No Cash Bags?

We were told of this shortage the other day over beers. A couple of tactical teams tried to find bags to inventory cash and were told by the desk that there weren't any. Now we read this in the comments section:
  • Here's a little info. about the blue inventory bags. The city has failed to pay the vendor (once again) and there are no blue bags going to be delivered. The contract has been cancelled. We're trying to figure out what we'll use once they run out of the current stock. Prepare for some new directive from on high. That is all.
Has the City ever paid a vendor on time for anything? Ever? A few years back when they were phasing out the Inventory Books and e-Track wasn't completely bug free yet (and still isn't), there was a huge to-do about running out of Inventory Books and the contractor wouldn't print anymore because the City was months (or years) behind on paying them for past work anyway.

How hard is it to actually pay bills so we can have the supplies necessary to do the job the way they want it done? It's amazing.

I was told that some goof wasn't excepting the sliced up make-shift bags, so I was inventorying money the other day in the medium sized bags...ridiculous. Not bad if you got 50K, but $300? Damn, this department is such a travesty.

Don't even get me started about the city paying bills. I was IOD a few months back and keep getting bills and calls saying that the city has not paid anything and are not returning any of their calls or correspondance's. It's just sickening. It's bad enough we get hurt out there and have to deal with that and the recovery, but then for the city to put us personally in financial trouble and ruin our credit is just pushing me about as far as i can be pushed. Anyone have any suggestions about what i can do? Who to contact/call to get this shit paid? Obviously our medical section and bill payers don't give a crap about us at all.

My wife worked for a surgeon who regularly saw IOD's. Business was verry, verrry good for the first year and then lo' and behold, the checks from the city never appeared. Countless calls to the head of the Medical Section said she was not responsible that the Finance Committee paid the bills. The Finance Committee clerk says, "oh, we only meet twice a year to authorize payments". Needless to say, the surgeon told the Med. Section he could no longer treat officers. It actually took two years to get back payments. But the real kicker is that the mush-mouths would call and ask if the doctor could see an officer injured on duty. Are ya' kiddin?

we don't even have prisoner property bags. Don't even have more than 3 working computers that work in our processing rooms. BUT you know they have EVERYTHING they need at 35th!
3 years and counting!

Not that we are the largest user of any type of bags in 016 but we've been out of prisoners property bags for a month at least!! That single wallet does look silly in the large bag. Maybe the city can have everyone in dope districts collect all those zip lock bags and redistribute them to all the districts. What a joke!!

About a year ago in 003 they told us to use PINK or YELLOW paper which they had cases upon cases of, instead of white for the the printer. If they ever made an arrest they'd know pink or yellow complaints/case reports don't go over well in court. That lasted about 3 days, not because someone realized it was stupid, it was because every copper was "obtaining' white paper from the w/c \ front officer secret stash and they couldn't stop it.

Cops: 12-Year-Old Not Intended Target Of Shooting

What about the more than 6700 guns turned in last month at $100 a pop? I guess they were just spending more money they don't have. Nobody told the criminals to turn in thier guns or they just went and bought more and half the price or just stole them.

My oh my--don't you know it's the Chicago Way? Can you imagine anyone wanting to contract for the 'Olympics'? Vendors should make the city put a minimum of 40% on ANY order or service...Oh, wait, make that 60%.

FYI. Any vendor who does buisness with the City of Chicago has in their contract that payment CAN be made within 120 days. That is not a mis-print. That is fact. This is why we all pay the "coruption" tax.

Medical bills are'nt being paid for PO's, by the City of Chicago? Where the hell is your union/fraternal orgainizations press release? Stand up and be counted. Or lay down and be mounted. Nice work Lodge 7.

Do like every other sh**head felon. Get yourself a lawyer and sue the piss out of them. Since the City settles all their lawsuits without a fight,. you might have a chance here.

If you have an IOD and go to the Emergency Room, do not give them your home address and phone number. Use your station address and phone number only.

I think the city didn't pay the cable T.V. bill at H.Q.

I was recently @ the medical section and in the waiting room the TV picture was really fuzzy and fading in-and-out when ever someone walk by it. Plus there was a BIG sign taped to it cautioning NOT to change the channel (I think it was on WGN Ch. 9)

I just remember thinking to myself, "how pathetic."
**********************************

(I know some loser out there will make a quip about.."no..what is pathetic is your dog ass on the medical, etc.) Save it, I ain't an abuser just a P.O. who never used it until a serious illness almost killed me!

One of the reasons the city can't pay bills is that they are probably paying two to three times the actual cost of the item. Instead of direct buying through the manufacturer or wholesaler, the city must have a 3rd party "vendor" to jack up the price. And of course, the third party vendor is a mandatory minority company or political hack the city must do business with i.e. the cousin to an alderthief. The wa$te is blatant and $hameful.

I USED TO GENERATE ABOUT A THOUSAND DOLLARS WORTH OF PARKERS A WEEK.

HOW MUCH CAN THOSE BAGS COST.

TO HELL WITH IT JUST AVOID ARREST AND YOU WILL NEVER ENCOUNTER THE STRESS CAUSED BY MIS-MANAGEMENT.

WE ARE THE PAPERLESS SYSTEM....

Look at the money we loose on the minority contracts. The tires for the fire trucks and heavy police vehicles which come with any vehicle purchased have to be provided by a minority contractor. Any tool purchased by the CPD or CFD has to be stenciled by a minority contractor not the manufactuer. No one wants to supply equipment.

Mr. Fitzgerald should start at Fleet management, and then the city purchasing department.

Why does 35th St have all the good fax machines and computers. How about a copy machine that works for the districts..

A couple years ago we ran out of body bags and had to beg the firemen for them

Medical guy,
Just keep calling the medical section. Sooner or later you will get someone who does what they are supposed to do. I have had the same probelm in the past Northwestern is good for that. The Medical Faculty Foundation (their personal debt collection agency) send out the leter within a month and sends it to credit collection right away. They know the city does this but they get paid faster because the P.O.'s usually do all of the work and get the documents needed and harrass the medical section to speed things up...Good luck.

Office - my advice for you, having been throught this twice for two seperate IOD surgeries.

#1, Next time ENSURE they do not use your home address or information. Change everything to 35th and Michigan, not your district address, use 35th and Michigan. I forgot the room number for the Medical Surpervisor, but use her room number as your apartment number on the address.

#2, YOU DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE INFORMATION!! Do not, again - DO NOT give them any of your own health insurance information. I know this sounds like a "duh" statement but so many PO's have done this. Hell, the illegals do not have insurance for real - and they get treated for sure. Tell the hopital that you go to over and over that it is a Workmens Comp case, and give them 35 and Michigan as the work place address.

#3. Tell the crditors that you will talk with your attorney if they keep on calling, politely, and give them the Medical Supervisors name, number, and address. Tell them to forward ALL letters, phone calls, etc to her.

#4. Call Bill Dougherty at the FOP and keep on him to keep on your bills. He does a good job, once you are able to get hold of him.

I know it is BS that you have to do this - it adds insult to your injury already, but that is the way the system is.

Good Luck

I sold my house in Chicago after retiring in 2000. Somehow the city water dept. got my address in Florida. They keep sending me a delinquent water bill with penalties added on. Numerous calls to the water dept. resulted in its on the computer and you owe even after I told them I sold the property and sent the prorated payment statement. I think the last time I checked it shows about $10,000 for water, so go figure.
