I had the misfortune of having to be a part of the daily aggravated battery meetings with D/C Maher back in A/5. I found through experience that she is one ingorant and beligerant individual. I, and others there, were treated as if we were little children.
She truly was promoted far beyond her level of incompetence! Had she not been a well-endowed female Hispanic officer, she would never have risen past the rank of patrolman.
Maria, while you may not be a bad person, you sucked as both a police officer and superisor. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!

Looking at my old calendar books and it was exactly three days short of four since they last came out. Hummmmmmm... Saturday I got my FOP ballot and another mailing from group of potential tyrants who want me to vote independent. The problem is the people that I actually know with that group are all even bigger jerks! But I will vote independent, for everyone who does not soil themselves by mailing the crap to my house.

They are still recovering after the Acosta Debacle, they have less than 50% of their 9/11 manpower and asked to do more with less all because of city hall medeling. I called the unit at 7PM of Friday night and got the secretary!! How many units or district have commanders staff working that late??

Thank you for seeing the enormity of the mistake of putting Maria Maher in her former position. Now please realize that there is a web of clout babies under her and former Area 5 Cmmdr., Supt Cline. Please look into Area 5 which is the former stomping grounds of both of these exempts. As you know, all Sgt's and Lt's are handpicked for the Area's. Most have never been detectives. Some have been detectives for as little as 6 months while they were waiting for their next meritorious position of Sgt. After all of 6 months back in patrol, they mysteriously reappear in the D unit. Please see the wrong in this process. There are but a few supervisory personnel in place who deserve the spot. More are doing time in patrol and would excel in that position. Please look at leadership, experience, and ability when these spots are filled. Routinely, Investigations are hindered by outright poor management decisions, Outrageously, it seems no one really cares or knows about what detectives actually need to get the job done. I have been outright lied to by my superiors on several occasions, and my suspects were sent home at the end of my tour in the middle of several ongoing investigations and there is no recourse. Overtime should not be a restriction in an ongoing investigation. A good supervisor can tell the difference. Please put the merit back into the merit process if their must be one! Hint......Meritorious promotions are clout driven. I am also sure you know that many of the recent meritorious nominees to Sgt. did not bother to take the second half of the promotional exam. Former Supt Cline did not seem to have a problem with that. Whack all the Lt's, and most of the Sgts. in the Area's I will not name names. I believe you can see their insincerity as any police officer can. Experience and strong leadership are rare here. I believe a difference can be made when the right people are in place to make the right decisions. This is not an isolated incident. I believe a similar pattern exists across the city, within the Area's and throughout CPD. I know change cant happen overnight. I look forward to your future decisions.

When an appointment of an incompetent to a command position is such a flagrant waste of taxpayer dollars, there must be accountability.
Both Maher and the person(s) that elevated her to exempt positions should be ordered to repay the pension fund.

What I love about all these "resignations/retirements" are the curses and pouting of P.O's that have lost their juice, family clout, and phone calls. Suddenly they are running scared, they don't know whose ass to kiss anymore and are regretting the bridges they burned long ago. Their cushy spots are not so set in stone as they once believed and the promised spots are now lost.
Goes to show everybody... Treat each other as you would like to be treated cuz you NEVER know who can become a boss in the future.
For now the CPD playing field is being leveled and the pot is being stirred. There is new hope in the department and everyone is carefully watching... For many, it is exciting times but for others a nightmare. When the dust finally settles from Jody's revamping of CPD, watch for the forming of new alliances and the banishing of those whom are deemed not worthy. For those who never had it, new fruit will bloom bearing many P.O.'s with juice. Lines will be ringing off the hook with the many new phone calls. Some old bricks will be tossed aside and of course, new bricks will be laid. A new clout will be born... But beware, some of the old will still be mixed in with a lot of the new. Lets just hope that this change helps all P.O.'s. in the long run.

It is my guess that in the upcoming FOP elections the top of the ticket will win without any trouble. The incumbents are all running against weak opponents from the nut job ticket. And Jans and Jaglowski are both controlled by Wayne the puppet master. The only contested elections are for Sgt-at-arms and Trustee. Two candidates for trustee are trying to double-dip. Steve Robbins gets a salary from working at the pension board and Duckhorn gets a stipend from being our Rep to the State Lodge in addition to his pension. And do we really need a husband and wife team on the board? The Hudik’s are both max’ed and can retire any day. And Trevino also openly talks about retiring and moving out of state in 2009 too! And now that Sgt. Majerczyk is off the board will his sister be able to get a word in edge wise?
Tim Fallon’s bio on his team’s website is empty sort of like his real life personality. He has said that having too many retiree’s on the board kills us because they can not be on the Negotiating Team. But his team has put at least four retirees on their ticket. Retirees vote at such I high percentage that these guys are all shoe-ins. I can’t vote for the Nut Job Jans Ticket either. If you take the candidate list and line out the retiree’s, the nut job ticket and cronies that leaves the following independent group of people. One staff member with a mon-fri week works every saturday at time and one half and has the checks sent to the 3rd district.
You do the math. Assuming this office lice works just 40 saturdays at 35.00 per hour at
time and one/half equals $52.50 per hour.
40 saturdays equals 480 hours at 35.00 which produces a grand annual total of: Drum roll please !$16,800
After I work 6 days in a day off group. Do you think I want to work my RDO?

You can say what you want about Peterson being an idiot, but he was one hell of a good detective in his day. On his worse day, he was better then probably 90% of what works in the Detective Units today....

Did you forget how many great detectives he ran out of Area 4 when he took over, now who do they have at Area 4, a bunch of know-nothings running Homicide Investigations, while the good detectives that don't play ball are shunned to RBT or SVU. Hopefully the SKULL takes some of his useless suck-hole supervisors with him and Area 4 finally gets quality supervisors and detectives to run the show. Lets not forget how the SKULL and his idiots ruined the murder investigation of a P.O., but of course he blamed it on 35th Street.
John Farrell, the BEST possible choice for the next Chief! If they were to make him the Cheif then we would all realize that he is attempting to make this a better department.

Obvously you are one of those "know nothing clout guys" because you missed the point. The writer was making a statement of fact regarding how many veteran, experienced Detectives left Area 4 after the BONEHEADED SKULL came in and destroyed one of the better Areas in the city. The SKULL depleated Area 4 of experienced Detectives and brought in a bunch on new dicks that were not trained properly because there was no veteran leadership and the SKULL's suckhole sgts (R.C. & J.B) know nothing about being a supervisor, let alone a supervisor of detectives. Through no fault of their own, this new breed of Homicide Detectives in Area 4, are running around like "a puppy chasing his own tail" conducting complex investigations and their supervisors are the "blind leading the blind". All this ultimately reflects on the SKULL and his leadership skills or lack of, which should scare the hell out of anybody when you realize that this IDIOT was just placed in charge of Investigative Services.

Agree with this and the rest of this post. There is a certain sexism going on with all the criticism of Maher. Many male bosses are worse. As angry as she gets she is not one to hold a grudge or hurt someone. There are lots of vindictive bosses on this job. She is not one of them.
The sawed off bitch cut the legs out from under anyone that would not kiss her ass and tell her how great she was. Many of good Sgts and Pos that refused to be rats snitches or join her ranks felt her rath by being dumped and her minions would then talk shit about them to try and ruin reputations.
