The problem is Districts are short personnel. TRU does very little in my opinion. And I too have seen 5 or 6 or more TRU cars taking lunch for 2 hours or more in Mt. Greenwood. TRU needs to be dissolved and the P.O.'s reasined to the Districts. Three Distrcits need to be closed. Jody and the MAyor are letting politics stand in the way of police work.

A spike in Chicago shootings that made national news over the weekend was caused in part by a gang war that flared on the South Side, police said.
And police plan to respond with gun, tactical and gang teams -- even SWAT officers in battle gear.
Police Supt. Jody Weis planned to deploy SWAT as part of summer patrols, but the department is accelerating the plan because of the weekend's shootings.
"We haven't done this in a while,'' department spokeswoman Monique Bond said. "It's an aggressive message that law enforcement is taking this very seriously. At this point ... we have to take necessary measures to demonstrate that violence will not be tolerated. Sometimes a visible presence sends a louder message.''

I work in the "D" unit. I heard and listened to my out dated Motorola radio that was issued to me. I heard about the shooting. 4 shot, whatever. About 15 mins later, when every officer should be patrolling and preventing any kind of retaliation, a Sgt calls for a seatbelt mission.

Chicago police spokeswoman Monique Bond said the total number of casualties is preliminary, and the department's crime tallies are not made official until the 15th of every month. The department is releasing the unofficial weekend count because the media have been reporting different numbers, Bond said.
"We are not going to release crime numbers on a daily basis because the numbers are not final," Bond said.
The numbers for this weekend were calculated between early Friday morning and late Sunday night. "There have already been reclassifications of accidental shootings. That is why this is not official" until May 15th, she said.

Here's what the media is missing: shootings are expensive and cost the citizens of Cook County and Illinois dearly. Take a good look at the closing of St. James in Blue Island. Why? Too many non-payers (welfare & illegals) draining the hospital resources. They offered the hospital to every medical organization in the world FOR FREE and NOBODY would take it because they know it will continue to lose money!!
Our advancing medical technology is keeping people alive who would have died 10 years ago. All those shooting victims who end up in Intensive Care are costing around $4,000 per day just for the bed! Take 30 shooting victims times 2 days in the ICU times $4K and you have a quarter million dollars! Now add on the extended hospital stays, complicated surgeries, blood products, medications, etc. On the low side, the cost PER SHOOTING WILL BE NO LOWER than than $9,000. On the high side, it can cost up to half a million or more! Overall average costs are estimated to be in range of $85,000 to $120,000.
Last year the budget shortfall in Cook County was almost entirely due to losses at Stroger Hospital. Just averaging out the recent thirty-some shootings, they are costing taxpayers somewhere in the area of TWO to THREE MILLION DOLLARS in upfront medical costs! And that does not count the eventual medical liability lawsuits that many of these mutts will file. (Yes, even though they didn't pay a dime for medical care, they still get the shysters lined up to file lawsuits on the doctors and hospitals!)
So guess what the County will need next year?! You got it - another tax increase! If the gangbangers were dying, it would be a lot cheaper. It's much more expensive when they live.
Wise up, Daley. Take the shackles off your Police Force before you lose the rest of your hospitals!

He only could speak about the west side gangs. What about Area Two? Cronin, promoted so he could get the golden parachute, should take his pension and consulting money and leave. What's going on in our city? All of a sudden, the cockroaches have poured out. Last night as I was working out down 63rd St, (2) white males in a van suddnely put on their emergency lights and slowed down... the one staring @ me and you could see what looked like the door slowly opening. I stopped, glared at them and ready to beat their asses into the ground if there's any funny business. They turned off the lights and moved on.

As a civilian, I understand and I am smart enough to read between the lines unlike many stupid reporters and community actvist as they call themselves. I side with the Police on this one, I would not want to go out everyday and put my life on the line if I did not have a contract or a leader (Weis) who cared about the average Police officer working in the street.

The dead Humboldt Park woman whose three missing children prompted authorities to issue an Amber Alert had an existing order of protection against her husband, who she claimed threatened to kill her and himself. Sofia Garcia , 30, was granted an order of protection against Benito O. Casanova in July 2006. She again was granted an order or protection in February of 2007.

