have been reversed and look whats happens...except you really have an innocent victim....NOTHING. FUCKING LIBERAL MEDIA PRICKS! Poor black kid got beat in Bridgeport, now white kid gets beat up and robbed in good neighborhood and well you know the typical song and dance. Disgusting.....Fuck'em...I'm not moving...I'm gonna fight for my neighborhood, family and neighbors and not let any of fucking criminals take over. We've given up so much already, so when is enough ENOUGH! Hope the kid pulls through, keep him in your prayers. People you wanna keep where you live nice, stick together and stay put and fight these jags everytime they try robbing, stealing, selling, gang-banging in your neighborhood! Beverly, Mt. Greenwood, Garfield ridge, even in the 16th district. We ain'nt got anywhere else to go so lets start pushing back! Viva la Resistance!!! Sorry, too much southpark, Be safe everyone and keep your heads up.

The question is where did the three older teens that beat the 14 yr. old with the heart aliment, come from? These older teens may not have lived so far off from Beverly park, possibly within walking distance.

For yr's kids from further East, past Ashland have hit Beverly and beat even younger kids for their bikes during broad daylight. Rocks to the face of 9 yr. olds with the offender reaching across fences to try and grab the bikes at the same time. There was also a string of robberies for bikes where adults would drop kids off in the area to beat kids down for their bikes on Sundays in mid afternoon several yr's ago. 22 can't be everywhere and this has been an ongoing problem. Who remembers the Priest that was murdered a few yr's back in Mt. Greenwood? Ag High Sch. thank you Rugai for these magnet schools along with Morgan Prk have created problems. These areas will not be reversed. It is the way of Chicago. The city demands the neighborhoods become fully intergrated, and intergration is a one way street. My suggestion as soon as you can, get off this job get out of Illinois. Were just a spruced of version of Gary with a false mask. There are too many other states where people do not have to walk on eggs just to live with so many individuals who choose to be animals wanting what you have and will take it. These idiots have no respect for life regardless of race and take advantage of liberal Chg., Il. continual pity party mode. Bet these thugs have been through the system and the system does not work!

I will find a state that allows bounty hunter's. Illinois is to liberal for the mass lawbreaker's who choose Chg. as a safe haven, this is gotten too insane! Our Pol's are idiot's for profit and power and everything and everyone is for sale.

No where for the city worker to go anymore were screwed and their content out of reality, talk about the Twighlight Zone. I'm sick of the criminal's.

When did the Chicago Police become so pussified?? What is wrong with fast cars?? What? You don't like big boobs either? I suppose guns are bad now too.

No wonder this department is in such a sad state of affairs. All our men are pussies. Ladies, put down the Mai Tai and be a man again.

Definitely off topic but for any coppers living in 22 a 14-year old open heart patient was severly beaten and robbed by three savages a at beverly park. And when I say savages i'm talking about three male blacks who hit him with a pipe and took his cell phone.

FUCK THESE MOTHERFUCKERS AND THEIR PARENTS! These fucking shitheads live nowhere near this "community" to use their words. One of the jagoffs lives at 110th & Vernon.

Happened at 1415 hours. WHERE ARE THE POLICE WHO LIVE..AND WORK IN THIS FUCKING DISTRICT? They have families who venture out into public don't they? Why wasn't this kid safe two blocks from his house? Same shit in 022. Fucking retirement community where nobody does shit.In their own neighborhood! Shame on these gutless fucks. Stop every shithead you see! Fuck their mommas. Don't worry about their C.R. threats. DO YOUR FUCKING JOB!

I encourage all coppers who live in 022 to attend 2211's next beat meeting and ask what's being done to ensure the safety of our families.

I work in an area where the majority of my "servin' and protectin'" is done on behalf of black citizens yet these white jagoff cops that work in 022 don't give a shit about what goes on in the neighborhood they live in.

Somemone call Auditing and Control and flood this district with inspectors. Fuck these coppers that shop, stay down at white hen or otherwise do anything but police work.

Let's call Garrity and ask what's being done about the violence against our neighbors. This aint' fucking Englewood. It's not one neighbor fucking up the other. The crimes are being committed by the savages from far away. Tell his people to put a street stop on somebody and kick their ass out of the area. Don't give me this "I can go wearever I want." NOT IF YOUR TROLLIN' AROUND LOOKING FOR VICTIMS!

Somethings gotta be done. We all have vulnerable family members out and about. We deserve as much protection as that given to "yesterdays offenders."

P.S. Of course Annie Sweeny, the Sun-Times columnist refused to identify any of the offenders as black. Had it been a black victim(s) we all know what the headline and slant of the article would have been.

Don't let this story get pushed to the back pages in the coming days and weeks as other stories make headlines. Something needs to change around here. The boy deserves to be safe in his neighborhood.

Solution to the problem: Off duty cops patrolling 022. Round up good numbers of the enemy. Then take them to the areas that have dragracing and use them for speed bumps! See, a simple solution to solve two problems at once.

By the way, how did the CFD do at the gay games?

News Flash:
Jayy Maryoutme
Chicago Fun Times

The Chicago Fire Department badmitton team took the gold at the gay games. It was a true come from behind story. The shuttle cocks were flying fast and furious between the Fire Department hoses and the Canaryville Convicts.

The CFD was in the rear until the last set when they came in from behind to win. On a sad note Canaryville was sore about losing and challenged the CFD to a fight. The Fire Department lost the fight to Canaryville.
