The Joys of a Conservative Court

You have got to love the impact Reagan, Bush and Bush have had on the Supreme Court over the past few decades. Sure, they've rolled out a few clunkers of judiciary opinion here and there, but over all, a Conservative court is good for the police.
  • WASHINGTON---- A deadline is a deadline is a deadline, the Supreme Court said Wednesday in refusing to allow a man wrongly imprisoned for more than eight years to sue the police officers who arrested him.

Andre Wallace, whose murder conviction was overturned in 2002, waited several years too long to file his false arrest lawsuit, the court said in a 7-2 ruling.

We'd hope that Bush gets one more chance to put a strict originalist on the Court before he leaves office. It'd be a bloodbath with a democratic controlled Senate, but entertaining politics to say the least and energizing to the Conservative base at the outside. It'll give the liberals nightmares for the next 15 years.

you know, the '08 election is very important. I'm not one to get excited about politicians, but....the division between the Dems and the Repubs, the libs and the conservatives, couldn't be more distinct. Hillary and/or Obama for the Dems (?)....more of the Clintons, or an African, as President of the United States? The upcoming election (taxation, illegal immigration, national security, etc.) is important....

Credit is also due to the corp counsels office who handled this case from the outset, through appeals, and to the Supreme Court

I agree with 12:41am. Let's face it, the Republicans had a good run but popular opinion is definitely with the Dems (not too happy about that).

The candidates for the Dems this time are just as craptacular as '04 and '00.

Oh sure, Obama is a sexy, well spoken, "clean", charismatic black man (excuse me while I swallow the little bit of puke that just shot up my esophogus).

Hillary is pretty awesome too. She's about two hot-flashes away from a total melt down.

Edwards is a viable option. Who knows? A closeted homosexual might actually be the answer we're looking for.

The other candidates are pretty cool too. So cool in fact, that I couldn't name a single one.

Basically folks, we're f***ed.

The Dems are just as dillusional, if not more, this time as they were the last 4 or 5 elections.

The fued going on between Obama and Clinton(s) right now is proof that even they are having a hard time swallowing eachothers' shit.

I'm gonna sit back and see how the lunacy unfolds. There's still an off chance this country will wake up and see strong candidates in McCain or Guiliani(?). I'm not holding my breath though.

When it all starts turning into one big socialist shit fight, I'll pick up my family and move to a "real" socialist country. I hear the President of Denmark is pretty hot!

Bush did more for this country by appointing Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito than anything he is ever gong to do.

Originalists interpret the constitution based on the original meaning of the language used at the time of the drafting of the Constitution. Originalist and Constructionalist can be used almost interchangably as far as we know.

The Cold War is not dead my friends. It is alive and well as long there are those of us willing to fight. A vote for a democrat is a vote for socialism and/or communism, plain and simple. That party was high-jacked in the 60's by leftist hippie revolutionary jag-offs and they haven't looked back since. Ironically, a PBS documentary on the '68 democratic convention here in Chicago documents the events I am speaking of. Great stuff!

I agree completely. But be aware the Republican party was also hijiacked by big government jacobite noe-cons ever since Reagan. Neither party is worth a shit! Beware Cheney, Feith and the mojority of the writers of New Rupublic - all big government Republicans. Try The American Conservative for legitamite conservatism.

I'm as frustrated as any Republican can be. I fully support the war effort, but I am continually preplexed by their expansion of purely Democrat programs. More money for these lazy ass Senior Citizens through Medicare. Let them spend their own money and not worry about how much they're going to leave their kids. And how about the Republican position on immigration. I voted for Bush twice but other then the war effort he gets a F minus in my book. Too much giving in to the other side of the aisle. Bring back Regan policies and politics.
