Budget Director Lies
Hiring 200 officers all year "will not be sufficient. It's not an average time," she said, noting that homicides and other violent crime are continuing to rise.
Police Committee Chairman Isaac Carothers (29th) said the decision to slow police hiring -- after Daley reneged on last year's promise to add 75 officers -- would have a "devastating impact on public safety."
Budget Director Bennett Johnson argued that the Police Department started the year with a record-low, 11 vacancies and is only now returning to, what he called a "more normal level."
Eleven vacancies? Bwahahaha. WBBM 780 has the audio of an aldercreature questioning whether the Department even hired the number of officers that were in the previous budget. Bennett Johnson hems and haws and then admits that the City didn't even reach last year target. And it isn't going to get any better next year.
But you can bet we'll hit the projected number of retirements, thereby increasing the shortage everyone knows is there but no one admits.

The city of Chicago isn't only immediately saving money by not hiring any officers but is also saving future expenses. The longer they take to hire an officer, the longer it takes for that officer to go up in pay and benefits.
So the city isn't only looking at the immediate cost savings but future savings.

its obvious that the city, the dept, the mayor, etc etc do NOT care about the citizens (the tax paying ones) and officer safety. remember, there are alot of downed cars, ghost cars, and 99 cars. alot of officers are hidden in special places i.e. caps offices and HQ. saturations teams and tact teams arent out there all the time and plus they dont help out anyway. there are more calls now and less officers. so remember that the next time you make a stop or respond to a call.
These people take our safety in the city for granted, hope voters will remember that when election comes.

It seems that there's been a couple of lawsuits filed (one of them with Hawaii's State Supreme Court) to demand that the state of Hawaii give up the birth records (if they have any) of Obama. It seems that he actually may have been born in Kenya and is NOT an American born citizen!!!

Off topic - I looked at the last transfer order. I did not see K.M. (023) on the order. Transfer K.M. We would like it in (023). If you did so much to have schedule changes than you should try one of them. Oh - I forgot you would have to give up your foot-post with a fixed day off groug (weekends). Don't tell us what is good for the officers in patrol unless you work the schedule changes.
the police department will be hard pressed to keep adequate levels of police on the streets. the city cannot predict how many officers will leave the job prematurely. it is expensive to train officers. this used to be a job that was career oriented-- guys got hired and stayed 30 years and retired. now this job is a stepping stone to better things. most of the new recruits have no desire to do this as a career. the result is negative for the city-- they pay to train a new guy and he leaves after a few years-- the city loses big time.

The trouble with so many of these "special" opportunities are they are written vaguely enough that someone can be slipped through the cracks at any time. I, for one, will tell citizens, on camera and on audio, that I am being ordered to increase ticket writing or else I might lose my job. I will explain that the city is in a budget crunch and that is why they are getting a ticket. Any other time, I will inform them, they would likely get a pass.
If they have a problem with their ticket I will give them the phone umber of the Mayor's office so they may complain.
We can only handle one job at a time people.

This is a prime example of a newbie not bothering to check with someone with a little gray hair before spouting off. Many CPD Sergeants attended the FBI National Academy before Hillard changed the requirements. So your NEVER is incorrect.
Also, before you cast any further accusations, where is this Sergeant on the Lieutenant's list? If he is legitimately in the first 100, they have an "out" for sending him as a Sergeant.
I took the June 06 test. About this time last year I was called to do the POWER test and then all of the subsequent tests. I passed them all, met with my investigator in January who told me I cleared everything and was ready to be hired on. She told me to expect to be called within 3-7 months but because of the hiring freeze/slowdown it didn't happen. What do think are the odds I'm in that list of 200?

He also stated "018 is full of pussies so fuck you". I didn't want to cause any drama so I left but I wish I was in 018 right now on midnites so I can show them how CPD really works especially if they hate us now...no respect! WTF. 018 - show them what we're made of.

I got hired off the '91 test.
THe way I understand it 28,000 took that test.
2800 were hired (over about a 3 year period?).
So from 1991-1994 (there was a new test in '94), about 900 cops per year were hired ... a little more than that actually.
Now they are down to what 75-200 per year?

When I was on the job in the 80's we had 100% more crime then you cowards do today, during the time of 1983 to 1986. We were lucky if we had 3 officers on midnights.

It is only in RECENT years that sergeants weren't selected to go, in fact, it used to be MOSTLY sergeants were selected, and NO CAPTAINS...
Regarding the lawsuits and the issues of where Barry was born; Hawaii would not have been a state at that time, and if my grammar school civics is remembered correctly, his mother being a citizen would have done it for him anyway...right?

Argh, why is it so hard for people to check their facts? Obama was born on Aug 4, 1961. Hawaii became a state on Aug 21, 1959 (almost 2 years before).
But you are correct about that it doesn't matter whether or not Hawaii was statebecause...Congress first recognized the citizenship of children born to U.S. parents overseas on March 26, 1790, under the first naturalization law: "And the children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond sea, or outside the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born citizens."

Yeah, Excalibur and Vision are like that with CPD. Avoid them. There are quite a few places that do want the police there and respect us. Not going to name them here, as a lot of officers do not frequent those spots, and I don't want it ruined.
The CPD is scheduled to go before the Council this Friday for their budget hearing. Should be interesting to hear J-Fed, Pete, Pat and the Feebies try to explain how a POLICE DEPARTMENT works. Clueless each one of them. May have been decent FBI desk jockeys but the POLICE, never. Should be entertaining.

Now attack the LTS? That job sucks with the work they do. Even a take home car does not make a difference. As much as I hate white shirts, the academy LTS stay busy with paperwork and projects from downtown. The LT you refer to has a complete moron as a secretary. Absolutely useless. He does his own work. Sgts jobs are not bad but LTS work. If academy slows down they will reassign staff for a few months. By the way, GFY!

That being the case I ask just one simple question? Why doesn't he produce the birth certificate? There will be over 1 million folks who will view the video from the attorney from Philly. Throw out the fact that most of these folks will be Mc Cain supporters. However, there could be 10 to 15 % who viewed from the "independent" point of view. Why would he not concern himself with that amount of possible voters? Just wondering? By the way I don't care if he's American - French - Spanish etc tec it makes no never mind because he's a socialist plain and simple no matter what his nationality is. There is some compelling evidence the birth certificate he presents is forged, he was listed as a home birth, that even if this birth was legitimate his US citizenship was renounced when he was adopted by an Indonesian stepfather where he attended madrassa.
