Happy Thanksgiving

Things we are thankful for:
  • Family - all currently healthy
  • Friends - we have some of the best friends in the world
  • Co-Workers - we're out there with you, day in and day out
  • Our Readers - without you, we're screaming into the void
Be careful out there. Some of us are working today, away from friends and family. Some of us are lucky enough to be home watching football. Regardless, be thankful for what you have, little though it may be.

I'm working, missing football and a nice meal too. Plase bring hot drumsticks and mashed potatoes to Belmont/Elston ;)

Thank you SCC, for your hard work. And more importantly, to our Officers, Fire, 9-1-1 and military men and women out here.

It's an honor honoring our fallen and keeping their voices alive as well as doing work for our living in blue.

Anybody see con man, race pimp, Jesse on the 10 o'clock news?

He says that the N word must be illegal to utter!

The wimp liberal reporter didn't ask him about maybe outlawing the "Hymie" word as in hymietown!

But all is well, Jesse has "forgiven" Kramer and now will try to figure out some way to get in his pocket.

As much as we love this job, we must remember that family is what it is all about. Put the stress and thoughts of your job aside today and enjoy the most important part of your life.....family. Have a very happy thanksgiving to all and god bless.

I'm thankful for being able to retire this year, safe and mostly mentally sound, still married and happy with a healthy family. God bless my brothers and sisters in BLUE, stay safe, never lose sight of why you took this crazy job, or how many things and people are waiting to take it from you. The most important thing is returning home to your family each day.

Though I'm RDO today and fortunate enough to have Thanksgiving Day (at lunch time) with my family before I go work at the airport(Got to work extra to survive), just remember to be careful at those Domestic calls. I'd bet there is going to be some form of domestic comedy / battle over a piece of turkey, just remember to post it so we can all enjoy the laugh. STAY SAFE

I am thankful that A/2 SVU still is
the worst and laziest unit in the city. They no longer come out to the districts as required by order. You have to process the youth and then take the youth to them cause they shorthanded. Then when you arrive in they office, there are 5-6 youth dicks in there playing on the internet. Priceless.

To whomever is the idiot Green Bay Packer fan is in Chicago that keeps posting on this blog:

Your team's day in the sun is over! Get a life and enjoy the bottom of the division for the next 8-10 years. Brett Favre WAS a great player but he should have retired 2-3 years ago. QUIT POSTING YOUR FUDGE-PACKER B.S. ON THIS BLOG!

I am very thankful for those who are working on this Thanksgiving Holiday, trying to keep the lid on
Pandora's Box, while I am home stuffing my face with great grub and washing it down with good beer & booze. I am also very thankful that I don't have to do that anymore. Enjoy the wishbone murder, the gravy scalding, the family feud, and put a gangbanger in CCJ for the Holidays!
Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless all of you!

I am thankful for all the new recruits with the gel in there hair and gloves who have pushed up my seniority allowing me to be an "old timer" with only 8 years on the job. I will enjoy my D.O.H. and the next couple days off as well while you guys drive around the westside and think how great it is to deal with joe while I am at home with my family. Thank you.

I say in the other comment section about the 019th district copper heading to another coppers home off duty to confront him about a supposed trafic stop!

I knew about this an the officer involved from 019 but did not want to post his name. What a fucking joke this department has come too. Now this moron has to think about if he will even be able to havea job after all this.

Have fun dumb ass sitting in call back until fired for misuse of computers, lying on a police report, etc

Yes, annually there's always a 'Drumstick Massacre' and the media does oftentimes pick up on it.

If not.....anyone out there handling a shooting or stabbing involving a Thanksgiving Dinner i.e...... "he/she took the last, drum stick, sweet potato, macaroni and cheese, pork rind, grape pop etc., so I shot/stabbed etc. him/her!" PLEASE post it here.

After over 35 years of experiencing, hearing or reading about it, I don't want to be disappointed.
Happy 'Bird Day'...Stay Safe

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
I'm thankful for all four of my healthy children born to me. I'm especially thankful for my oldest daughter, who is 19 and is currently serving a four year term in the U.S. Army. Remember September 11, 2001? I do, and I remember my daughter coming home after school and telling my wife and I "I want to do something". Well she was a freshman at Mother Mcauley HS at the time, and by senior year she was signed up and sworn in. She graduated from MM in '05 and left a few months later. Needless to say she is my hero. It is hard to describe her drive, but she is there and doing her service to us and our God loving country. Right now she is stationed in Mannheim, Germany which is just fine by us, but if called to go she will and do us proud. I love this little girl so much and it was hard for us to let her go, but we had too. This is her calling she loves this country and is the best of the best this country has to offer. Just needed to share this with all brothers and sisters in blue on this special day. Copper in 008.

Three things please

Now that Im retired I will miss the Thanksgiving Day senseless violence stories.
PLease relate any petty family violence that occurs on the Holiday.
Like I cant wait to hear about the reason for the HBT at 69 & Jeffery

Second, to 09:49 The Lord will only bless the Packer fans who pay their ill-conceived anti Bear Packer related bets.

Lastly, I wish all my blue family a Happy safe holiday and career.
Even the Packer Fan(s)

I'm retired now but thinking back to the Thanksgiving day where I handled a DOA that had to go to the morgue. We had 3 wagons in 010 and they were all down on jobs-after being in the house with the DOA and the family for quite some time waiting for the wagon, good ol Sgt.Hamilton came by, saw that the family had planned on a thanksgiving feast{table set, food on stove etc.}. Sgt. got on the radio and requested zone to send a wagon ftrom 011 as company was coming for dinner! The ol Grandpa is getting stiff in his death bed and Sgt. is worried about the 'wake' that is about to take place.....well, we got the 011 Dist wagon to transport as I had done the case report. I still chuckle about that one!

Happy Thanksgiving, but hear it out, stop complaining and recoginze that we have a good paying job, benefits, and the option to do nothing when you're hung over. Bitch that you haven't been taken care of, or that this job is all bullshit. Your neighbor the plumber, carpenter, or factory guy may not see your argument. Appreciate what you have. Talk to someone who's slept on some shitty foreign dirt about life sucking and you might think your 8 hour tour isn't so bad. We embarass ourselves with all this bullshit. Shut up, do your jobs, and thank god you can go home without a sore back everyday.

Uncle sloppy was a good boss, remnants of every meal he had on the job could be found in his tie. He would sit at the desk in 010 and the cigarette ashes would fall onto his shirt and tie constantly. A regular red haired pig pen. But he was a good boss and would stand up for his troops. Alway's had a simple way of handling things, not uncommon for him to bodily throw someone out the front door of 010.
Nice for us to remember guy's like that.
