More Protests Coming?
- A Chicago Police officer fatally shot a 15-year-old male Thursday night on the Southeast Side.
South Chicago District tactical officers in an unmarked car heard a gunshot near East 87th Street and South Commercial Avenue about 9:45 p.m. The officers continued westbound on East 87th Street and saw the teen fire a second shot, police News Affairs Deputy Director Pat Camden said.
After chasing the shooter on South Exchange Avenue, the teen turned toward the officers with a gun in his hand.
Then the officers did what training dictates and killed the OFFENDER as authorized by General Order and State Law. Another individual was located near the scene, shot, possibly by the teen with the gun. He'll end up being a witness for the dead OFFENDER'S family lawsuit at some point and say that future medical student was just doing some field research into how police will kill any teenager near the scene of gunshots.

What gets me is when police defend themselves, everyone comes out saying, "the police killed him", but when killers' murder someone, (which is all the time) nobody comes out and yells about the murderer. All they do is march about "gun violence", when they should be marching about who is killing people. We are not the police, but know enough not to pull a gun on one.
Meliton Recendez,15, was hit once in the upper body. He was rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead just after midnight. Friday morning, his family, including his seven brothers and sisters, have a lot of unanswered questions.
"They ain't telling me nothing. They have not spoken to me. The only thing they told me was, they came over here after I went to Christ hospital, they just told me that I could pick up my son's body at Cook County. I told them, 'No.' What I wanted to know is the detective's name that shot my son," said Elsa Cardenas, the boy's mother.
Elsa Cardenas says her son was not involved in any gangs, and he did not own a gun. She says he was on probation for another offense and ran from police because he was worried he would get in more trouble.

On Friday, Recendez's family questioned the police account. They said Recendez, a freshman at New Millennium School of Health High School, was in the middle of watching a movie with his sisters and girlfriend Thursday night when he went to the corner store to buy juice, family members said. His mother, Elsa Cardenas, said she thinks he was caught in the crossfire of an ongoing neighborhood gang dispute.
She said her son was trying to stay out of trouble because he was on probation for throwing a rock at a car in January. The teen had three juvenile arrests on his record, Bond said.
"He was trying to stay out of trouble, that's why he was running," Cardenas said. "I'm not going to say he was all goody-two-shoes ... [but] that doesn't give the cops the right to shoot him."
Neighbor Ellen Lee, who saw the teenager lying on the ground in the alley after he was shot, said she saw a chrome gun under Recendez when paramedics turned him over. She said the violence in the neighborhood has escalated in the last few months.
Easy to read between the lines, isn't it, folks? "Trying" to stay out of trouble but just couldn't quite do it, could he? Anyone want to bet that he would have been in alternative school by his sophomore year? Most likely he was going down to the corner store to rob a 40 or he had to carry a gun because a rival gang member might shoot him in the ass. But, that doesn't get onto the air, does it?
I have been reading here and on other threads about why the media tip toes around the scumbag offenders. LIBEL. Well what about the way the above article is written? Why isn't the same courtesy applied to police? Why are they portrayed as "victims" instead of offenders? The kid is always an aspiring lawyer, doctor, etc. They show him wearing a cap and gown from kindergarten. The parents are always outraged. Fuuuuuuuuuuck you. I've had the pleasure of working with gangs. Hard to become a lawyer when you have five or six felony convictions for slinging rock, isn't it? Nine times out of ten, the "kids" I worked with were second or third generation bangers. The parents criminal records were worse than their kids. Just once I'd like to see the parents in a television interview say, "Yeah, he was a gang-banger. Rotten kid. Gave me nothing but trouble, has a criminal history as long as my arm. Thank God, someone does police work in 022. Of course, there are SOME good cops in 022, but the vast majority are absolute bottom of the barrell on this job.
I would actually go so far to say that as a unit from the top down the 22nd Dist. is the worst law enforcement group in the world.
Iraqis train faster than POs in 022.
I think y'all need a little more more CQB training from the comments.
