Let's see - We instituted Fully Moderated Comments on the 6th of August. Looks like comparable traffic for that week as compared to the previous two weeks. Then the Commander Matthews story broke on the 15th of August. Numbers climbing. Then the SOS scandal begins to erupt on the 16th. Numbers through the roof including our biggest day in about a year.
Seems like people are really bored with the blog and never come to visit. We better shut the whole thing down right now, eh? Funny how the comments that are specifically critical of the blog and of SCC still seem to make it to the Board though. We repeat for the tiny brains among us - we are only censoring the obviously biased, racist, and nonsensical garbage from a few twisted individuals and those who just don't seem to get it. Everyone else seems to be just fine with the new comments policy. We don't need to resort to fake compliments to generate traffic as evidenced by the numbers. Asshat.

It was getting embarrassing reading about Ole's obsession with sexual peccadillos that are still crimes in some southern states, reading about the overt racism (under the guise of Mr Anonymous) and other horseshit by cretins.
If this was to be read by CPD officers only, that is one thing,,but Eric Zorn,John Kass and (probably) Mary Mitchell, et al were probably trolling looking for column ideas.
I have no trouble with moderating postings, SCC seems to let a lot of stuff on.
Start your own if you don't like it. as long as SCC pays for it, don't bitch.
Thanks for cleaning up the blog. It was really getting bad. Police impersonators, psychos, perverts, pea brains, piss ants, and phobiacs were taking over. Not to mention the sick, lame and lazy.
Well, SCC I normally say good job, now I say GREAT JOB! From a City Wide Unit! Funny thing is only heard of this CPD Blog site a couple of months ago and I enjoy the site.

Word is... a real story leak here... from a friend of a guy I know, who has a friend at 35th and Michigan, who swore that this is true....
Six P.O.'s currently assigned to 35 and Michigan were temporarily assigned to "Foie Gras" undercover duties today.
These P.O.'s accepted one of the most life threatening and risky undercover law enforcement duties that has been attempting in years.
While dressed in civilian clothing and displaying a very hungry face, these P.O.'s traveled from restaurant to restaurant in search of violators of the new City of Chicago ban on Foie Gras. One of these P.O.'s even went as far as to wear a Toronto emblem shirt along with a Canadian wind breaker and spoke with a fake French accent in an attempt to fool the waiter and restaurant staff.
Word is that since none of these P.O.'s had ascertained the "secret code word" (a tactic not used by commercial businesses since the Prohibition Years and Speakeasies) their attempts were all met with negative results.
Some intelligence was gather that there was a possible underground passage way under the old Al Capone hotel at Cermak and Michigan that leads to a secret door. Only with the proper sequence of knocks and the statement, "Joe, from Taylor Street sent me" will the interior security men let you gain entrance to the Foie Gras Mafia Owned Duck Liver Palace.
I will do my best, if my life isn't taken by these smugglers, to keep everyone informed of any future success in this delicate but necessary investigation.

Good work to the cops from the 5th district that responded to a man with a gun call on the 116th block of South May. The armed gangbanger thought if he ran into his house and slammed the doors shut and locked them he would get away. The tactical guys kicked in every door he slammed and locked and grabbed him and recovered the weapon. Good to see there are some balls left on this job. Needless to say the offender was very stunned that the police would come after him.
Your spike can also be attributed to those of us who came back. Now if you could only get rid of that bufoon Crime File.
I miss the give and take of "real time" posting, but I don't miss all the idiotic,sophmoric,and racist comments by a few morons. They truly spoiled it for the majority of us. Not to mention making us ALL look like asses when civilians/citizens logged on to your blog. GREAT JOB SCC!!!

SCC get a mirror and take a look at yourself. You wish to blame others for problems YOU let brew and fester. You allowed all the BS to be posted. Where is your responsibility for running an unmonitored, unregistered site. zzzzzzz PS I didnt see you take anything down too fast especially when it came to racist or rumors that could damage fellow officers. If you feel you were 100 per cent right try reading the CPD rules book.

Wah wah wah !! SCC stop feeling sorry for yourself, the self promoting is getting old. Now that some heat has been put on this site, youre going to hide behind a fake crusader cape. Eventually this site will be held culpable by CPD and I would'nt have any qualms seeing you defend yourself, which might be a little difficult with all the print copies of your blog out there. What youre trying to do is similar to what dirty cops do after they get caught stealing money you want to give it back and forget everything. NOT going to happen. Still to this day you attempt to discredit other fellow officers by supplying some of the topics on your blog. YES, bringing discredit to the department and a fellow officer is a rule violation. Your benefit ticket I WONT BUY !!

Your right, it was a harrowing experience for these well seasoned undercover Officers. Only problem was that they didn't dress for the part. Instead of dressing like a couple of stupid near north yuppie scumsters out for a little of the banned duck liver, they went into the fine French dining establishment wearing black police shoes, navy blue polyester pants and White Sox and Cub jerseys as outer garments over their blue Police shirts. The dead giveaway was however, when instead of asking for a fine wine, they asked for a couple of Buds. Pierre the Chef recognized them right away for what they are.
The SCC blog was and is an experiment in information technology. Before the Internet there was no adequate way for Chicago cops to disseminate information to each other about problems and events that affect their day-to-day professional lives.
So far I see that some injustices or outrageous acts by politicians and bosses would have gone unnoticed but for the SCC blog. This is a great tool that sheds light on crap like renaming streets after advocates of cop killing and such. SCC’s exposing silliness and waste has been no small achievement of this blog.
I think a lot of those offensive postings were revenge tactics of Ward Healers and the boneheads that have been exposed by SCC.
SCC is evolving and growing.

Don't pat yourselves on the back too loudly, SCC blogcensors. You've allowed many an ugly, racially inflammatory post until the heat got a little TOO HOT. Even after you proclaimed yourselves to "clean up your blog,"
you allowed more than a few nasties to see print here (one poster stated something to the effect of "you can take them out of the jungle, but you can't take..." ...you get the drift).
While I will admit the amount of blatant trash allowed to post here has been significantly reduced, you've still got a long way to go.
