Interesting Rumor
Sure, most rumors started here on the blog have absolutely no basis in fact and are essentially wishful thinking. Every once in a while though, we get a little gem or a nugget that turns out to be true somewhere down the line. One of the better ones turned out to be the manpower cuts at 35th Street. The 20% number ended up being high, but more than a few people lost their spots on short notice.

- Word out of 35th is that Cline has asked all Commanding Officers of the units at 35th to identify their essential personnel, allegedly, all non-essential people will have their details cancelled and returned to their districts; this is in response to the surge in Homicides in 011, 022,009, but especially 011, what doesn't make sense is how exactly this will help. Unless all these people are from 011 very little manpower, if any, will actually make it there, well see....
Idle speculation? Perhaps. But then we got this e-mail from a frequent reader of ours:
- This just in: they want to move the injured back [from Alternate Response]to the district desks and leave this unit with slightly under 20 calltakers a day. That's about 5 calltakers a shift with RDOs and such. That would result in abandoned calls going from 8% to 60% and hold times going from 2 minutes to 45 minutes. Meaning those calls would have to have cars dispatched to do reports and the desk would receive more calls routed to it from 311. So the district gets about .7 more people in it, remember RDOs and such, and the time for patrolling will go drastically down with more reports being made on the street.
Two unrelated sources with similar information regarding the manpower shortages being experienced city wide and new efforts to alleviate the shortages. Things that make you go hmmmm.

1611 3rd watch is a dog. Will some boss with balls get a copper who at least answers calls on this beat. This broad is useless.
Many, but certainly not all, of the call takers at the Alternate Response Unit are unable to work district duty of any kind. Some are P.O.W.s, stripped of their powers, some are pregnant, some are psych cases, some are on chemo-theraphy or high dose pain medication, and some are phycsically incapasitated.
As they say down there, they are the "crippled, the criminal and the crazy."
How about just staffing districts like 011, 010 and 007 with all the P.O.s required, and heck with all these Mickey Mouse units with two year wonders on them. When we get any of these kids back in the world of being the real police, we have to retrain them. And do we need a 20-something P.O. to handle radios and in house paper jobs. Did anyone tell the taxpayers that we let go $25K Civilian Police Aides and replaced them with young $50K P.O.s who should be out there chaseing gang-bangers.

Its a bull. If he wanted man power why not remove the patrol officers assigned to each detective division ie the special desk, all they do is the AA sheets, they wont even answer the phone. Why do the Detective Area commanders need two police officers as secretaries???
Lets bring back the political police hacks assigned to the Chicago Park District. Why are seven men assigned to the Park District investigating Park Residency requirements and park nonsense when at the same time taking home an unmarked police vehicle? I cant give my 06 guys an unmarked car any more because the tac teams and dicks are short cars yet we have these mopes detailed out with unmarked cars. How about the labor unit and there unmarked cars. My precinct captain in the 19th Ward is assigned to the labor unit and uses his unmarked car to pass out Tom Dart and Rugaui signs. Do we need to monitor labor in this day and age. How about the police officers assigned to the corporation council, given unmarked take home cars. Couldnt a detective area do their uselesss job?
Lets do away with the cold case squad patronage hacks along with the financial crimes unit. There all patronage hacks related to the bosses.
Eliminate mass transit let the CTA pay over time or bring back there own police dept. Replace the dogs,
with private security. We should also let the avaiation police run the air ports, and return all them do nothings to the districts.
Make this administration hire police and bring the manpower numbers up ASAP.
The court officers should be forced to work eight and a half hours a day like the rest of us, civilians would be more pleasant and we should just use the time clocks,(as long as the court people are dumped) those court ass holes from their Lt. on down are nothing put relatives of the chosen few.

I hear it's not a rumour and the 311 and district issue was addressed at a recent roll call, that's why your hearing about it. This is about mgmt. stat number's and the way the unit was being run. Does anyone recall posting of answer as many call's as you can and be rewarded with a power watch of your choice for the in club, strange stat's I would say. The twist was forced dump report's aka cycle call's unofficial but officially. The best part of the story was the Commander over the unit is alleged to not even have known the unit does police reports. LMAO
Word is send limited duty to district's my thought's what about bid position's? Second part is to make 311 restricted stripped duty to continue doing the report's. Now you have limited duty throughout the city if the city move's so will in house disruption across the dept. We have to wait and see if bringing down 311 manpower is a scare tactic to shake up the in house koolaid drinkin mgmt. team. The word is their beggin and pleading for it not to be done. Let's see what B.S. stat number's on report's they will play with and bring in to Fort Koolaid. Should be interesting and amusing at the least. Then again this is simply disgusting mgmt. at it's best.
Funny thing about 3-1-1 is that its probably the least connected people in the PD that get sent there. Stripped, preggers without a protective commander, people without phone calls, you name it.