MADISONVILLE, Ky. — A judge in western Kentucky has sent a woman to jail because her son wouldn't go to school.
Samantha Kinney of Earlington pleaded guilty to failing to keep her son in middle school classes. The court in Madisonville sentenced Kinney to a week on jail on her second offense. She had pleaded guilty to a like charge in December.
Records show the boy had 16 unexcused absences this school year, besides medical absences.

You would think that when the city picks up the vehicles, THAT PERSON WOULD DO A VEHICLE CHECK to make sure everything is as it should be. But no, as usual the crap rolls downhill.
3. Who in A/3 got written up by the INSPECTOR for having the F.O.P medallion on the license plate, NOT obstructing anything ?
4. Brothers and Sisters, please take the time to check out YOUR squad cars....PLEASE make sure that the CITY STICKER on your squad has not expired, been removed or partially torn off. This would make your squad car illegal to drive on the street. Someone you know might have to write you a ticket! And remember that when you do find a squad car like that, please initiate a TO -FROM to cover your ASSets.

The problem is Districts are short personnel. TRU does very little in my opinion. And I too have seen 5 or 6 or more TRU cars taking lunch for 2 hours or more in Mt. Greenwood. TRU needs to be dissolved and the P.O.'s reasined to the Districts. Three Distrcits need to be closed. Jody and the MAyor are letting politics stand in the way of police work.

I'm not in TRU, but dont type crap about other officers,such as long lunches or getting out early. If you think TRU are dog workers...FINE. OK, Here it is, im a former member of SOS, yes some guys messed up, but the city screwed up big time when they disbanded the unit, they should have gooten rid of the problem police that still were there, we did alot of good in problems areas, sure there were alot of bullshit pinches, but it kept these goofs in check, now what is needed is some positive reinforcement from our Sup and 1st deputy, along with Da Mayor getting on TV and telling the city that the police will take back the streets from the thugs, start with writing every asshole a shit house full of tickets for loud ass music and TOW thier rides, make it zero tolerance on standing around on the corners, but within the law, no dice playing etc, make sure the no balls W/c's in the district understand that these fuckheads spend time in the lock-up, fuck the cry baby lockup keepers that slow down and won't do thier jobs, spen some money on OT, some years back in SOIS they made us work 4 hours more on the night watch, we confused the fuck out of Jerome and Pukie, but don't force cops to work 2000- 0400 hrs unless they want to do it. We still have a great dept and have some good workers, I'm a Sgt. who has been around a long time and I can go anytime, but In due time, I will go into battle with working cops anytime, report writing and taking care of the troops comes with the stripes, so if you no balls young ass sgts are only in it for your own shit, then shame on you, let's push the police unions, all of them into demanding that the powers to be back us, there are more good people in this city then the thugs, and if the aldercreatures and revs can't get on the wagon with us, then move your asses to Ford HTs, Phoenix, Matteson or wherever you can take your churches. To the detective in the "D" unit. Can't blame the SGT. on this one. The seatbelt missions are decided upon downtown then passed on the the commander, the W/C and then assigned to the SGT. We roll our eyes too when we are told to conduct them. I'm almost positive the W/C called the SGT and told him to start one. This is the case for all the silly missions. I too worked in S.O.S. While I know we did do a lot of good work back in the day I also know that S.O.S. being disolved is not the only factor involved in the killing spree. What it did do was crush the moral of a lot of coppers that liked to work. On top of hurting the 250 or so S.O.S. people the biggest mistake was spreading them out all over the city. Now you just injected every district with a little more bitterness. Guys that did absolutely nothing wrong got shafted and their anger and disgust was seen In every district. There were plenty of good people still bustin their ass and they had friends all over. When S.O.S. went down......it hurt more than just the people in S.O.S.
Plus, all the bosses knew what was going on. AND THEY NEVER SAID SHIT. Not just S.O.S. bosses either. Look what happened....no more weapon turn-in's. (How many guns were recovered in 05 and 06 by S.O.S. Most of which came from these war zones) Now all those guns are out in the streets. You guys can blame J-Fed all you want and I'm not backing him, but I believe that the real root of the problem was STARKS. HE is the COWARD that SHIT on the guys in S.O.S., folded like a house of cards from public/MEDIA pressure, and let all the officers in the city see just where the bosses and City stands.
