Yet Another Shooting

The learning curve seems awfully steep here: point a gun at the police, get shot, maybe die. Yet people keep doing it:
  • A man shot by police early Sunday in the Marquette Park neighborhood on the South Side has died from his injuries.

At approximately 2:13 a.m., a Chicago Lawn District unit responded to a call of shots fired on the 6100 block of South Kedzie Avenue, according to police News Affairs.

An adult male was shot by police and died from his injuries Sunday morning, according to Independent Police Review Authority spokesman Mark Payne.

Again, thank goodness the cops are OK and the offender is dead. The other shooting this weekend involved something as routine and simple as an expired plate - not that anything is routine or simple nowadays.

Be safe boys and girls.

If your battery goes a chirpy chirpy, stop what you are doing and go back to your unit of assignment and get a new battery.

If police change their batteries at any police station, then some police stations will end up with too many batteries, thereby leaving other police stations with not enough batteries.

Ok, you dumb ass. If you change your battery at ANY police station...

Guess what... EVERY STATION WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE SAME AMOUNT OF BATTERIES!

YOUR GIVING THEM ONE FOR ONE IN RETURN. No station will have less.

YOU ARE AN ASSHAT SIR!

But most likely be a fricken boss one day!

OT I have to tell you guys. Today I was walking in my neighborhood in the 017th district

I heard a squad car with the emergency equipment going (on days so he probably has been around awhile) racing to get to a call.

Now as we all know, the faster we arrive at a scene the more likely it is that it will be dangerous when we get there.

And yet here was this officer racing to get there in the shortest time possible.

What I found amazing and made me so proud, was the fact that not far away from this location one of our fallen was laying, and still this officer kept his oath to serve and protect the City if Chicago

It made me proud to have been a member of the organization ( much maligned lately) called the Chicago Police Dept

Please stay safe and keep up your fine work

I work a beat car in 002 and thank all the units that responded. Just their presence on site stopped a near fiasco. Be safe.

These punks think they are better 'con la pistola' than the police. Well, there's one who won't be able to say to his boys, "Not too smart playing Quick Draw McGraw" in Da Lawn. Too bad the CCASA's aren't this effective in their prosecutions when these clowns get arrested for UUW.

Off topic: Alot of people on this blog talk about how it was take jfed or the feds take over. Total bullshit..Did they offer jfed to detroit , la etc. Jfed is here as a hatchet man for the mayor. Our scandals, for a police dept our size were not out of the norm. Of the depts taken over by feds it was over civil rights violations, except detroit.

The guy shot and killed by the police had just shot and killed a rival gangbanger at 61st and Kedzie. Police were responding to the gunfire when they saw the homicide offender running from the scene. They chase him into an alley and he ups the gun on the police. Goodbye.

Is this the TENTH (10TH) POLICE SHOOTING within 4 weeks? Can someone post all the police shootings, including the fire investigator that got shot.

Daley is ranting & raving in public about the 2nd amendment that would legally allow law-abiding citizens to at least have a gun within their own home for safety; YET not one word about these thugs with guns confidently carrying concealed WITH criminal intent. Mayor midget, WHO ARE YOU REALLY AFRAID OF? and if Jfed has bodyguards, same goes for him.

I used to be an ASA in Cook County in the mid 80's. One time when on felony review I was leaving Area 1 going past the Robert Taylor Homes around 2:00 a.m. All of a sudden a kid wearing a white T-shirt and white high tops, carrying a gun, ran in front of my car and disappeared between some buildings. Couldn't see anything except the white blur and the gun. A few seconds later I saw a big bellied copper chasing him--running almost as fast--run in front of my car and down between the dark buildings with his gun out. Copper was breathing hard, but he was still motoring after him when they disappeared in the dark. No other squads in sight.
Never found out what happened, but I thought it was one of the bravest things I had ever seen. The cop didn't have to do what he did--he could have stopped and just said the kid outran him in the dark--no one would have second-guessed him. But he was out there trying.
My point is that you guys do a lot of extremely brave things that don't go completely unrecognized. Good people know how tough your job is. Keep doing your job, because it's the right thing to do. You'll get your reward some day. Just be safe.

But don't come here posting a bunch of lies an garbage. SCC, it wouldn't hurt for you to do a better job of monitoring the crap you decide to post here. MOST of the people who were promoted meritoriously were hard chargers.
Of course, this being Chicago, a few bums got through, but trust me, Lee has more than earned his stripes. Maybe the poster should drop by the Chicago Lawn District and share his feelings personally with the Sgt., rather than posting them here in the routine cowardly fashion.

Ok Lee, keep on rationalizing your existence& career.
He was a whiner crybaby in the Academy,His HRI Pufundt told him to grow up.He married a Capt.'s daughter then his career took off. He's the embodiment of what's wrong w/this department.
Spent his entire career as a Desk Dolly & Specialized Units.Lets see how quickly he's out of 008 & safely back in HIDTA w/the rest of the doing nothing clout hacks.