Like was said a few threads ago, 13,500 police officers equals about one per every two city street blocks in the city. You have people hiding everywhere.
Maybe Cline should draw some random star numbers from a hat and find out where they are assigned. You pull 100 numbers and find out how many of those 100 were riding around on patrol, marked or unmarked, in the last period, you'll be lucky to find 40 that were.
And who does he want returned to the districts? Why the only people who are taking pressure off the districts by taking reports over the phone.
Funny thing is, I'd guess that 80% of the POs on Lexington would love to get assigned somewhere real again. God bless em all.

here's an idea to cut the medical (bullshit) cases. if you are on the medical and ambulatory,then you must report to the medical section every fucking day and stay there for 4-6 hrs. i gurantee this will eliminate 90% of all bullshit medical abuse. iod is different but not re-occurence of iod. lets protect the medical for those who need it!!!

Med thought would be abuse of ADA, only a doctor can determine for more than the 3 day's is you are really ill. It's the law and it would be a liability. First there is no over medical abuse the city has been bull shitting you all, it's an attempt to get your reward of medical days. The city didn't give you the medical days it was won and fought for through a lawsuit and arbitration geeeeshhh. They want you to turn on each other and think like mgmt. more koolaid.

COREY JOHNSON was one of the cops from 15th district that was fired and I believe federally charged with shaking down the dope dealings on the west side. Pac-Man was the alleged ring leader.
There is a lot of good looking females in Area 2. Sadly they are mostly locked in the interview rooms awaiting charges. 99.9 percent of the female dicks actually look like chicks with dicks. I think like Great America and the signs in front of the rides that say, You must be this tall to ride this ride, Area 2 has a sign at their doors saying, Females must have an ass this big to be assigned here. Most detective divisions have soft nice music playing over the speakers. All you hear at A/2 is thighs rubbing together and the sounds of food wrappers being open and the chomping of food. And if you up there, and I am being serious here, saw it myself, look in the far corner of the area office. There is a special spot for all the broken chairs from the excessive weight loads they had to handle. Not a pretty sight.

As a Call Back veteran (POW) I agree with whoever said call back has the least connected people. I've seen plenty of people land in units and then stay when the injury/pregnancy is over (mostly women though). Call Back was like going to jail. There was an immediate pecking order when you walked in the door. The Sgt's all worked 3 days a week. POW's did nothing and no one fucked with them. Permanently assigned /detailed members did just enough to keep the heat off. One guy who was really an "actor and just doing the police thing for now" kept a pillow and blanket in his locker. 2 am? Nighty night. Another chick, with a mystery ailment, would fill out her log for the whole night at the start of the tour. Then she would vanish for hours at at a time. I guess she was too highly strung. The coppers just passing through for a month or two were expected to carry the load. It wouldn't hurt to dump all those MF's out of that place. Who the fuck would send a letter to SCC about how over worked they are at Call Back? Give me a fucking break. Bunch of whiny bitches on this job.
The 311 issue of moving officer's out of 311 is not a rumour it's a fact. First you now have stripped not able to carry their gun's at Evidence working gun's and ammo disposal, weekend's off and overtime on the horizon a special assignment. Who told Dana stark's to make the request; Holy Sh&t! Next limited duty out to district's. Their selection of who goes and who stay's if done should be interesting and no doubt will be done on a favored inside pet move.
Look's like mgmt. in CPD has failed to manage. This comes as no surprise we have been headed this way for year's. Were now all reaping the reward's of the complete break down. We also know the blue run the show, in spite of mgmt's. failure to do so> All due to city hall and 35th streets failure's of putting their children and pet's before sound judgement, that being wise manpower allotment. City hall along with Exempt's and other boss's have been running the city and dept. with their ego's like their private swank club and citizen's and officer's are paying the price.
311 is the largest unit with the least clout. It is a true unit dumping ground, for the officer's that are being punished for not only having no clout but for being outspoken about mgmt's. error's of it's ways. Officer's detailed there have limited bid right's. After the last contract FOP cut a deal with the city and twisted the bid for watch. Instead of allowing the officer's to bid each yr. like all limited duty across the dept. for a watch, FOP gave the city an out. Officer's have to be in 311 for two year's before they can even bid a watch. This choice was not placed on the table; FOP pulled it off behind the door. You won't get out of the unit unless someone makes a phone call for you. Too many favor's come through the First Deputy's and Chief of Patrol's office, way too many!

