Mediocrity is the Name

  • The Bears and quarterback Rex Grossman have agreed to terms Saturday on a one-year contract worth $3 million, including a signing bonus, half of which is guaranteed. Grossman can also earn just shy of $2 million more in performances incentives.

The AP has reported the deal has been signed.

Grossman, who was headed for the free-agent market Feb. 29, will get a chance to compete for the starting role next season but has not been promised in job. One NFL source said it would be Kyle Orton's job to lose once training camp starts.

Just ditch Grossman, make Orton the guy, Griese can backup Orton.

Why waste the signing bonus money? Grossman was never the answer and the money is better spent on another wide receiver.

we need a stud running back like they got in minnesota. benson isn't the answer. adrian ok but not a game breaker. i would like to see the wolf kid get more snaps but he can't block. bring back thomas jones-- rex needs to go see an optometrist.

Griese is too expensive to carry. He will be gone soon.

They did the right thing. They have plenty of money under the cap. Releasing griese will save money. Just thank god they didn't franchise tag Berrian.

Offensive line is finished.
No Running Back.
No wide outs. Berrian is grossly overrated. He drops at least 1/3 of the passes comming his way.

Grossman, Ortman? Joe Montana in his prime couldn't save this offense.

The only way this team wins 8 games next year is to grab another semi-decent healthy RB and run in tandum with Peterson. Then use the whole draft to shore up the defense.

This way they can win a few games with special teams and defensive turnovers.

Superbowl? HA. You're better off buying Bulls season tickets because they will be in the finals LONG before the Bears return.

grossman will be good if they get a running back like jamal lewis and 2 new offensive linemen. that allows rex to do play action and go deep. u can't have the defense ganging up on him. plus better play calling would also.

bears need help in lots of areas.

offensive line is getting old.

bensen is a mediocre running back and shows no signs of breaking out.

none of the current crop of qbs looks like the answer, although orton may be the closest.

The Bears going to the superbowl anytime soon is like the Cubs winning the World series, the Black Hawks gettting the Stanley Cup, and the Residency being lifted for us hard working city workers. NEVER!!!!!
