Cortez Trotter, who has taken more than a few beatings in various comment sections regarding mismanagement and squandering of training opportunities for the city's first responders, is resigning:
Chief Emergency Officer Cortez Trotter abruptly resigned today, leaving Chicago with vacancies or lameducks in three jobs crucial to the city’s ability to handle a disaster or terrorist attack.
Trotter’s resignation from the $167,700-a-year job created just for him was delayed until after the mayoral election.
If only we had friends who could magically create $167,700-a-year jobs just for us. Last night around 1130 pm I was driving from Wisconsin and decided to stroll through the Gold Star Police Memorial. As I approached the fountain I looked down and stared at the bricks looking for my families name. Just then I noticed a reflection in the water of the fountain and as I turned and looked I observed a man in full CPD dress Blues wearing a "bobby" helmet, and also had a night-stick on his belt.
I followed him down the path towards the Police Memorial Wall and he looked back once and I saw he had a mustache and his CPD patch on his jacket wasn't like the ones we have now, it was much smaller. I was about 7 feet from him when he entered the entrance of the Police Wall and as I turned the corner he was GONE. A huge gust of wind came as I was standing there as a chill went through my bones. I ran out of there into the darkness until my legs felt like jello. (remember as a kid running up the stairs as if someone was chasing you but no-ones there)I tried to scream ...but no sound would come out of my mouth. Who was that strange, nostalgic man wearing that uniform and where did he go? I have been a Police officer for 9 years and the last time I had an unexplained event happen to me was when I was 6 years old and it involved a UFO. I called a friend of mine to review the camera pods that are at the Police memorial Wall and at that time/date she said there was a strange light but nothing else. I just wanted to share my story and possibly see if anyone had a similar sighting. God Bless you all and I know now that someone is watching over us...and our fallen brothers and sisters.

OMG Are you kidding me??? I was there 3 weeks ago around 800 pm with my parents and my mom saw him! We thought he was paid to be there patrolling in the old uniform. How do you thank officers in a specialized unit who got another firearm off the streets and out of the hands of gangbangers? DUMP 'EM!!! That's how. These hard working officers legitimately got a handgun off the streets; but because of some stupid ass memo where a sgt. has to be present during the recovery and a whole shit load of poor timing, these poor officers were told to "Pick a District".
On the flip side, the districts these officers were assigned are getting EXCELLENT officers. I just hope that this won't bust their "get 'em before they get us" attitudes.

In the days when CPD wore grey felt "Bobby" helmets, we did not have shoulder patches at all. I don't think shoulder patches came in until the 1940s. However, the cap shields from the Bobby helmets remained the same with the soldered numbers until just recently.

Good evening, I am not a police officer (although I thank God for what you people do every day)I am a grounds keeper that does the lake front and the Blue Star Memorial Park. Seeing that I can't be the only crazy person to have something weird happen to me I would like to share my story. As the park was in it's late stages of completion I was getting the soil prepared for the new sod and as I was driving away I spotted the "old Timer" in uniform. What striked me odd was the police helmet he wore. He was walking through my prepared soil and as I yelled out to him he never stopped or said anything back -I drove away. The next morning I noticed a pair of shoe tracks where I spotted him the night before. The tracks went for about 10 feet into the mud and just stopped. NO signs of tracks leading out or back....just stopped. Sounds impossible? Yeah I thought so too.

OFF TOPIC: Keeping with the long honored tradition of CPD Brass Lacking Intestinal Fortitude and a set of BALLS! JR and WG dump 6 from SOS. Instead of disbanding the unit and starting from scratch with the cluless 3yr wonders that are applying there now(doing "real police work" getting that one bag of weed in the DOC) You let the innocent suffer for the sins of a few. Dragging the reputations of honest hard-working po's through the gutter in the name of "reform". You killed morale and took the fun out of what was once a great job. These cowards knew what was going on but allowed it to continue the Chicago Way (The rules don't appply to the connected.....but we will make an example out of the rest. The hammer will fall on those with no clout.) These 6 men were great coppers the last of a dying breed, the kind that actually make physical arrests of real criminals(and get this they are usually outside the DOC) Join the rest of us who left or were dumped boys, and tell the last coppers from the "Old SOS" to turn the lights out when they leave.
SOS needs to be disbanded they took a great unit and totally fucked it up with balless supervisors and the rest! Is matt tobias in any shit? Of course not he is exempt=no problems mate!

From what I heard. In SOS if a cop gets info on drugs or gun stashed somewhere, they have to notify their sgt. The sgt has to go talk to the informant before they can recover anything, and do a report. The officers called their Lt., who told them it was ok to recover the gun, and to let their sgt. know. The rest is history. This may not be 100% accurate. As you state no one gets dumped for no reasons, but there are sure some bullshit reasons. Good luck to the officers involved, and justice to those involved in getting them dumped.

Yes but he will collect one pension from the Firemens Pension fund and will collect a second pension for is Chief Dildo position which will be tied into the state fund that electic officials recive theid money from. So therefor he is not really collecting 2 "city" pensions

TRUE STORY / OFF TOPIC:
Last night around 1130 pm I was driving from Wisconsin and decided to stroll through the Gold Star Police Memorial. As I approached the fountain I looked down and stared at the bricks looking for my families name. Just then I noticed a reflection in the water of the fountain and as I turned and looked I observed a man in full CPD dress Blues wearing a "bobby" helmet, and also had a night-stick on his belt.
I followed him down the path towards the Police Memorial Wall and he looked back once and I saw he had a mustache and his CPD patch on his jacket wasn't like the ones we have now, it was much smaller. I was about 7 feet from him when he entered the entrance of the Police Wall and as I turned the corner he was GONE. A huge gust of wind came as I was standing there as a chill went through my bones. I ran out of there into the darkness until my legs felt like jello. (remember as a kid running up the stairs as if someone was chasing you but no-ones there)I tried to scream ...but no sound would come out of my mouth. Who was that strange, nostalgic man wearing that uniform and where did he go? I have been a Police officer for 9 years and the last time I had an unexplained event happen to me was when I was 6 years old and it involved a UFO. I called a friend of mine to review the camera pods that are at the Police memorial Wall and at that time/date she said there was a strange light but nothing else. I just wanted to share my story and possibly see if anyone had a similar sighting. God Bless you all and I know now that someone is watching over us...and our fallen brothers and sisters.