If mgmt bogus play of insufficient report number's comes out of it there's no need to worry. The boss's will just be moved and keep the big money and maybe the stripped will finish running it, for time being anyway.
It was suggested that 311 be outsourced by an oversite committee, same group that told city to pay up pension. Pressure is on budget issue's, now they want different stat's over night when knowing all along what was going on with high call's and low report's. Word comes to mind, SETUP.
Whose to determine if you are sick or not, another cop? There is already a standard order to address medical roll abuse, have you forgotten what the most recent arbitrator told the city. Sorry, I'm not for calling IAD or that 800 number on a cop for medical, especially, if I don't know if their ill or not. What, should we interview them, follow them? Why? Now we should investigate each other while the city avoids their own fear of liability and responsibility. Isn't morale low enough, this is a city ploy. I don't work in IAD and don't play chump, rat well. Appearance of medical roll abuse use procedures are already set into place. Isn't mgmt. suppose to be aware of where their manpower is, ohhhh, Yep, sure, just like stripped selling dope on the street while in 311 on day's with a squad car. It's the people on the medical that are seen remodeling their homes, working sidejobs and out in the bars all night that are the problems the Department is looking for. IAD isn't going to show up with a rectal thermoter everytime you call in with the flu.
My neighbor went IOD after he allegedly hurt his back in a minor traffic accident. He's been off for three months. In that time I've watched him completely landscape his house, including unloading tons of border stones out of his truck, and dig post holes for the fence he built. His wife was saying how great it is to have him off for the summer. Guys got less than 5 years on. Real stand up guy, right? But that's OK, cause it's the Chicago way.
Although, there are too many police officers at 35th Street, the worst part that there way too many Sergeants & Lts. And, how many are putting their half hour overtime.
I writng to city hall to exlain that members assigned to 35th Street work 8-4, 9-5 when the officers should be working until "fifteen after the hour" and the Sgt./Lt. should work the extra 30 minutes. The Sgt.Lt. assigned to 35th Street has comitted theft.
The district personnel are required to check off 15 minutes after the hour. How many times have we taken a lunch and 2 breaks per tour. At 35th Street, they work 8 to 4, and take an hour for lunch or work. FOP shoud request how many officers have taken (1) personal and lunch per tour, let alone (2) personals and (1) lunch.
Deputy Superintendent Williams will sound dumber than usaul when CBS investigatives the fraud being committed at 35th Street.
Some units/sections have five police officers with a Sgt./Lt.
I was called a fool/diot for coming back after only 2 weeks after my squad got totalled.
Id rather be my own person rather than play the stupid games the city does.

My neighbor went IOD after he allegedly hurt his back in a minor traffic accident. He's been off for three months. In that time I've watched him completely landscape his house, including unloading tons of border stones out of his truck, and dig post holes for the fence he built. His wife was saying how great it is to have him off for the summer. Guys got less than 5 years on. Real stand up guy, right? But that's OK, cause it's the Chicago way.

I just heard that Lt's, Sgt's and PO's from 35th St will be detailed to districts for 90 days. this happened a couple of years ago in the winter/spring. this rumor has been going on for a while. any news?? Supposed to start 8th period.

First of all, your command of the written word is atrocious.
Second, Administrative positions, like those at HQ, work a straight 8 hour schedule, not the 8.5 that field personnel are supposed to work.
Third, they get .75 hours a day, per their contract, not .50.

YOU LAZY DONKEY CUNT! Yes we still show up for work, but now we are doing your share and ours. Do you have any self respect? They should limit medical to 12 days per year, which you could acumulate and sell back at retirement and have unlimited medical for catastrophic illness. This would benefit the majority of us who show up for work. Watch the dogs fall by the wayside as they burn all their medical time. If your sick more than 12 days a year, evey year...your too sick to work period.
